Just wondering. I am developing a blog. I would like to display the message post on the blog to be limited to, say, 100 words rather than the whole message itself as this will increase the page length.
I would like to know if there is a method to count the words from the record in database and display only 100 hundred words from the actual message..
I am trying to setup a form in Dreamweaver where I have a list box (Car Batteries, Antifreeze, Paint, etc.)
How do I setup the page up so that when an item is selected and they hit the submit button it will send them to another page returns just the information from that item on the database and not the entire database?
I am submitting data to a database field, and the data is being submitted in the following manner to a table in the database:
5,3,4,4,3,3,4,5,4,5,5
It's all comma delimeted. Now, what I would like to do is have an update page in which a user can update these values. I am trying to place the values in a repeated text box that corresponds with a repeated question.
The questions that I am displaying are in a repeated field and each question has a text box that will hold the value that corresponds to. I would like to be able to bring in each value into a repeated text box. Right now, each repeated text box contains the above information. (5,3,4,4,3,3,4,5,4,5,5). Is this possible?
I have a search set up on my site to compare between two <select> values and the value in the data base, but not sure if I have the sql statment correct, my search returns all rows from the table, I want specific row that is between one form select and another... ie. below
for this particular example I want to know if the database AD_PRICE field is between <select name=price> and <select name=price1> and if so, return the only those rows, currently all rows are being returned... Code:
I am trying to write a web application that can retrieve information from an access database, store it in a recordset, update it, then update the access database. However, when I try to update the recordset, I get an error (500).
I have checked my field names a million times (so I am pretty sure it isn't a spelling mistake or anything like that), but nothing is working. I included my code so you can take a look at it. Code:
I am currently working on a document management system for my company's Marketing department. They wish to be able to upload files to the server.
Rather than deal with the many permissions issues we have had in the past with saving and deleting these files to the server's file system, this time we are trying to use SQL server BLOB fields to store the files.
The premise is simple -- a user clicks on the link and the file is then shown in the browser. The documents are mostly word, Quark, and Adobe Illustrator documents. I was thinking the code would go something like this: Code:
I have sucessfully installed IIS 5.1 on XP Pro, and have validated a couple of test .asp pages.
When I try to connect to Access through Front Page, i get the following error:
The Database Results component on this page is unable to display database content. The page must have a filename ending in '.asp', and the web must be hosted on a server that supports Active Server Pages.
I am using a Replace function to replace single quotes with double when submitting a text field in the database i.e. Replace (q, "'", "' ' ") which works fine. When I retrieve the field from the database which has apostrophe I am getting 'Object expected' error message. Is there a way to fix this?
I have about 26 checkboxes that place all of my contacts into categories so in my database for contacts i have a field called categories that contains all of the categeories that each contact belongs to seperated by a ",". 1,5,17 etc.

I have this page with photo thumbnails that are clickable. Each photo has corresponding info saved on a database. When the thumbnail is click, im trying to show the data in an asp page called info.asp.
sample: Photo #1 when clicked goes to: info.asp?no=1 Photo #2 when clicked goes to: info.asp?no=2 so on so forth..
the database fields are: no picname date details
I only know how to display ALL info from a database.
But i cant figure out how to display SPECIFIC info triggered by a query string. Example. Photo #1 is clicked. I only want the data that corresponds to Photo 1 to be displayed. How can i do this?
I want to seach though the drives i.e c or d drives and find for the folders and subfolders and even the files and by that order only it should be inserted into the database.I am using MSACCESS database.
I am trying to search for clients contained within a database using multiple search criteria that the user is able to select using a front end form.
The user is able to select there criteria by selecting one or more check boxes and the results are thus retrieved based on what the user has selected. The search works fine until you try and select multiple client types Code:
I get somthing like "Max Connection limit is reached" error msg when trying to access a page. I wonder it is got to do with winxp pro sp2 patch which only limit 10 tcp connections? Running ms access as database and IIS 5.1.
We have a Windows 2003 Web Edition running IIS 6.0. For some reasons, using ADODB.Stream I can only download a maximum of 19994 KB of file. ADODB.Stream will fails on 19995KB size. No matter how high I set the ASPBufferingLimit, I am still being limited to 19994 KB.
I've got a string thats about to be entered into a bog standard Access 2000-type MDB . Thing is, I want to maintain the purity of my code when it gets outputted (yes, I'm a web-standards freak, so what? ) Anyway, I want it to insert a CRLF and 4 tabs every 12 whole words (or 75 letters if you can't split a string by words) . how I can do this with VB's limited number of built-in functions (... face it, PHP's function list kinda dwarf's VBs) -1337_d00d .
I'm making a multiple-choice questionnaire for a site which will have multiple sections/pages. All content for the questionnaire will be databased, as the user will be asked a random selection of these, and responses given will also be databased.
Although building the questionnaire itself should not be an issue, I have been asked to limit the time that the end-user has to complete it in its entirety to 30mins. Can anyone help me solve this issue so that assuming the questionnaire has not yet been completed, 30mins after the user has been shown the first question, the current page is submitted and the user is sent to the results page.

