After a number of wrong turns and experiments I need advice on login management system to secure our web pages without inconveniencing our visitors or our internal staff.
i need A system whereby the user only has to register ONCE and he will have automatic entry to ANY page without havinto to RE-LOGIN even if he comes in two weeks later or comes directly to that page via an email link. This scenario seems built on the Amazon model of the 'gold box' which automatically remembers you through cookies.
If the user does not have cookies he has to re-login. help me identify a 3rd party product that does this or a route to achieve this in my code.
I need to secure my web page, when it is reading a file from the physical folder. Say for eg.. I have a page Page1.aspx, which displays a list of links that corresponds to the available text files in one of the files. All the other pages are secured except this page. So when I click the link, it redirects it to for eg.. http://localhost/folder1/one.txt. But this should not happen. As the user can type this without even logging into the website. So I need to know how to stream this file and display it in another page, rather than just showing it.
Iīve made a loginpage in asp, and a page that receives the data from the form and logs you in. But how do i make the loginpage secure? Do i have to use https, and if so, how do i change from http to https when the loginpage is included in another asp-file?I donīt know if i have explained myself correctly
We have a need to allow our users to enter Credit Card #'s on a web page, so we need a secure page (have the little lock at the bottom of the browser) in order to do this.
1) What is this called? (I've heard the term SSL (Secure Socket Layer)tossed around, I don't know if this is the same or something different).
2) If I need a certificate of some sort for our server, how do I get it?
I have used the "Microsoft.XMLHTTP" object to successfully download web pages from other sites.
However, I need to download a page from a secure page. Can anyone point me to sample code for that? I need to "post" data to a form on that page, so any sample code for that would also be helpful.
How can I secure the pages for login users in a "professional way"? I could set a global variable to true when a user successfully sign in but that's not how the experts do it right?

I am working on automating a workflow process for my company. Part of the process requires the user to send a snapshot of their benefits from a secure web site to their manager. I am trying to extract the web page using Microsoft.XMLHTTP but am having problems due to user validation which is required to access the benefits web page. There are 2 layers.
First, user is required to login with user name and password, then user is redirected to another page that asks for PIN. Only if both authentications pass, the user is considered validated and is redirected to the benefits page. I am not able to through any of the validation pages. What can I do?
Any idea's on how to make a PDF secure? I don't want anybody to be able to type in the location to the pdf file in the browser and download it. Suggestions please!!!???
I work for a large chain coporation. My schedule is posted on their secure web site which I have a user name and a password for. I want to create a URL string that can be sent (using VBA inside of Outlook) which contain my username and passsword and allow me access to my schedule information.
I have been working with ASP classic on this current project im involved in. Well the problem im facing now is there is a page where a flash movie should play in a particular section on the page but it wont play on the secure pages, on the unsecure pages it plays fine. I had added an Active X work in accordance with the Lawsuit issue but it still wont play.
I've written (using Dreamweaver) an Intranet for my business. It works great but I've used sessions for logging users in. Therefore when they close explorer they have to log in each time. How can I convert my pages into ones that store their login? I'm thinking cookies, but I have no idea what to do?
On my site the homepage is accessible by all. The other pages need a password. When a visitor clicks a link, they get redirected to the login page instead of the page that they want to see. That part is under control.
If they provide the right password, they need to be sent to the page that they clicked. How do I do that?
How do I keep IIS from caching/remembering username/password?
Here is the situation:
I have created an asp script which sits on server1. The script makes an http call to server2 using the vb object msxml2.xmlhttp. The server2 requires authentication. If I pass the username and password as part of the "open" method of the object..everything works fine. When I get rid of the username and password and make the call again...it uses the username and password from the last call..and It'll keep using that username and password until I restart server1.
What I want to be able to do is create a user control that will display an entire page page within it. Does anyone know how to do this or better yet have any same code?
Problem is when there is an error with one of the other fields and the press reloads the county is reset to Select County how can i remember this value.
I am going to have a form on one page that will have a bunch of options(checkboxes, radio buttons, text areas, text fields, etc.) and these options are going to deal with a certain category. Each category will have different options. Now after this form is filled out they will then proceed to another page to fill out contact information. Name, Addy, State, City, etc.
Now, after they fill this contact form out they will submit it and then it will go through a database and depending on what state and county they are in it will email the information from both forms to the email addresses in the database that match that state and county(as well as category). Now dont worry I aint wondering how to actually search the db and all that yet.
All I want to know right now is how do you remember the first forms information while you go to the second page to fill out the contact information? Using cookies? What? I dont want the form input to be displayed on the second page, just remembered.
So I will select all my options from the first form and fill out all the text areas and fields and all that then click on the Next button or whatever, then fill out contact info.
How do I get it to retain BOTH forms information, and for now just display both of them on a third page(like I said I will worry about the db query and email crap later). I hope this makes sense.
i have an ecommerce site that is split across two domains, a secure space that retains cc details and the main site where contact information and order details are held. I need to be able to produce a report that displays both sets of info in a printable document. aside from using iframes is there a better way of doing this?
I have a login page. and more users. Let's call them users A, users B and Users C. Users A can only access page A, users B page B, ... All the pages uses the same DB, but different tables (table A, table B, table C).
Based on users selection from two drop-down lists I want to take them to a page specific to that combination when they click a button. For example, In the first drop-down, the user selects from a list of colors (red, blue, or green).
In the second drop-down, they choose the type (car, van, truck). When they click a button, I want to take them to page specific to what they selected - say a red truck (redtruck.htm). I am not sure how to combine IF or CASE statements with button action.
I am trying to create a page where a registed user can save a search to their member page. So if they see a cottage they like they can save it to their member page.
This is what i have so far This is what passes username and prop_no over to my userupdate page:
Is it possible to redirect a user to another web page using ASP code located in page body?
I have some ASP code that runs after generating some output to the browser. It checks for a condition that can only be calculated using the values produced in the output, so redirecting the user before the <html> tag isn't possible without running the code twice.so RESPONSE.REDIRECT "url" won't work.
I have VBS code that will Enumerate all the Printers in the AD and Add the Printer Connection to the client... I'm just not a web developer so I need some example code or hand-holding on the web integration portion.

