Protecting Asp Pages From Working On A Different Server
I want to install asp and access on a server, is there way to password protect asp pages from being accessed directly?. I don't mean via web.But being accessed from the server directly?
Is there way to ensure that the asp pages works on the computer/server it has been installed on and not for any other comp?
So if some new admin tried to copy those asp pages to another computer, they would not work.
I have some asp files running on IIS server and they work fine. And I just transfered those files to Apache server and all the page functionality don't work anymore. So, ASP is not compatiable to Apache server? Is there a work around for solving this problem or I should use other programming languagesfor Apache server? If using other language is required, what are the choices of the programming language that I can use to run on apache server?
I created a virtual directory in my default website, then I created a few ASP pages. When i run these files from the browser, i go to the screen "page cannot be displayed"

A freshly installed IIS on my Windows XP SP2 does not allow anonymous acces to the default ASP file (localstart.asp). I just used default configuration for installation, which enables anonymous access. But when I load http://localhost I just get a login box. A simple index.html placed manually for debugging purpose loads without login prompt.
I am testing the same thing on a Windows XP (w/o SP2). ASP works for anonymous access like a charm.
Has anyone had any problems with Win2003 Service Pack 1 messing up things in IIS regarding asp pages? I had a small test site working yesterday and last night I ran the Windows critical updates on the server that included Service Pack 1. This morning my asp pages are not working.
Also I'm using Dreamweaver MX 2004 and I'm trying to setup another database connection for another page. I connect to the access .mdb file and it tests successfully. However, when I go to look at the tables in Dreamweaver, it shows that there are NO tables.
I know that there are tables and it was working yesterday. Nothing has changed between yesterday and today except for the windows critical updates. Any ideas??

I am creating a small program for my workplace in asp. It runs fine o my laptop using XP Pro through IIS. I set IIS up on the server runnin Windows 2000 Server Standard, have IIS set up identically, and i doesn't recognize the session variables. I'd like to use XMLHTTP to retrieve two .cav files, store them as arrays (or cursors), join them and execute an SQL query. Can this be done using script in an .asp page? What objects and procedures should I focus on?
This error occurs while trying to execute a asp file which write content into a excel file. strangly it occurs once in a while. what could be the cause?
Running W2k Server SP4, my application event viewer says that the Active Server Pages service is stopped. How and what do I need to do to start the service, and why does it stop?
aspx page designed by asp.net contains text box, buttons, and labels viewed by browser in the localhost but when uploaded to the server only view the labels.
I just upgraded an NT IIS server to 2003 and IIS 6.0 now my Active Server Pages .asp pages do not load or open in the browser I get 500 Error Server Error. Yet and htm page will open. What do I need to change? or configure?
I have a Windows 2003 server running IIS6.0. It has a number of ASP.NET sites running on it.
I'm trying to instal a legacy classic ASP site, but trying to access and pages with the .asp suffix produces a "The system cannot find the file specified." page, or when run locally a 404.
Interesting to note that when I make default.asp my default content page and browse to /mydomain/ rather then /mydomain/default.asp, this page works fine.

I got this book for some time. I need to download the source code for this book. However, Wrox, the publisher, does not have download code for this book. Could anybody suggest any site from where I can get the download of source code for this book?
I have an ASP form that uploads files to our server. When I upload small files, it works great. But larger files like (2.5mb), I get:
Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0113' Script timed out
I have looked up the error, and added more time to the script (up to 10 minutes). Didn't help. We are using Microsoft Server 2000, IIS 5.0, and Microsoft ASP Upload.
My guess is that there is a file size limitation somewhere, but don't where.
The problem occured when I used FP2002 to create a page to search a database. The purpose was to see how it worked and the code behind it so I could start learning how to work it myself.
But before I got that far, I get an error message:
HTTP 500.100 - Internal Server Error - ASP error
Error Type:
Active Server Pages, ASP 0138 (0x80004005) A script block cannot be placed inside another script block.
Browser Type:
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98) (Mozilla/5.0 came back with the same message)
But unless I'm mistaken (and I probably am), the only scriptting on the page is this: Code:
I did write some asp code, that I sell to companies, to control several dbases. Because I sell the code, it's not that they own the code and can sell it further or change the code, or add some extra code to it. It's like I'm selling a program like Excel and that they can use the program, not change it. I'm still the rightful and intellectual owner.
Also, if you give the raw asp-code, then there is a possibility that they change to code a bit for there internal usage only. But if I sell an update, then they have to search and copy/past there old code in the new page, not knowing, that everything will work eventually.
It would be a lot nicer and easer if I can deliver some protected code that they can't change! This will make my live a lot easer regarding updates. And I will sleep better because they can't see the raw asp code, copy/past/change and sell it or worse, going to competitors. Code:
Is their anyway I can protect my asp code from being copied. I have created a number of include files that are quite useful and save a lot of time.
I am hoping that if another developer is enlisted to work on a project i have worked on previously, I can protect all my hard work from being plagerised.
I have writen a few scripts that I'm allowing some poeple I know to use but I don't what them to be able to view the code, is there anyway of stoping them like compiling the code into a DLL or something?
I've built an upload system but i now need to protect the files from being downloaded without being logged into the site. What's the best scenario to implement.I'm using an access database for the site.
Here's what i have done so far.Once a file link (just the id not the file name) is clicked it will check that there's a session variable present then it will present the user with the actual file but i'm now guessing is this the best way to go.
I am building a site that will have a number of images on it, at the moment I have the images in a Dir on the site and the paths stored in database.I want the make it as hard as I can for people to download the Images that are stored on the as some will probably be copyrighted, etc. I know watermarking the images is probably the only real way of protecting them, but I was hoping not to have to do this.
I plan to put a transparent gif in front of the images so right clicking don't work, is there anything I can do to protect the paths that will appear in the source downloaded to the browser?
I am using ms access database and asp 3.0 as my front end. In my database there is a table called account and a field called password. How do I protect the password stored in the database.
I've created a database for a group of about 5 people that I password protected. They all use the same user name and pass to access the website. I've used a session variable that is set to "valid" if the user and pass are correct. When the click the sign out link on any page, I use the Code:
