I need to have three list boxes automatically populating each other, (ie
when region is selected from the first listbox, it will populate
automatically the second one which is the TOWNS and when the town is
selected is should populate the third one AREA) all data is in the database
in one table.
im looking at populating a drop down box with database values when a user selects a value from another drop down box.I have a drop down list that populates from database values, it is a list of manufactures. When a user selects a manufacture i want it to display all the systems for that manufacture which will be stored in a table. I understand that because asp is server side that once an option is selected the page would have to submit and then load the values in.
I am trying with very little success to populate two drop down boxes in the same form when i do i get an error saying page cannot be displayed.
They do not need to be linked to each other in any way but they get the data from the same table I am new to ASP so this might be pretty easy to resolve.
I would like to create a page with VBscript and ASP which will contain two list-boxes one in the left side and the other in the right side with two buttons namely "Add>>" and "<<Remove" so that if the user selects a value listed in the left side list-box and presses "Add>>" then that selected value should go inside the right side list-box.
Similarly if the user selects a value listed in the right side list-box and after clicking "<<Remove" then that selected value should go back to the left side list-box. provide me the code?
I have two forms on one page. Form A only has a list box, lbox1, in it that is pulling its values via a stored procedure. Form B has a bunch of other stuff on it. What I want to do is hide Form B until a value is selected in lbox1. How do I accomplish this?
I have two list boxes . User can select multiple values from the lists. Is there a way I can force that the user can select from only one of the list boxes? Can I associate the radio button with the list so that as soon as user selects the radio button the other list box turns grey(not letting the user to select anything from that list).?
i am trying to link list boxes for a mini intranet. I have created a booking database for our staff to add bookings into for a business and it is all based around dates etc. I want people to be able to select the year in the first box and then in the next list select the month and then the date.
Can you give me a sample code on how to link the lists so that they are dependent? i can get single drop down lists just cant link them.
Here is my situation, I have an ASP page with 2 list boxes. The first list box displays people that are available to be selected. The other list box shows the people who have been selected. This makes it easy to see who has been selected and who has not been selected since if you are in one list box you will not be in the other.
I know how to write the SQL to get the data for each list box but my problem is getting this to work without having to reload the whole page (I thought I could just re-run each list boxes' SQL and display the results instead of having to load the page again).
Write now I was thinking each list box would have an OnClick or OnChange JavaScript event. I would then have 1 table with all People in it and a second table of people who were selected. When the user clicked on the list box of available people (not selected) I need to run an ASP insert script and then requery both list boxes to pick up the change. In the case a user was removed from the selected list box, I need to run a Delete ASP script.
My problem is that I can do this if I reload the page every time a person is selected from a list but there has to be a way this can be done without reloading the page. Do you have any ideas or suggestions?
I want to link 2 list boxes on the same page without reloading it. The list boxes are dynamic and when one selects an item in the first one, the second one get's populated accordingly. So far I've been stuck with Javascript Object Expected Error and I cant find a way to make it work. Code:
I would like to create a page with VBscript and ASP which will contain two list-boxes one in the left side and the other in the right side with two buttons namely "Add>>" and "<<Remove" so that if the user selects a value listed in the left side list-box and presses "Add>>" then that selected value should go inside the right side list-box.

i have a form with fields that contain data from a db. the fields can then be edited, and on the click of the "submit" button, the updated information is returned to the database, replacing the old. a bonus would be arrow buttons allowing navigation from one record to the next, with the information populating the form each time. i'm having a hard time with this.
I am designing a questionaire for my partner for her uni degree, I have done the form, created the database and written the add.asp script so the form data can be added to the database.
When you enter the data and send it, it works and even goes to the thanks.asp page. HOWEVER, when i check the database, the script has created a new autonumber for the new submission but has not filled in any of the data from the form.
I have included the add script below, the database field names match up to. Code:

The user can search the database when they put in a date, that works fine, but when i put in another text box to search the database for a certain date range Code:

I need to compare the files in a folder to ones that are entered into a database (filenames list) and update it to include ones that dont have entities.
Whats the best way to accomplish this ? I'v thought of creating an array out of the physical file entities then rolling through the database and deleting the array entities that already exist; that way I end up with an array of filenames that need to be entered into the DB. that way just a thought (I wouldnt even know how to do it) but I want to think it through more thoroughly before starting the code:
Is there anyway to store a list of data in an access database.
For example if i have several input text fields for a customer to add descriptions of a particular item, this list should then come together and be stored in one place in the database. This information should then be displayed in a list when retreiving the data from the database.
ive tried to explain what i am trying to achieve, if anyone can advise me on how to do this or for a better way to accomplish this.
I show information from a database in a table format. I will be showing more and more data and would like to show it one page at a time with a next page back page option. Can I do this on a web page and does anyone know where I could look to find out how
I am hoping a mixed ASP- Javascript programmer could help me with this scenario:
I have a list box populated with randomized records (NewID()) from a Broker (Salesperson) sql server table.
Each time the user selects one of the broker items I need to display a Image of the broker in the table cell next to it.
I have found a number of online js scripts that use the image selector route but I am unable to work out to populate the list item from the database AND at the same time utilize the JS...
Are there any coders who come across a solution like this. Here is an example of my ASP code populating the List box: .....
how to show a drop down list with a selected value that is derived from the database? Is this correct? When I do this, it shows "Mastercard" always, even when its "Visa" in the database.
I am creating one web page which contain a drop down list. It use the data from database. Now my problem is when the user select the drop down list value, I want the current selected value update to the database. How to write the code?
Let's say I have a dynamic list/menu, which gets its values from a database table, for example a list of contact people where the value is an ID number and the label is the name. However, if the value the user wants is not in the list I would like to place a hyperlink which will...
(1) open a small window, with an ASP form to allow the user to add a new entry
(2) save the entry to the database
(3) add that value to the list/menu in the parent window and make it the selected option
(4) close the small window and return to the original window.
I can handle the code for 1,2 and 4, but 3 is what I'm not sure about. I don't like the idea of forcing the user to leave the current screen, go to some other form, add the entry they need to the lookup table, then come back; this seems like a logical approach, but just wondering how to make it work.
This seems like a common enough situation; anyone have any code samples or suggestions about how to do this?
