This is a simple report that is supposed to render as an Excel document, for some reason it's not anymore, not sure why, I think it's related to permissions, we recently added a domain user as the anonymous user for the site, everyone has permissions to the virtual directory where the asp page is executed... i have a field which contains html code, which is then rendered as a layout for several templates.the user can change the template if they so wish. the layout html is currently stored as a varchar 8000 - but 8000 characters is not enough for detailed layouts.
i dont know where to begin on this problem, does anybody have any useful links. i would search in more detail but i dont know the procedure is called for what i am doing
what i need to do, is have the asp refer to a html/text file and render the html directly from that file? Is this possible? or is there any other such ways to do the same thing.
Building An ASP Site Using Dreamweaver - Can Html Site Be On ASP Server?
I am to build a site onto an ASP server. Anyone here used Dreamweaver and is it just a simple matter of opening up a new ASP page in Dreamweaver and build the site like you would normally do with a HTML page and it will handle the ASP coding accordingly and you can just simply upload it onto an ASP server and it will work?
The site I am to build is basically just a standard html website, but my friend wants me to build it for an ASP server so he has asked me to make sure it is an asp site so I am presuming with the extension .asp
If I build it as a html site to begin with, will converting it to asp be hard. Could I just export my pages into asp or is there more to it?

Dynamic Web Site Hit Counter.
I'm a senior windows application developer and have been given an asp website for updating. The site I am updating is a dynamic site. The main page is a list of cities and when a person clicks on the city (cityID link), a new page comes up with city information depending on which cityID was clicked.
I need to create a hit counter to record the number of hits per city and these hits need to be recorded daily.
Would it be wise to create an application variable for each cityID and record the number of daily hits per to a database or file? Should I record each click? Which would be better? would it be slow, saving to a dbase if there is an average of 100,000 hits a day?
Trying To Get My JMail HTML Message To Work With My Site
I have been trying to get the JMail.GetMessageBodyFromURL
"http://mydomain.com" command to work, but all I get back is a very sparse
HTML message in MS Outlook 2002 on WinXP SP2 UK.
I've checked and made sure that Outlook can accept HTML emails, but the
problems I am experiencing are:
a) The placeholders are there, but none of the pics come through.
b) The external stylesheet has gone out the window.
c) If I click on any of the links a dialogue appears asking where I want to
save the exe.
I have a feeling that problems (a) and (b) relate to the fact that the paths
are relative to the site and Outlook needs the absolute, but how can this be
easily corrected without changing the whole site?

Sending Dynamic Html Email
I am currently building an emailing system into our asp management system. From this we will be able to setup mail templates (html stored in mssql database) and select who we want to send them to.The html in the database is only the middle part of the html file being sent. All the emails are based on the same design template using a single html file to which I pass a variable saying which body to get from the database <%=writeBody%>. So far this is all working fine and the emails are sending using cdo.

Need Help Sending CDO Email With Dynamic HTML Attachment
I'm using CDO SYS to send email messages. I can attach a file just fine.
However, I need to attach an HTML page that's generated on the fly by my
ASP code. The attachment source code gets assembled into a VB string. How
do I attach this? I think there was an easy way in CDONTS but that's no

inserting dynamic page code in .html page? i.e. i would like to insert a code which will display links. where my homepage link extension is .html. if it is .asp it would have been very easy. and also i would have worked fine. but now the problem is the homepage index file extension is .html.
so if i insert the code it is not displaying the links. i tried inserting the code in a separate file and saved as file.inc and gave the link from home page <!--#include file="file.inc"--> but still the link is not showing and not working.

I'm doing a content management system, whereby the user can enter the HTML code for a currency symbol, eg £ for £.y . when I bring this data backup, say they want to edit the settings, then my ASP/HTML page is rendering the HTML code, eg £, rather than showing the original value, eg £.
If for example I put a space between the '&' and the 'pound;', eg & pound; then this will cause me problems because the user will think that they have to a put a space in or they file it with the space, which means the HTML code won't work any more. Is there a way round this?

i have a slight background in HTML and basic web dev. I have been asked to create basically the following, it will be my project over the next couple of months. I basically want to build an e-commerce website that will take all data from a database. It all needs to be dynamic, products added to the database would automatically update in the website, the navigation also needs to be dynamic, it needs to be low maintainence, i aim to have the checkout to save customers details to a seperate database, the payment process would have completed, no payment details would be saved.

I'm looking to eliminate all lag on my site and I have a couple questions regarding databases. Is it possible to open 2 ADODB connections at once? I want to put my sites boards on a different database than everything else but I want to get user information to update in the main db. How would I go about doing this?
Does closing all the stuff you opened in your ADODB connection make a difference? Does it resuly in the use of more bandwidth and site lag?

i've got a local server on another pc (ip address:192.168.1.243) but when I want to connect to ASP site that's on that computer it can't. when type "http://192.168.1.243" in my browser it returns this:
IE says: "impossible to find the page" and Firefox says: "the operation timed out when attempting to contact 192.168.1.243". I know that ASP works, because when we try it on the localhost it works (but that's not my computer so I can't use it).

in the past days the counter has gone wild & count goes from 300 in ordinary days to 1000.

Two Domains, One Site
I have a situation where I have a customer with one e-comm site and two domain names. Both domains currently point to the one site but they want different logos and purchase tracking for each domain name as visitors come through. I am not that well versed in using the HTML headers but somewhere I seem to recall a way of using the headers to identify the url/domain and then redirect or setup session variables for handling the rest.
If this is ringing a bell with anyone I could use a pointer to more info on this.
