Persist A Recordset
I'm working in a mysql db, and I need to submit a form and persist all the values from an sql search. I tried Code:
add_records.asp?recset=rs
rs being the recordset. Didn't seem to work.

I can only get one cookie (which does not persist) from the following asp script:
<script language="vbscript" runat="server">
' cookie_test.asp
' Copyright (c) 2002 by Dr. Herong Yang
' This ASP page displays all the cookies received by the server.
'
response.write("<html><body>")
' Displaying all the cookies
response.write("<b>Cookies received at this time:</b>:<br/>")
set c = request.Cookies
response.write("Cookies.Count = " & c.Count & "<br/>")
for each n in c
response.write( n & " = " & c(n) & "<br/>")
next
response.write("<b>Cookie added by the server:</b><br/>")
n = "Cookie_" & (c.Count+1)
v = "Value_" & (c.Count+1)
response.write( n & " = " & v & "<br/>")
response.cookies(n) = v
response.write("</body></html>")
</script>
Which results in:
Cookies received at this time::
Cookies.Count = 0
Cookie added by the server:
Cookie_1 = Value_1
Changing the Session.Timeout value has no effect.
(I'm not sure if this is the right forum for my post - my question is about vbscript, but I didn't see any vbscript forum, so here goes.)
I've created a registration page on my website which gets called from a number of links on the site - I want to capture user information before allowing them access to these sections of the site.
Once a user has registered, I want to recognise that fact when they click on any of the other links, so I'm setting a cookie. However, while it works fine in Firefox, it won't persist in IE - even across a single session.
Here's the code I'm using :
In the 'Thank you for registering' page, the very first lines on the page are :
<%
Response.Cookies("Registered") = "True"
Response.Cookies("Registered").Expires = Date + 1000
%>
Where the links that require registration appear on the site, I am building the <a href> tag as follows :
<a href=
<% if Request.Cookies("Registered") = "True" then %>
"PageX.asp"
<% else %>
"Register.asp?RequestedArea=ReportDesign"
<% end if %>
class="bodyLink">Report Design</a>
but it keeps going to the Else part - ie. it's not finding that the Registered cookie has a value of True.
i get data with ado i need to get a xml string from the recordset how can i get it without having to persist the recordset in a (xml) text file is there a simple way ?
View Replies View Relatedi have logically divided each .asp page in one or more "states" then i need to store somewhere information about what state has each client on each page i consider 3 ways:
store info in the DB : {page,sessionid} is the PK - in a file: which i have to read on enter to the page and write on exit the page - in the session object: storing an array on a session variable, like session("x")[1...N] each way has a pros and cons, i'm choosing the last method, but i know it consumes much memory.
i'm setting up my web new server. i see that cookies do not persist after a Server.Transfer or Response.Redirect although i do expire them the next year.
View Replies View RelatedHaving trouble getting Session to persist. Have checked properties of the Virtual Directory in IIS4 manager and "Enable Session State" is checked, with time out set to 20 Mins. Have also checked the Project Properties in Interdev 6.0 and confirmed that
"Sensionless ASP Pages" is NOT checked.
When moving from one page to another within the application it starts a new session for each page : I've confirmed this both by Writing the SessionID and by adding a Variable into the On_Start of the Global.asa. Only trying to store a single digit in a Session variable.
Last week, my shopping cart was still working well until I began getting the following errors 2days ago..
Error Type:
ADODB.Recordset (0x800A0BCD)
Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted. Requested operation requires a current record.

Could you check my code below and let me know what possibly the error is?
I have created a forum, in which I have 3 tables:
1: Table_Forum
2: Threads
3: Replies
I have it at the moment that on the main default.asp there is a recordset that will
display all records within that table, these are a list of forums that will be available.
I have a table that will show the forum name, and the description. This table is then looped using Do while not, now what i need to do is show how many records in the Treads table are related to each forum using asp. Code:
I basically created 5 different recordset with names of
ObjRS2 ---> ObjRS6
The code is pretty easy to understand, but I'm missing something
<%
for (i=2;i<=6;i++)
{
%>
all of my HTML code calling the Recordsets....example
<tr>
<td>
<%= objRSi("something")%> <----- the "i" is where i want the counter obviously
</td>
</tr>
}
how would one make this work?
I have a database set up for a survey where in the Answers table I have columns QuestionID, SurveyID, and Answer. Because my survey has about 300 possible questions it's impossible to make a column for each answer. So if I need to select the answers from a specific survey for a specific question and I have about 50 entered in the database my loop will have go keep going for about 15000 times. What I'm trying to find out is if there is a way to create a record set by selecting a survey by it's ID and then when I only have about 300 rows in the record set select answer from the record set using the questionID.
This is to update the answers for the survey. Also, another possibility would be update the recordset and then update the database. Is it possible to do that? Any directions to some code?
Doing a "modify a registry" html, I need to use the content of a recordset as an initial value for a text input , but it does not function the way I need to; this code gives me an error, look:
<input type="text" name="apeynom" size="25" maxlength="20" value=<% ob_rs("apeynom") %> >
the error shown is "Error de Microsoft VBScript en tiempo de ejecución error '800a01c2' Número de argumentos erróneo o asignación de propiedad no válida: 'ob_rs' "
how should be the sintax?
I need to format a recordset into a particular format i.e.
Dim myDataStore
MyDataStore = ...
so that myDataStore =
[ 'record1field1',
'record1field2','record1field3','record1field4','record1field5'], [
'record2field1',
'record2field2','record2field3','record2field4','record2field5'], etc
I can do this OK for 1 record and know I need so kind of loop but am not
sure how to go about for the whole recordset?
i ahve a recordset which takes data from a database using the shape command in a SQL statement. now i want it to show the data in a tabular fom such that the parent field has to it's right the child fields with out repeating the parent field again and again. And this done, the child field in the table should have the grandchild fields to is right and as before without repetition of the child field. and all of this in a tabular form!!!
i use a similar sql statement as below:
SQLTRY = "SHAPE {SELECT * FROM A} APPEND ( ( SHAPE {SELECT * FROM B} APPEND ({SELECT * FROM C} RELATE MachineNum TO MachineNum) AS rsparts) RELATECategoryNum TO CategoryNum)"
I have the following code:
Code:
Set RS = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.RecordSet" )
RS.CursorLocation = 3
RS.Open ("SELECT * FROM " & the_table_name & " WHERE " & job_id_field & "=" & request.querystring("job") &""), cn, adOpenDynamic
Both have connections via the following string:
Code:
set cn = server.createobject("adodb.connection")
cn.Open ("DRIVER={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)}; DBQ=" & Server.MapPath(database_map_path)) & ";"
Only difference is that the newer version has the connection string included in another file, and the "RS.OPEN ..." line on the recordset code gives an error: "Too few parameters". Expected 1.
When it pulls the user info from the db, it's fine, but when i come to display the info for editing, it doesn't populate the interests column.
Also, do you know how to change a form so that a certain field can send a blank string, or at least so that it doesn't require any input? Code:
can anyone explain to me what the code is trying to do?
if rsHistory(2) = "i" then
v_HistOperation="Clock - In"
v_HistTime=rsHistory(0)
else
if rsHistory(2) = "o" then
v_HistOperation="Clock - Out"
v_HistTime=rsHistory(1)
end if
I'm working on a website where a compiled object returns a recordset. When I access the recordset, the memo fields are truncated. Is there anyway to get the full data from the existing recordset or is that a problem with the object itself and how the data is being queried (from SQL Server)?
View Replies View RelatedI have a recordset full of data from form input. I would like to insert this data into a table where the recordID = the recordID from a query string. Is this possible with recordsets? To specify where to add the record, as opposed to just inserting a brand new record?

