I have <select muliple> in one of my update forms - ASP. This update form also handles a file upload (enctype="multipart/form-data"). The problem is I am not getting the mutiple values of the select option after submission. Only the value of the first option selected is retrieved. How can I fix this or modify the script to get all the values selected.
View RepliesI am using a basic ASP script to allow users to request a resource using an online.I use the Request.Form methods a lot in the script but at the end of it I want to send an email with an attachment from the client PC.I have tried using the BinaryRead function to upload the file sucessfully however mixing it with forms that get information from a previous page/step using Request.Form fails.
I know this is an issue however does anyone know of a really easy way of continuing to use the Form and uploading a file.
From withing ASP code? What exactly do you mean? FTP'ing? From a browser?

I'm developing an Asp.NET system to take a CSV file uploaded via the web, parse it, and insert the values into an SQL database. My sticking point comes when I try to split() the string returned by readline() on the file.
The following code snippet works for me:

However, if I take the next line in the CSV, read using StreamReader.ReadLine on the PostedFile.InputStream, I receive "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." which I have narrowed down to be my string holding the line. Further investigation reveals that no other string member functions work on my line (.ToCharArray, .ToString, etc).
I suspect that StreamReader.ReadLine is not correctly returning a string, even though Response.Write(line) displays what I would expect .....
I'm trying to create a page to upload multiple files to the server and then place the file information into a table on a db.Then I want to be able to create a page that will display the db table on multiple tables in a form.Can someone point me in the right direction on where to begin? I believe I almost have my page to work uploading the files to the server.

have found some sample code to help but you have to type in the directory
name when you run the page.

I'm having a problem with the fact that I want to allow image files to be uploaded to a remote web server, as the hosting package the web site is on is IIS6 and has a default file upload size limit of 200kb. As it's a shared hosting package, the default limit cannot be changed for me unfortunately.
Anyway - i need to check the size of the file being uploaded, so i can notify the user and prevent them getting the default Microsoft error message page. The problem is that I can't implement a server side size check which works, using either Request.TotalBytes or load.getFileSize (with "load" being an object of my loader class). It seems that I can't carry out any of these operations when the file size is too large.
I would like to add a facility to my web page which allows users to upload basic files (word, excel, text, gif, jpg etc) to the server.
I know there's a facility to do this using HMTL forms, but I don't know how to handle the file on the server side.
What I think I need is an ASP file running some code to manipulate the filesystemobject, allowing me to receive the file and store it in the filesystem on the server. It would be nice to access some of the file properties too (name, type etc).
I've seen a few custom components online which allow you to do this, but I can't depend on installing them. I need to be able to script it myself.

I want to speed this up as much as possible thus once the item is downloaded a user should open up a page and it should detect the newest file and then begin to edit this.
(Finds | and splits down by product so I can do type of posting and if 2 items need 1 label then don;t waste or if going royal mail instead put into another database!)
So basically - can I select newest file from folder as there is no easy pattern name wise. In terms of the name the batch number goes up once per day and so it xyz99.txt so I would need to find 99.txt etc...

associated with it, which browses for the file and directly startes the
