The Include File '../main.asp' Cannot Contain '..' To Indicate The Parent Directory.
The Include file '../main.asp' cannot contain '..' to indicate the parent
directory.
I think it is refering to the fact that I have a file called
communication.asp, and in that file there is a line:
<!-- #include file=../main.asp -->
This LINE should not contain '..' to indicate the parent directory
On the other hand, reading the message as it is written, we see that it
says: Code:

I have a software that has generated a code for me, not sure if I'm allowed to give out names of other companies on here so i won't for now. anyways, the code has worked for a long time on my server just fine. Until I got a new server, same operating system and everything, i just cut and paste everything over from the old server to the new one. But for some reason now one of my sites will not let me use ".." in my code.
<!--include file=../2020applicationsconnections.asp-->
I would just place the "2020applicationsconnections.asp" file in the folder my current file is in, but then that messes up all the the linking that the "2020applicationsconnections.asp" file had in it. So is there any phrase, symbol, ect. that i should use to indicate a parent directory in this code? or is there some setting i need to change on my server that was set up on my old one.

I have some asp files that are included in each of the (asp) pages of a new website I have built.I have many pages in the website, in many directories (3 levels).
The administrator does not alow to use parent path, and this is problematic to me now.
Any change of location of the included files, will not prevent from using parent path to access them.What can I do?I can not use one directory for all paes.

I have just taken over management of a web site, many pages of which contain
the line:
<!--#include virtual="/admin/Includes/conn_Login.asp" -->
When I try to load this page (login.asp) I get the error:
Page cannot be displayed
Active Server Pages, ASP 0126 (0x80004005)
The include file '/admin/Includes/conn_Login.asp' was not found.
/CECO/admin/Home/login.asp, line 10
I realise that I have to create a virtual directory but am not sure how to
do this.
Full path to file is:
C:InetpubwwwrootCECOadminHomelogin.asp

i have a form that pops up based on a click. the popup opens up correctly.
now what i want it to do is this.
1. submit the data to an asp page. that part i got working
2. close the popup box. have that working as well.
3. after processing the data on the asp page, direct to and refresh the
parent page that the popup was created from.
to be more specific....
i have a bracket page, where you click on the winners name to move them
over. works fine. that sends variables to a pop up box, where you enter a
score. that works fine. now when i submit, it only sneds the data to the asp
page, and even though the bottom of the asp page redirects it to the parent
page, it doesn't. it seems like it is trying to redirect to the popup that
doesn't exist anymore, so it does nothing.

I want to be to call my menu from another file onto my page so that i dont have to add it to every page of my website. The problem is when i try to add it using the include method it says that only one include file is allowed on an ASP. The other include file is my connection string so i cant really take that out of the page because then nothing else will work!
How can i get the menu page included as well as the connecting string?
Have added the code below, i have highlighted the 2 include files that i want to use in blue, i have also left the div tag in for where i currently have the menu which is what i want to take out and have ther include file there instead, if that makes sense. Basically the bit in red i want to be able to remove from all of my pages and add the blue file above the red code in instead, but i dont know how!!!!! Code:

I have an asp page written entirely in jscript with a vbscript used as an include file which one variable on the page must access.
When the page runs, I run into jscript complilation errors when it tries to access the include file (since it is written in vbscript), and I can't figure out how to get the two to work together. How do you get both scripting languages to work on the same page?

I'm coding a page where you can download a lot of different files( 100-1000) but I don't want to code each file(linking and all) it would take weeks to do that. I tried with a database and asp code rding the databse but it not saving a lot of time since I got to complete the databse.
I wanna know if we can code with asp something to automaticly read each file and list them in html so I dont have to code 1000 x the samee thing.

I am working on a book selling website using ASP with an Access DB.
Basically i would like to have an image of each book in the DB to be displayed upon request in the website. So I guess what i would really like to know is
1. Can i store .jpg or .gif files in an Access DB?
2. Does it make sense to do this?
3. Would it be better to have some kind of pointer in the DB to a place in the file system where the image is stored? .......

does any one here know of a good way to to determine whether or not a
given path is a directory (e.g., "c:mydir") or a file (e.g., "c:mydir

i started attacking this problem by using filesystemobject to check
whether or not a directory existed for the path. if so, it was a
directory path. if not, i checked to see if a file existed for it. if
so, it was a file path. Code:

Currently I am developping a internet "directory browser"
My page 'default.asp' has following entries:
CurrentPATH = Request("MyLink")
Set oFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
Set oFolder = oFSO.GetFolder(CurrentPATH)
Set oFolderContents = oFolder.Files
this works fine with 'default.asp?MyPath', where "MyPath" stands for i.e.
c: emp
but NOT with 'default.asp?MyFile', where MyFile stands for i.e.
c: empfile.txt
Is there a way to determine if the link contains a file or a path? Of course
you can check for a dot (after dot, normaly it is an extension, thus a
file), but I want to have it possible also to have dots in my directories...
Anybody?

I used to have a little ASP file (classical ASP) that would show me the total file size used per directory. I didn't need it for many years and now that I do I seem to have lost it.
Does anyone have an classical ASP file/script that will loop through your filesystem and shows the total Mb's used per directory? I could write it myself I'm sure, but if someone has a script like this ready it would save me quite some time.

is there a way in asp that you can prepend a file to the beginning of page you access in a directory? i'm not talking about the include statement because you have to put it in on everypage manually. i know you can do this in cold fusion, but i don't know how to do it in asp or if its even possible.

At my site I have designed a framework with tabs as below:
(tabs_1.asp)
+----+ +------+ +-------+
| MC | | Cars | | Boats |
+ +-------------------------
then, into tabs_1.asp I include another page
(tabs_1_2.asp)
--------+ +--------------
| New | | Used | | Crasched |
+-----+ +------+ +----------+
Works fine so far... Here comes the problem...
The file tabs_1_2.asp has an included page (data.asp) witch doesnt appear...
When I look at the sourcecode from the webbrowser it seems to have been included but nothing is visible.
Is it inpossible to make several includes in the way I described?

How can I include a .cgi file in an .ASP file?
I've tried #include, Server.Transfer, and Server.Execute (yes, I know the last two are
only for ASP, but I tried it anyway).
If I have to, I guess I'll use ASPHTTP to do an http call to the file but first I wanted
to see if there was a more elegant way to do it
Is there an efficient way to include the output of a .cgi file in an ASP file?

I do almost exclusively ASP on IIS, so I'm stupid when it comes to dealing with flat HTML on Linux/Apache.I have a static site on a Linux box where I want to do an include on an ASP file on an IIS box, and can't make it work.
I've tried <!--#include virtual="http://where.com/abc.asp"-->
and <!--#include virtual="http://where.com/abc.txt"-->
The ".txt" extension try was in case it's true what I heard that IIS won't let a remote server execute an ASP in an include file.
Also tried <!--#include file=...", even though I know from experience that Apache requires "virtual," not "file."
And also tried <!--#exec cgi=...".
NOT drawing any errors: the generated output just repeats the "<!--#include..." line instead of outputting results from the ASP file.