I have this situation where I have one shared folder on particular server and this folder is shared for just one user to access it. I wrote an asp page wich should open a file from that shared folder. However because the folder is shared for just one user I have somehow to run the asp page as this user.
The same way like in ASP.NET application where I can use impersonation in web.config file. Is this possible?
I have an ASP page that runs for at least 2 mins. What the user sees is a progress bar as the page is completing execution of scripts so they know that something is being processed.
The ASP page can be quite CPU intensive and I've found that if the user decides to close the page the CPU usage does not appear to drop back to its normal levels whereas on sucessful completion of the page the CUP usage does drop to normal levels.
Now I know that after a while the CPU usage does drop to its normal levels, however, I'm weary that this could be a long time if there are simultaneous access to the same page.
My question is, is there a way of controlling this via scripts? ie. can I force the webserver(iis) to timeout the script sooner or is there a way i can kill the instruction been sent...

I have a user based service where each user has their own information, user settings, etc. I want to be able to add tables in my user settings and allow the users to enter in their IM Service (AIM, Yahoo, MSN, etc) and their screen name/user name.
That is the easy part.
What I do not understand or cannot figure out is how to link this information to the icons for each service they enter that will open up the appropriate service with their correct IM name, etc.
Basically I want to provide a way for my members to IM another member when they pull up that users information, or associated information, etc. Basically I need the script to make the Icon execute the correct IM service if the user clicking on it has the service installed as well. The majority of my members use AIM.
Where can I find information on how to install this kind of script and associate it with the users information and an icon?
Is there a way to dynamically add drill down lists and input boxes to the HTML page. For example if the user clicks in a button it adds a new line contains one drilldown list + two input text boxes?
I have set of mp3 files as a list (DownloadFiles.asp). The user can click on any of the mp3 files to download(Download_Porcess.asp).After downloading the file the user has to redirect to the DownloadFiles.asp.
In Download_Process.asp to force the save dialog box. This works fine. This allows the user to download the file. After downloading this mp3 file, this file should not be displayed in the list ie in (DownloadFiles.asp).
How can i do this?
I am not able to redirect from Download_Process.asp to DownloadFiles.asp, b'coz I used response.binarywrite.
