Retrieving SessionID
if it is possible to retrieve the session id inside the sub Session_OnEnd in global.asa? This is because i want to delete rows from database based on the sessionID that has just ended.

Sessionid Changes
I have a piece of code on two computers. On my work pc the sessionid is constant and doesn't change. Whereas on my home PC, everytime I refesh the page or go back to it, it increments itself.Can anyone tell me why this is the case, as I thought the Sessionid was individual to each browser session.

we are implementing WSDPro here for load
balancing. So, when someone comes in they may get
redirected to www1.domain.com, www2.domain.com, etc. When
they first come in, they hit www.domain.com, and then get
redirected to 1, 2, 3 , etc. The problem is, in our
solution, we are setting a session variable before the
redirect, and are losing it as the SessionID is changing
because it is acting like we are changing servers. It is
my understanding that the SessionID is really just a
cookie, and since other cookies can have their domain
changed, this one should as well. Something
like .Domain=".domain", which should handle everything in
from of the domain. We ahve tried to change this in the
Global.asa and got a "you can't do this error", 162 I
believe

I have a simple page that uses session variables. Yes, it's in a
frameset, yes I've look at aspfaq.com, yes I've tried loading the
independet pages in their own window, yes i've tried praying to god.
It works fine every *other* refresh.
the session variables seem to totally disappear, then, upon refresh
they come back, then, upon refresh again, they disappear.
on, off, on, off.
Upon closer inspection, I found that the sessionid is changing. but
not randomly.
I'll get 229104087, then 229063070 the next refresh, then back to
229104087, etc.
wut's up?
Get ASP-SessionID
When I hit my homepage the first time (e.g. after a reboot), the server variable HTTP_COOKIE is empty. If I reload the page, HTTP_COOKIE has got a value. This makes sense, but I'm looking to request HTTP_COOKIE on the first page hit. Any ASP-based ideas?
(Otherwise I'll program a page reloader...)

Recyling Of SessionID In ASP.NET 2.0
When a new request is made to the server a new session id is issued to the
client (a browser instance). The problem I’m facing is that session id that
is already assigned to a browser instance is getting recycled for another
browser instance by ASP.NET When the client request is sent to Http server,
the available session id’s (that is already present in the pool) are recycled
from the session pool along with the authentication cookie. Again when a new
request was being done, then available session id is passed on to the client
causing Mix-up of sessions.
The formsauthentication ticket (cookie) is also getting recycled along with
the session cookie session.
Forms authentication ticket is issued if the user selects save me option in
login page. If the user selects save, then the user id is stored in a cookie encrypted
by forms authentication ticket. Code:
Math Behind The Sessionid
how unique the sessionid is in ASP. What is the math behind it's creation, and what are the probobolities of it being reproduced, i.e. 1/10000? or 1 in twenty million? Can someone give me some guidance on this? I'm trying to create some unique numbers for
data assignement, and would like a way that does not replicate.

we've the following problem :
We have an asp-application which sets the cookie on first login. The cookie
will never be touched during user access. The user can work the whole day,
but after 6 to 7 hours, the cookie get 2-4 new asp-sessionid's thus
overwriting the very first entries in the cookie. Does anyone had the same
problem or has a solution. The server is a w2003 enterprise the client has
windows xp sp2.
Why Outlook Creating Different SessionId For A Single Session
I am running my web application from with in Outlook.I found a strange
problem that it is creating different sessionId if i open a new window

Retrieving Qty
I have three different tables I will be pulling stuff from: user_info, img_inv, activitylog:
user_info I will be using their ID and state
img_inv I will be using part number
activitylog I will be using part number and date

Retrieving Cookie Value
I want to retrieve the value of a cookie to make a form a little more user friendly (our intranet is configured to set a cookie for User First Name, Last Name and Email when they log in)
Unfortunately I can't figure out how to retrieve the value of the cookie. I've been trying:

I have a form that send values to a second page. i m trying to compare the values received from the form with other values retrieved from a database. so if a value already exists then an error message is displayed. in order to compare the values i need to print them on the second page but I m bit stuck with this. i used request.form("category") in order to retrieve the values from the form but it doesn t work.
Retrieving Time
I am trying to get a field populated in an oracle database with a time stamp of when a form is submitted.
I have found out that there is a table in Oracle called DUAL which holds the current date and time. At present i can populate the date when the form is submitted using objrs('sub_date')=date() but when i query the database the time element of the field sub_date, the time displayed is 00:00 which is the default time.
So can anyone give me any help in how i can capture the time. I know about select to_char(sub_date,'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI') which will bring up the time but i can seem to populate the field sub_date with the time.
Retrieving Page Name
I am trying to retrieve the page name. I know this is possible using Server Variable PATH_INFO. The problem I am having though is that when I get to a page in one of my subdirectories the subdirectory name is displayed.
Example: my page index.asp is in the the admin directory so the PATH_INFO displays as /admin/index.asp. How can I strip the page name out so I get index.asp. I cannot use the function Right() since the page name could be any length.

Let's assume that i just modified MyResume.xls file and save it today(10/30/2003) on my computer, then i upload it into the internet. On my asp page, i want to show all files Filename (Last Modified) in MyDocs folder.

Storing And Retrieving UTF-8
I'm writing a vbscript application that reads UTF-8 XML containing Chinese
characters and stores the data in MySql 4.0.x.
Does anybody have any experience in this area with regarding codepage and
character sets? Ideally I want the scripts to be able to handle Standard
European characters and Chinese characters as well.
Are there any special considerations for using MySql/ODBC and ADO to get and
put the data.
Retrieving Files
Right I have my files going into the database, and once successfully uploaded, a user is shown a few bits of information in a table such as the primary key, name of file, its size and the content type.Now i want to create <a href> links on the homepage etc so that browsers/users can download these files one at a time. So when they click the link, the Save.Open or Cancel dialog box appears. Have been trying different things for few days now but finally thought I better ask for some help as Im gettin nowhere.

I have a SQL statement to retreive results based on keywords entered
I only want to show the first 200 characters of the field though, how would I modify this code to do just that?
