Recordset As Text

I have a sql server 2k db behind an asp site and I want to know how to allow users to download the results of a recordset. I understand it has something to do with the adodb.stream object but I really have no idea just exactly how to put it together.

Recordset To A Text File

My original thought was to save the recordset into a text file. However,
because of permissions I am unable to do this and will not be able to change
the permissions. My next thought was to open it in excel. However, the
table is too large and I get the Cell Table: too many rows or columns error.
I need the user to be able to save the records on her computer.

Server Text Return Recordset

I've got a SQL Server database, and am pulling records from it via ASP.Everything works fine, apart from the field which is stored as 'text' data type in SQL Server. If I change this data type to 'varchar' it works fine, but I need more than 8000 characters, so really I need the data type to be 'text'.Can anyone suggest why this might be happening, and how it could be resolved?

Recordset Dealing With Unlimited Text Field

I'm trying to query a set of data from MSSql which contains field type "text" for unlimited length of characters.

I make a query and store the data into a recordset. However, soon as the page try to access the unlimited field, it seems as if the recordset looses all the data it was holding.

Does anyone know how to get around this problem? or what's causing this? I dont even get an error msg. It just doesn't show anything as if there was nothing there.

International Text And FSO Created Text Files

When using ASP's FileSystemObject to create text files, I am unable to get user submitted text (in Hebrew) to save as anything other than "?????". The text file is being saved in Unicode and setting the CodePage in ASP proved unsuccessful. Strangely, hard coded Hebrew text in an ASP variable does add to the text file correctly.

Any ideas of why this happens and how to get it to work correctly?

Regular Expression Of Text OR Text OR Etc...

I have text in a field coming from a database. The text has various
forms such as:

text1
text1 or text2
text1 or text2 or text3
text1; or text2
text1; or text2; or text3
etc...

how can I parse this with a reg ex? I tried this:

(.+);? or

but it only captures 1 submatch (text1) and only if theres an "or"
after it

I'd like to get 1 submatch for each piece of text separated by the
"or", just the text itself if there is no or.

Anyone know how to do it?

I have a database set up for a survey where in the Answers table I have columns QuestionID, SurveyID, and Answer. Because my survey has about 300 possible questions it's impossible to make a column for each answer. So if I need to select the answers from a specific survey for a specific question and I have about 50 entered in the database my loop will have go keep going for about 15000 times. What I'm trying to find out is if there is a way to create a record set by selecting a survey by it's ID and then when I only have about 300 rows in the record set select answer from the record set using the questionID.
This is to update the answers for the survey. Also, another possibility would be update the recordset and then update the database. Is it possible to do that? Any directions to some code?

how should be the sintax?

I have the following code:
Code:
Set RS = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.RecordSet" )
RS.CursorLocation = 3
RS.Open ("SELECT * FROM " & the_table_name & " WHERE " & job_id_field & "=" & request.querystring("job") &""), cn, adOpenDynamic
Both have connections via the following string:

Code:
set cn = server.createobject("adodb.connection")
cn.Open ("DRIVER={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)}; DBQ=" & Server.MapPath(database_map_path)) & ";"
Only difference is that the newer version has the connection string included in another file, and the "RS.OPEN ..." line on the recordset code gives an error: "Too few parameters". Expected 1.

I have an ASP page that calls ASP routines that I created that execute

through the recordset and display the data in a table. Before I iterate
through the recordset I instruct the browser that the content type is

This works fine with Excel 2003 but with older versions (I tested Excel

displayed in an Excel worksheet.

Page One - Begins with Include files (which contain my subroutines and
databse connection information). Then I have a Select statement to
determine which export users want. When I hit the case I need I then
call a Sub routine that exports the data to Excel. Code:
