SQL String Variable Problem
I am trying to simply pass a variable set by 1 recordset into this string. The nOrderID variable is passed no problem but the nProductID remains empty.
I have checked that the variable contains a value by doing a response.write before the string is executed and it contains the number I was expecting, but when I do a response.write of the SQL String it writes out as expected but misses the variable value at the end.
This must be a simple issue but I can't spend much more time fixing it,? The SQL String is below:

How would you get the first two characters out of a string variable to make an asp:label respond a certain way. For example:
The string is "F112345678995" I would like to pull the "F1" out so that an asp label will respond "No match".
Is this as clear as mud?? If you need further clarification let me know. Also can you use a trim statement like in VB?

Is there any way to pass session variables between two websites ( diff domains) ?
I've two websites and I want to integrate them.
I used to use the querystring but there is a limit to length of the querystring.
I've tried ASP-TEAR but I doubt it can work.
Is there any other way to pass any variable to another website.

I have a batch file that takes variables from the cmd and passes them by sqlcmd to an SQL script. When I pass the variable 'MikeTestList' the script runs as expected with no problems. When I passed 'BulkTransferTest' I got an error message, 'The string or binary data will be truncated'.
Some testing has shown that I get the error when the string is anything above 12 characters. Is there a limit to the length of a string you can pass using sqlcmd from a batch file? Is there any way around it?
Also, if I have a space in the string, it only passes the string up to the space. I have tried to fill it with a '%' which then gets passed as is, so the % stays in place through out the script. Code:

I'm developing an Asp.NET system to take a CSV file uploaded via the web, parse it, and insert the values into an SQL database. My sticking point comes when I try to split() the string returned by readline() on the file.
The following code snippet works for me:
tokens = "one,two,three,four".Split(",")
for each token in tokens
response.write("<td>"+token+"</td>")
next
However, if I take the next line in the CSV, read using StreamReader.ReadLine on the PostedFile.InputStream, I receive "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." which I have narrowed down to be my string holding the line. Further investigation reveals that no other string member functions work on my line (.ToCharArray, .ToString, etc).
I suspect that StreamReader.ReadLine is not correctly returning a string, even though Response.Write(line) displays what I would expect .....

Another question: is there a special syntaxis for asp conditions in condition?
I tried this code it doesn t work:
If Condition Then
If 2nd condition Then
ElseIf Then
End If
End If
And it works only when I remove the 2nd condition's End If and the ElseIf. Seems strange, no?

I've been given an ASP app written with server side javascript. This app needs to get the username of the person currently logged in to windows (Request.ServerVariables("AUTH_USER") in vbscript). I found a way to get this variable in javascript, but then it wouldn't let me split it (server kept saying method not supported). So I've gave up on getting the username with javascript, and have set variables in VBscript at the top of my page. How do I access those variables within the javascript portion?

I am tring to search a database with an SQL statement via a web page. I am using Dreamweaver to build my page. The search works great when I hard code the table field into the Recordset. However, I would like to implement a variable on the field in the table to do the search on.
For Instance, a user can make a selection in a drop down box and then enter the text in a text field. I am having trouble implementing the drop down box variable into the code. I suspect I need the WHERE to be a variable just as the LIKE parameter but I keep getting errors. Code:

how can I name a variablewith the value of another variable to make the first more dynamic.Code:
<%
sql = "SELECT * FROM table"
set rs = cnn.execute(sql)
submodule = rs("ID_submodule")
counter_"submodule" = 0
%>
The idea is where it says "submodule" is the value of the submodule, because this part of the code is a loop that checks all the table registries. Then the 0 would be 1, 2, 3.. depending of the quantity of registries associated with the ID_submodule related.
