I am attempting to design a maintenance program which includes a series of recurring tasks. I would like for the user to be able to assign their tasks to recur similar to the way Outlook does.
I have been searching on the web for quite a while and have been unsuccessful with getting ideas on how to start this. I would like to use ASP VB or JavaScript.
Does anyone have any suggestions or links that could point me in the right direction?
I'm trying to work out a recurring date by asking the user to select the new date by selecting an option of: First, Second, Third, Fourth or Last week of the month.
What I already know is the specific date which I need to add the new dates to.
My dilema is that I don't know how to work out First, Second, Third..etc. I'm thinking that when I work out the first part I will just need to use the DateAdd function, but in this case I'm not sure about that either.
I initially tried building a coded system where numbers 1 through 10
referenced a certain type of recurring appointment, and would then call a
specific function for each, but as more appointments were added things began
to slow down quite a bit.
I've taken a different approach since, and decided
to create a single record for each recurring appointment, but this has
problems as well due to the fact that I have to search each time slot going
all the way out to the specified end date/time.
What is the most efficient way to create recurring appointments using ASP
and SQL Server?
i have some lines of codes.. probably i'll make it a function..
i want the function to be executed every 24 hours or some other stated time.how do i do that?
i need to create a xml file with asp. I think i can handle that part but before i start is there a way to create an xml then have it upload that file when it's not really creating a new page? hopfully that makes sense. so i need to create a xml file with asp then upload it to an ftp using asp.

mailinglist. And when i send them mails it takes kinda long since i attach a
..pdf file each time. so i was wondering if there is a way in asp to create a
task on the webserver using asp to trigger a script that sends the mails.
sure i could use server.scripttimeout but the thing is that i dont want to
wait 30 seconds for the page to finish loading. and if there will be 3000 in
near future i'll have to wait for a very loooooong time.

you have a DB that contains about 2000 records.
Assume that the records are houses with addresses, already known to the user,
[remember, there are rooms, bathrooms fireplaces, garages etc].
What I want is this:
A user enters a known address in the form. The form seaches the DB and returns the address with full details.
That is, search results will be like,
Address 1234, number of rooms 3, bathrooms 3 etc.
If the address the user seached for is not found, the user is redirected to a page that prompts them to add it
to the DB. Also I would like for it [search results] to open in a mini window with an option for the user to close window after reviewing the records.
I have thought of using a drop-down but discarded that, 'cos what happens if the DB records gets to be in the thousands?
I am trying to create a Function to delete records in database on daily basis. I am stuck with date/time.
Sql:

How can I rewrite my sql to delete records daily at 8.00pm?

I would like to 'reuse' the existing logic in the asp
page.
How can I create a server process to do this?
The closest I can figure out is to hook the logic into a
application/session start logic in global.asa where it
would run everytime a new session was started, but I would
like it to run like a cron job every 5 minutes. Code:
I have a table which stores details of businesses. These businesses have associated links to 2 tables called areas and categories. What I would like to be able to do is display a list of all the businesses in a particular area with a breakdown of all the different categories in that area together with a corresponding count of records.
i.e. pull out all the businesses for a given area and order by business category
then for each category, display a count of the records in that particular category in that area.
Is it possible to run an asp page as a scheduled task?
View Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know if its possible to send an Outlook task from an ASP page running on a Windows 2000 Server on an intranet. There is also Microsoft Exchange Server on the same network which handles Outlook mailboxes.
The Windows 2000 server will soon be upgraded to Wndows 2003, if that makes a difference.
Is it possible to create an outlook task item from ASP? I tried using server.createobject("Outlook.application") but the page just hangs without output. I use CDO.message for mails.
