I need to parse a string from a single, semi-colon delimited, 60 character field (el_text) in a recordset and display the results in a table on a webpage (ASP)
I can retrieve the recordset from the database and display the field data results in rows of a table but have the entire 60 character string in one cell. I need to break that string apart and put each semi-colon delimited value in it's own cell. Then move to the next record and do the same thing in the next row of the table. - and so on
I'm using ASP, VB Script with DMSII Database and OLEDB
Does anyone have some code examples on how to break this field apart and then arrange the data into an html table on a webpage?
What i am trying to do is Update data in a table with data in another table but i want to update 2 fields in the destination table with data from 1 field in another table.

I am using a db to hold student data records. I currently display them in a roster based on their affiliation with a certain class. To edit a record I need to click the name of an individual, it opens an edit page, I make the changes, hit submit and return to the roster.
This is pretty standard stuff. What I would like to do is change one field of every record without opening each record individually. The idea comes from my Fantasy Fball league roster:
Where the example above says "ActiveReserve" is a pull down menu that lets me change who is playing week to week. I can then change each record, hit submit one time, and update the db. So how do they do it?
I have a problem in inputing single code(') string into the SQL database. I wrote in ASP language and connect to the SQL server to insert the data. If the data contains single code string (e.g women's group)the syntax error appears and it stops. I tried to change the double code(")instead of single one to insert the data and then, it also has error "does not permit column name ...." or something like that. How can i solve the problem to input the data that contains single code(')?
I have a page that will display a list of locations from an SQL DB. Users need to be able to sort and/or search these locations by industry
Each location has a 4 character desgnation, the 3rd character of which indicates industry. How do I query the DB in an ASP page to recognize ONLY the third character in the string?
I have aproblem to transfer a data from table x to table y based on id. Its mean when 2 table have same id all data table x must move to table y. I don't know which command need to use is it insert into or update?
<% Dim conn Dim rs Dim MYSQL,MYSQL2

An application is logging faxes sent in SQL2000 image column type. I have found code on the net but what it is doing is prompting to save to local which is fine for single page image. Not good for multiple page faxes. I have not been able to locate an example to load in the browser or how to handle multiple image in the one column. Code:
Im comparing values in a field while doing a loop if sAct<>myData(5,i) then At the end of the loop I make the value of sAct equal the current myData
This will work when comparing other fields withing my recordset (so I know the statement works) but it will not work for the field I want to compare. The only difference with this field is that it has null values. Could this be the problem? if so, how do I deal with nulls?
I have a table produced with names across the top and services down the left hand side with boxes for numbers for people who recieve services then the info is written into a table in an access db. That works fine and here is that code:
I'm creating a site that pulls details from a database & display it on screen. Problem is that there's sometimes loads of data which makes the page huge. What I want it to do is display ten and a next page link to display the next ten. Like the way Google displays results. Problem is I don't know how to generate pages on the fly. So the question is can it be done and does ne1 know how to do it?
I'm using the input File method for users to upload their files to a folder on a website, I wanted to store the filename in the database but the information that is produced from the input File is an absolute path to the file on the users system (ie. c:/usersfolder/usersfile.doc)
where as I only want the filename (usersfile.doc). I am presuming that this is going to be a Split method but is there a decent place to find a tutorial on this. I've had a good google but can't seem to find anything.
I have problem to print out a table data only the data witch have the field paid yes.. I used pi.Open "select * from invoicees where paid like '"&yes&"', "DSN=anitel"
I need to be able to do an SQL update on this table to subtract 1 from the product_quantity field.I could do this with two SQL queries (SELECT product_quantity, then subtract 1, then UPDATE table) but I'm sure there must be a way just to run one query which subtracts 1 from the field. how to do this?
I'm completely stumped on how to write a loop for this.
I want to generate a dynamic list of links (years) and another of months based on the publish dates i have in my database. So if a month is not present the code would omit it.
I am developing small asp application. There is a database called db.mdb and there are three tables(tblUser, tbsImport, tblcitylist) In tblcitylist there are two fiedls
1.Town 2.LReg
According to the relevent town there is a LReg (Lreg is a name already assign to the town) this part is ok.
In my tblUser there is a field called Town and LReg (Same as above table) But here LReg is empty.I mean there is a default value called "N/A"
I need to create a asp page for following purpose
* i need to read tblcitylist table and according to that I need to fill the LReg fields of TblUser Code:
I have more than one date field on my ASP forms (and in the sister MS Access table) I can not write (created the record in Access table) to the table UNLESS there is date data in ALL the date fields on the ASP form.
I need to be able to have the user enter only one date, then do back at a later time and enter the other date.I am using the short date format in Access table (MM/DD/YYYY) When there is only one date field (on ASP form and in Access table) the date is written and the record is created.
This is probably a simple question, but how does one format a table such that if a field is a certain value, then it will have a specific color.
For example, in the code below, if the specific field named "Year" is '2004' then I want it to appear in red, otherwise it should appear in black. Code:

does ASP have arrays, and if so, can I use an array, inside a loop, to do the following.
x=field name *the field is now comma separated values* while x != rs.EOF take each part of x , put into array. filter recordsetABC with current part of X. display filtered recordset on screen. next x
My syntax is horrible, so ignore that, this is just a theory exercise right now.
I am having terrible time in converting a string to a datetime field in my asp page. I am keep on getting error on the following stateement. What would be the correct syntax on converting string to datetime for inserting into a sql table?? I did write the add_str out on the browser, everything looks correct...
Error message:
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Syntax error converting datetime from character string. Code:
How do i add data from table to cookie? I mean, I have an excel style table at website that is read from database via query, and what I want to do is add information, that is at the same line with the "apply" button, to a cookie for further use?
i used sql code above to display data in a table. basically, the flow is like this. when there is a new reservation, a staff will be assigned to handle that reservation from the beginning until the end. before this, i just display a staffCode that retrieved from Reservation table.
then, i made changes to display staffName and removed staffCode from the table (based on requirement). but, because previously, there are some reservations that have been assigned to staff, i do not have any problem to view all data in the table.
but, when i click other reservations that have not assigned to any staff, an error page came out. the default value for staffCode in the Reservation table is null. because this null value, i've got an error page. is there any steps i can use to solve it?
Right i got the login page working, on my main page i have a big table in the middle with a few small tables either side of it, one of the smaller tables has a form where you can search a database, is it possible to have the results of the search appear in the main table? and is it difficult?
Is it better to use the Recordset methods or make an SQL query string and use conn.Execute() if I want to add to a table? I figure the first might be safer, but it seems weird to someone who learnt on PHP... I'm using SQL Server if that matters.
