I need to use asp code in a text file (.txt extension). But when i try to call the text file (with asp code inside) in a browser , it simply displays the asp code i have written on the file. I know that i can set options in IIS administrative panel so that my text file is parsed as asp. But assuming i have no access to the web server, how to do this?

Set cnn = CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")

cnn.Open strDB

how do I solve this issue. I need to be able to post messages and

how do I parse a textbox of text separated by carriage returns?
I have a web form with a textbox, when the user presses submit I would like to process the text in the textbox line by line. How can I iterate through it line by line and do something on each line of text?
I am trying to take a name that is in a database field and rearrange it to place it in a session variable. For example:
Database Field:
SMITH, JOHN
What I would like to see:
JOHN SMITH
Instead of - Welcome SMITH, JOHN
I would prefer - Welcome JOHN SMITH
Can this be done when requesting a form variable or does it have to be done when viewing the recordset variable.
What I want to do is simply upload a file and read the information in there. I don't want to save the file onto the server or anything difficult.
My problem is I don't know how to recieve the file once the user clicks on the Submit button. So far I have the Enctype as "multipart/form-data" and an input type as "file". That's it.
Question about the performance of using an include file or reading from a text file compared to hitting the database.
I set up a client's web site so they can post a weekly message and also post a "of special interest" message on their home page. Originally these messages were stored in and retrieved from an Access 2000 database. I decided to try writing the messages to a text file then retrieving it through include file and also tried the text streaming object.
I used netmechanic.com to gauge the download times for all three methods on a 56K modem. According to the results, using the database was around 4 seconds quicker. Does this sound right? The site is on a shared hosting package using Win2000.
I'm working on a project where there are just under 1300 course files, these
are HTML files - my problem is that I need to do more with the content of
these pages - and the thought of writing 1300 asp pages to deal with this
doesn't thrill me.
The HTML pages are provided by a training company. They seem to be
"structured" to some degree, but I'm not sure how easy its going to be to
parse the page. Code:
I have a site that pulls in XML data from an external third party and I need to parse it in my ASP page.
Could someone please suggest examples or online resources where I might learn how to do this? Everything I am Googling is confusing me with DTDs, XSLTs etc.
Im trying to parse data from a .mdb file to a com object [.dll] file. how to i get this.?
Then the .dll file perfoms the required calculations/conversion on the data parsed and displays the result to an ASP page.
Is there away to write data from a database field into a text file on the server.
The data would be more than one line.....
how to replace carriage return upon extracting text from Access file.
However I think it will be smarter to do it before (during) inserting text into acess file.
It might be primitive question, but I started my ASP learning just last week and many things are confusing me on this stage.
QUESTION:
What should I change in my ASP file code (file inserted data from the HTML form file into database file) to replace all carriage returns and line brakes during inserting text into field GuestSory? Code:
when I try to save this text with "&" character , it saves only the first part of the text , for example : aaa&bbb , the result is only aaa . realy dont know how to solve it .
View Replies View RelatedI was performing some testing on my forms and in the comments section of the form, I copied and pasted a large amount of text. All of the text appeared on my confirmation page that I have that shows all of the submitted information. Once I hit submit on the confirm page so that the INSERT will occur, only about 1/4 of the text that was entered shows up on my "Submission Confirmation" page.
The text insert appears in the database, but only the 1/4 of the text that was entered. I'm using the "text" datatype and the length is set to 16. Can anyone think of why only a portion of my text is being displayed and then inserted into the table?
I have a quick question regarding a text field for inserting record, I have a page which inserts various fields including area code an phone number for a new record, however I am curious if there is a way that I can either make the area code appear with brackets around it in the text field which is sent so that the user does not have to type it in each time.
I was thinking I could concantenate the value i send in each time with brackets but am not sure what the syntax would b for this. or perhaps there is another way of doing this?