I have a clickable graph that resides on page 1. If user clicks a data point on the graph, the page runs again yeilding a 2nd graph that shows a more detailed graph.
Problem is, I have a recordset table on the 2nd graph page and because the user gets to it by clicking the graph, the page doesn't properly post to render the recordset table. I can click "Refresh" on 2nd page and table displays fine.
Is there an ASP refresh command that I could possibly run to mimick a "Refresh" or F5?
let's say that I want to highlight some words or even a square of a table in yellow...how would i go about doing that? What code would work to do what I need?
I'm having a problem in displaying a selected option from the drop down list in words. But after I selected an option, nothing is being displayed, I think the value can't be passed at all. Please let me know how to fix it.
<td align=center width=20%>Fruit: <select name=""FruitName"> <% " If not myRS.eof Then while not myRS.eof %> <option value="<%=myRS.fields("ID")%>"<%If FId = myRS.fields("ID") Then response.write "selected"%>><%=myRS.fields("FName")%></option> <% myRS.MoveNext wend %> </select>

I have a database field that is a memo type. I would like to be able to only display the first 50 words from the database. I would like for it to show ..... after about 50 words.
I am using <%=Content %>. How do I trim this field to show only 50 words and then ....?
I tried the following code: Function LengthTrim(input, length) If Len(input) > length Then Return Left(input, length) + "..." Else Return input End If End Function
then <%= LengthTrim(Content, 50) %>
But it would not work. I got the following error message:
Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a01f4'Variable is undefined: 'Return' .
i am having trouble getting my REPLACE fn. to replace whole words only. basically, i'm running a 'spelling checker' fn. that uses the REPLACE fn. to find incorrect spellings and replace them. problem is, the fn. seems to replace all instances of a string, and not a whole word only as I intend it to be:
Code as follows:
StrInput = Request.Form("BKM_Search") StrInput = LCase(StrInput) 'convert all to lowercase StrInput = Trim(StrInput)'trim all empty space b4 & after string StrCorrect = Replace(a_StrWrong, a_StrRight,1,1,1)
Let's say I want to replace the word "sea" with "ZZZ" only:
Example input: "Sean has some neat sea shells" Example output: "ZZZn has some neat ZZZ shells"
I have to develop a spell checker from scratch using asp language. as i'm a newbie with asp, there are still a lot of things that i don't understand. How can I add new words to my list of dictionary sorted alpabetically?
Do i need to use the database for this function? Can anyone show me? or if anyone knows of any websites that i can refer to.
strTemp="Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit, sed"
and I am searching the string for another string 'amet', for example. How would I go about getting my page to output the word I search for and say 10 chars to the left and 10 to the right? So, in this case, I'd like to be be able to search the string with any other string ['amet' for example] and have it output this:
wondering if its possible to have some kind of searched word highlight! IE. every thing it throws up in return of search it will highlight why it has brought it up! so if search "a" all "a" in return results would be highlighted.
is it possible (i heard u can replace) to filter out bad words using regexp? I'm using Replace() but it sucks without ALOT of extra code... but using regexp it seems better, with ignorecase, etc.
