I want to strip email from the text. Some of my users may send me a string:

How do I parse the string to get email address only? mI know I may use instr() to determine if email address exists, but please, give me a hint on how to handle it next.

Alright, now I'm trying to combine time and date in one variable as such:
Combined = time & " " & date
But instead of getting 12:42:13 PM 6/12/2006, I just want to get 12:42 6/12. How do I strip off the last characters to just get the parts I want? Also, I'd really like to see the time in 24 hour(military) format, but I'm not sure how to accomplish that either.

I know how to use the FSO to create text files and write data to them etc. I just don't know how to write a variable to a text file, and retrieve it at a later date??

I'm trying to catch some characters in a string before they are entered into a database that are not ASCII and convert them to ASCII characters. The characters in question are the angular double quotes but this could be associated with similar occurences. I want to check for left angular double quotes [“] or right angular double quotes [“] and replace them with straight double quotes ["].
(I'm not actually storing the HTML equivalents - they are simply there to give you an idea of which characters I'm on about.)a way of catching these buggers? I've tried using chr(8220) (the numeric code for one of the illegal characters apparently) but ASP has a problem working with numbers outside the character map.

that for example the field size is 200, when it reaches 50 it automatically
goes to the next line. Bcoz im having problem when viewing it in my report,
it continuesly views in a strieght line and im having problem in printing.
When using ASP's FileSystemObject to create text files, I am unable to get user submitted text (in Hebrew) to save as anything other than "?????". The text file is being saved in Unicode and setting the CodePage in ASP proved unsuccessful. Strangely, hard coded Hebrew text in an ASP variable does add to the text file correctly.
Any ideas of why this happens and how to get it to work correctly?

if I create a variable like so:

and then assign like this:

how do I make copyOfArray reference the set1_array, as opposed to just a string "set1_array" which is what it's doing?

I have a form on asp page that pulls info from a DB when the page loads.
It them puts the info into text boxes on the page that are editable by the

The only problem I have is say in the description text box it should
read "HP Laserjet 5Si" , it always cuts the text off where it just says "HP"
.. It does this on all the text boxes? I can't seem to figure out why it

how can I parse this with a reg ex? I tried this:

but it only captures 1 submatch (text1) and only if theres an "or"
after it
I'd like to get 1 submatch for each piece of text separated by the
"or", just the text itself if there is no or.
Anyone know how to do it?

View Replies View RelatedI am trying to build a web based database using Access and ASP. I can retreive data form the database in a web page. I can send data from one page to another. However, I am stuck trying to figure out how to make the data variable. I would like the second page to display only data the user selected from a drop down list in the previous web page. I tried using the WHERE function and replace the hard coded information with a variable, but it isn't accepting the code. Could someone please help with this? I have research mulitple sites and can't find this particular piece of code or in tutorials. I must be missing something because seems like it would be basic stuff.
