Sessions Not Visible Through Out The Site
I seem to been having a problem with sessions. I have a session in the login page.
Session("UserLevel") = (MM_rsUser.Fields.Item("Accesslevel").Value)
which doesn't seem to be visible through out the site. If I use <%
Response.Write(Session("UserLevel")) %> on the login page then it shows that
the session in is present and the correct value. but when I use <%
Response.Write(Session("UserLevel")) %>. on any other page through out the
site it returns nothing
I'm actually wont to use sessions to protect admin pages.
As I am new to sessions, is there anything I am missing?
or can any one point me in the right direction?

I have a form with three <textarea> and one <input> element. When either of
these are changed I want an "Update" button to be visible at the bottom of
the form. I've tried this:
On every element I've added this trigger:
onChange='jsVwBtn()'
Function like this:
function jsVwBtn()
{document.form1.btnupdate.type = "button";}
Default the btnupdate type is set to "hidden".
Some of you might start to laugh now, but as you continue do that please
give some "state of the art" way to do this

Some pages wont display dynamic data from the SQL DB unless the data is in a
certain order, when I move the dynamic element up the page it becomes
visible.Does the layout in the SQL DB determine the layout on the page?

I have a form in which if i check one checkbox it makes 2 textboxes invisible. Thats working fine.( I am using java script to perform this)Now when user fill the form and hit submit and if some required field is missing than it forces the user to go back to form and complete it.
While going back it retains all the values for all the fields.It also retails the checkboxs but even though the checkbox is checked now but textboxes which should be hidden are visible.

i have searched through a ton of past posts in an effort to find the
answer to my problem but so far have come up with nothing.
The problem I am experiencing is with VS6, visual interdev on windows
2000, with IIS.
When ever i attempt to debug my asp web app the debugger will step into
the code and will start an Iexplore.exe process, but not actually make
internet explorer visible.
Does anyone know any way round this I have spent loads of time trying
to sort it already.

I have several folders on a test web server that are not
visible in the directory structures of several programs,
including Visual Interdev and Stac ReachOut. All these
folders have one thing in common: they are shared. I
tried turning sharing off to fix the problem - no good.
The only way to make these folders visible to my project
is to manually add them. But every time I refresh my
project view, the folders go back to not being visible
and I have to add them again. Any ideas?

I have a survey/member form that gathers information. I would like to have a drop down list on a page that a user selects, either 1, 2 or 3.If 2 or 3 I would like to show on the form another field for information gathering ie:if a user has 1 cat, fields for cat name, sex & age show.

We are planning to set-up a load balanced web environment. Accordingly, we are going to change the session management on our website from the classic ASP Session State and session variables, to a database method.
Does any one have any pointers as to how I might approach this, so that I can have the same sort of functionality the ASP sessions give without having to create database columns for each session variable I wish to create. I am thinking along the lines of some serialised dictionary or something that I can stick in a blob column.

I am to build a site onto an ASP server. Anyone here used Dreamweaver and is it just a simple matter of opening up a new ASP page in Dreamweaver and build the site like you would normally do with a HTML page and it will handle the ASP coding accordingly and you can just simply upload it onto an ASP server and it will work?
The site I am to build is basically just a standard html website, but my friend wants me to build it for an ASP server so he has asked me to make sure it is an asp site so I am presuming with the extension .asp
If I build it as a html site to begin with, will converting it to asp be hard. Could I just export my pages into asp or is there more to it?
Can a Html website be loaded and working on an asp server or host?
Is it possible to have a site mixed both html and asp, eg. the home page is html and when you click on shopping cart on the home page it goes to a hopping cart page thats .asp or do they all have to have the same extension.

Whenever I do a site that is mostly static but with some semi-dynamic

I have session time by default as 20 mints in iis.
I want to that to be increased by 60 mints in my application so that when user save changes after 21st mint the session should not be lost.

I was wanting to know if you could have a function within a session?Example:

Is that possible? Ok, maybe not "is it possible" but can you use the session message to dictate where the function outputs its data? Here's why I'm asking. I have an online testing app that when a person selects the wrong answer the correct answer (along with a bunch of other stuff) will be displayed on the page.
I'm getting it to display the correct answer and the other information, but the correct answer is at the top of the page screwing up my layout and the other information is doing what it should.

I am using an HTTPS connection and posting to an asp page that does a
redirect based on if the user is authenticated.
However, for some reason after the session is set and the user redirect
the session dies and the user logged out?
Any ideas?
The redirect looks like Response.Redirect "../welcome.asp".

I am using ServerXmlHttp in a client-side component to basically talk back to the Server within a webpage. I would like to be able to cache some information on the server so that when I callback, I do not have to reconstitue everything that I did for the intial request. However, the Sessions are different.

I'm trying to use a couple of Session variables within SSL.
My form submits to the same page and this is at the top of the page.

The form fields are populated but the Sessions are empty on my next page.
Am I missing something? Is there a problem with Sessions and SSL?

I've just created a simple form that writes information to an
Access database using ASP. Everything works fine. My question is, would
there be any reason to use the session object other than for tracking
purposes.
Specifically, does a session have any inportance on multiple
users accessing pages and submitting the form inforamtion to the database.
I was curious about errors to the database with multiple users submitting at
the same time to the database. This is a small scale application and not
expected to have large number of hits. As stated I'm new to using ASP and
just wanted to get some input.

I have used SESSIONS on mission critical pages on my site, and if sessions are not enabled / supoorted - these pages will fail. When and why would a session fail? They do not store any info client side,and rely on the server to store session objects in memory, am I correct? Would security settings or privacy controls ever stop sessions working? Which "popular" browsers dont support sessions?

I don't know how to do anything with session and I don't need anything complicated at all. All i need it to do is like create a session when they login sucessfully.