View Replies View RelatedI'm retrieving two rows from a recordset and i want to place a divider between the titles.
Title1 | Title2 (intended approach)
So far i've got it to work but it displays at the end of the second item.

I'm sure it's pretty simple but i can't figure it out.
Does anyone know of a good, simple and preferably free tool that is similar to MS Frontpage's Data Connection WYSIWYG tool?
Specifically, I have a bunch of recordsets that I need to convert into ASP pages and I really am not looking forward to coding the recordset fields manually. Dreamweaver and Frontpage are WAY to much overkill for what I want.
I am using an Access database and I have a list of pubs in one table in the other stores the time and date of the visit to that certain pub, if you go to www.mutedesigns.co.uk/bpubs
user: test: password: test
click on search date and search 31st March, it shows a result saying Jarv is going to the....... on the 31st March at 21:30 to drink
my question: how do i show what pub they are drinking in to show, click on PUBS and then H and then Hove Place (1st Avenue)
I need to create a recordset from a number of session variables. After I create this recordset I will be passing it to a stored procedure.
Could someone please tell me how to create the recordset? I'm not asking how to GET a recordset from a database. I need to know how to create one: create fieldnames and put data into each field.
I'm having a problem with one of the editors of a site I look after. He keeps on putting the Headline to uppercase. I'm familiar with to uppercase but how could you apply it to a record set so that only the first word becomes a capital and the rest is in lower case?
<%=(rsNewsArticle.Fields.Item("Headline").Value)%>

View Replies View RelatedI have an ASP page that calls ASP routines that I created that execute
a database query and return the results to a recordset. I then iterate
through the recordset and display the data in a table. Before I iterate
through the recordset I instruct the browser that the content type is
Excel using the following line:
(Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel")
This works fine with Excel 2003 but with older versions (I tested Excel
97) the HTML included within the include files (on Page One) is
displayed in an Excel worksheet.
Page One - Begins with Include files (which contain my subroutines and
databse connection information). Then I have a Select statement to
determine which export users want. When I hit the case I need I then
call a Sub routine that exports the data to Excel. Code:
I have this stored procedure which is outputting records from two tables
Can one RecordSet have records from both these tables?
I have a RecordSet in hand which retrieves the Items in the database as per the category. Now I would like to Sort the RecordSet, based on the selection from 2 drop-down select boxes. The selection's values are the name of a column and the other selection has the values "ASC" and "DESC". And the form submits to the same page.
How can I accomplish this?I tried the RecordSet.Sort method, but to no avail. Maybe it is something I am doing wrong.
I have a doubt.I am connecting to mysql db and there is only one table and i am retrieving the data like city, state, county, etc.. from db to comboboxes. so i am using one recordset for each retrivel and showing into combobox.it is going slowly.SO what happens if i use multiple recordsets in single ASP page?
So I think we can use only one recordset for all the data retrievel from the db?
I have some code which checks to see if a recordset field has a value, and if so ,doing a split on it. I kept on getting an error about split not working on null, which seemed odd considereing the if statement checking for null.After a lot of confused playing I can up with this:
response.Write("no1 "+rs1.Fields.Item("info").Value)
response.Write("no2 "+rs1.Fields.Item("info").Value)
If I run this, only the first writes out.If I comment the first out, the second then writes out.
Assume that an ASP page has 3 SQL queries.Can a recordset object be populated with the records of all these 3 queries at the same time?
Please note that the 3 queries are distinct queries,not related to each other in any way.Also please note that I am not talking aboutpopulating the recordset with the records of the 1st query, then closing it & again opening that recordset,populating it with the records of the 2nd query so on & so forth.
I have a problem with my recordset. I have a database with many tables and I need to access all this tables and show their values in a list box. Is there anyway to do it?
