asp (visual basic script) break long text lines into several lines.
This line of my guestbook (visual basic script) - response.write "message: " & Recordset ("message") & "<br><br>" displays access database field "message" in one line in web browser.
How do I break this text line into several lines? I know in asp.net there is datagrid. Is there something like datagrid in asp. Or perhaps this problem can be solved with htm?
I am having some serious problems with a line of code in my banner rotation application. I have attached it. For some reason, in the banner.asp script (line 114, which I have commented out for debugging) is causing an error why I try to write the file). Basically the filename it is tryingn to write is "clicks1 .txt".
See the problem? The space between the "1" and the ".", and this is throwing an error. I've tried search and replace for the " " (space) and it doesn't work. How do I get this darn space off?To run, just browse to the file test.asp included in the .zip archive.
In VB there is the Goto Statement. In ASP, what would be the equivalent of that? My code looks something like this

How is it you should format your ASP code to that when viewing the resulting
HTML text from the browsers "view code" it looks nice with line breaks?
I need an ASP code that will pass some variables as options to a command line.
Let's say I need to execute a program with some options and I need the user
to select the otions from the web interface.
The command line will look something like this:
Program.exe /usename:username /password:password /options:option1,option2,option3
The the user will access a web page and it will be asked for the username , password and
it will be able to select the options by marking them on the page.
After the selection the command line will be executed with the selected oprions.
If somebody can point me to some example code or any hints to get me started I would
appreciated it.
It is possible to specify also the credentials the "program.exe" should run under?
I had created a macro to read data from an excel sheet and write the values to a text file. I had used "ActiveSheet.Range("GB" & k).Value" command to read the values from the excel.some cells in the excel sheet is having two lines value and four lines data, the text file is generating that value in a single line. (Ex. the cell value in address column is in four lines and should display in four lines in the text file generated from the macro)
Can i do something in the excel sheet or in vb script to read the address value line by line and write line by line in text file?
I have a form with '/' in some of the field names, when I pass through to
the next page the field name comes back as though it's been htmlencoded, so
getting the value out of the field I need to convert this back to '/' with
the replace (same problem if I have a ',' in the name)
Is there an easy way to htmldecode or something what it converted to the
encoded versions? (I have written a short function to basically do all my
replaces for me, but I am guessing this isn't the ideal solution)
I have an encrypted .txt file created by asp. Its formatted with lines etc. Title followed by description underneath. I need to read this into ASP now, and parse it line by line. On each line read, run the function to unencrpt and add line to a new file.
Its the line by line Im having trouble with. If i do the full textstream no formatting takes place coz im adding the fulltextstream all in one addline call. How can I loop through lines ?

list giving them their username & pw, but I don't want to overwhelm my mail
server since there are over 1000 users in my database.
I don't want to overwhelm my web server, either, having this app hog all
resources.
Luckily, I do have two processors running in this web server.
Note: web server and mail server are different boxes.
So... what kind of pause routine would you all put into my VBscript ASP
within the loop that sends out emails to all users?

View Replies View RelatedI have an application which loops through several thousand subscriber
records, compares each subscriber's requirements to a database of
businesses for sale, and then prepares and mails off an email
containing info from the database that the client is interested in.
Problem is that the ASP file exits as soon as it has sent about 50 or
so records to the Mercury/32 mail server on the local Ethernet. No
error message or program execution issues noticed. I then delete the
first 100 or so subscriber records and set the file off again. In the
loop thru the next 100 subscribers it prepares an email for approx
every second subscriber, then seems to hit this 50 max limit and
terminates again. Driving me crazy.
I figure that somewhere there's a queue building up which maxes
something out and causes some low level termination. To test that,
I'd like to build something into the loop thru the subscriber file
that causes a delay of 10 seconds or so before the loop starts again.

My database and ASPs are currently on my local server and now I want to put it on the company's server.
Any pointers how can I do that? Do I need to keep both the ASP's as well as the database on the server?
i am trying to put in images from the database and using something like:

We have two applications for one system. The first application is a vb-app
and the second is a web-app.
From the vb-app users have the possibility to enter right into the web-app.
The vb-app is creating an appropriate url and opens the web-browser with
this. The url contains user-information like user name and password. We
don't want this url-information to be stored in the history-list, because
then advanced users can find passwords etc here and that's not so good.
I am retrieving data from html form, perform some math. calculations on it and now i need to put this data back to some presentable form to display in asp.Earlier I get the data from FORM in text format, convert it into double value, now want to put it back in text format for dispal.
View Replies View RelatedI'm trying to put my data from Access DB into a table, but, where I know how to do it creating one row per record, what I'm wanting to do is essentially extract each record into 1 cell, and then have the next record in the next cell, creating a table 2xn in size.
The data I'm getting for each record is a URL & a file location, to create an image hyperlink for each record, and need the images to appear in a table 2 columns x however many rows required.
Is it possible to put a variable in parameter for a URL? I'm looking to have a page with an input box and a link. When someone puts in a value in the input box and clicks the link it will take the value and pass it through the link to an asp page.

I am creating a directory of suppliers.I have a form that collects data - business name, address1, address2, town, city, county, country, postcode.
The data is stored in separate fields in an Access database. Another page is used to display the data, one field per line. However, if some of the fields are blank, I want to suppress the blank liens as at the moment I am getting:

View Replies View RelatedI have been asked to design a ASP page that retrieves the URL and a line of text that contains the version number from a number of pages in our software.
The idea is that if we get a email to our support dept we can check to see what version the client has to ensure that they have got the updated versions instead of getting the client to search through for the Version No.
What I need to know is if I can retrieve a line of text from all our asp pages and then populate it into a table with the page URL and the Version number using ASP.
This code works great unless the data strValue doesnt have any new lines or no data... i get the error

Can anybody give me some tips on the best and/or easiest way to display
multiple lines in a field. The data is collected from a "textarea" field
when the form is submitted, and I want to display all of the data (multiple
lines) in a resulting HTML page. The data displays on a single line
(obviously) and does not wrap without manipulation of the string variable.
Is there an easier way to display the data?
