The Server.CreateObject Method For Creating Text Files
I have made a asp page that will read a db table and select certain fields concerning the current day's activities to be written to a text file. After the information about the current day's activities has been compiled, it is stored in a variable and written to a text file.
What I would like to do is create a text file for each day instead of over-writing the same one. Is there another Server.CreateObject method that will allow the 'creation' of a text file rather than just over-writing a text file that already exists? I would use "month(date)", "day(date)","year(date)" to append to a text file name to keep it unique.
Below is what I currently use to create a text file. But any new information will only overwrite what is already contained in the text file. Code:
i know how to create text files using ASP, but is there any way to create fixed width text file using ASP? i need to have the data lined up in the same location at each row.
I am trying to create a file on another server, but I get either "Permission Denied" or "Path not found" errors. If it helps, the folder I am attempting to put it in is a shared folder. here is the path that I am trying to put the file in...Code:
set f=fs.CreateTextFile("192.168.50.15E:Common est.txt",true)
I need to implement the following functionality in asp. I have got an asp page which renders some html onto the browser. Now instead of rendering the html to the browser i should save that as an html file in server itself.
I'm trying to install a simple e-mail form to my webpage; which takes some info from user (like name, phone, e-mail,etc...) and when user pushes submit button e-mails them to me immediately. I've tried to do so with ASP Formmail but I couldn't succeed. . it gives me: Server object error " 'ASP 0177 : 800401f3' Server.CreateObject Failed " error. Can anyone please help me to install my form? Because I need to install it immediately;
I've recently uploaded a site to a new ISP, which is on a Win2003 platform. I've had a problem in that the existing ASP scripts handling email form submissions all experience the following error:
Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a0046' Permission denied
From what I can gather this is due to moving from Win2000 to Win2003, and specifically the problem lies in this line of code: ....
How do you capture an error when executing "Server.CreateObject" from and asp page. The object does not get created and no error message is reported. I know the application recognizes the existence of the registered dll but it does not creat it
I'm studying "Visual Basic Developer's Guid to ASP & IIS", and I am following instructions an pp 72-75.I am creating a WebClass, and enter code as instructed, and it all is entered correctly.
When I try and run, I get the folowing error:
"The call to Server.CreateObject failed while checking permissions. Access is denied to this object."
I've not compiled this, but am following instructions to just run the project. Is this not possible without compiling it?
MSXML3.0 is installed on the server. When calling the function below I get an error:
Server.CreateObject("MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP.3.0")
However when using Server.CreateObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP") the object gets created just fine.Is there a difference between the 2 functions? Is the second one using MSXML3.0 or an older version? What could be causing the first call to fail?
my problem is my Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Errors") fails with Invalid ProgID. For additional information specific to this message please visit
the Microsoft Online Support site located at: http://www.microsoft.com/contentredirect.asp.
My other Server.CreateObject's work for other ADODB objects but not for this one. Any ideas why and how to fix? i m using Windows 2000 Server SP3.
I just setup a new machine with Vista Business Edition and IIS 7. I had to turn on IIS 7 attributes including the IIS Manager. Not sure what options I needed I turn them all on that even remotely look like I might need them.
The IIS Manager looks total foreign to me but eventually I figure how to add a virtual folder. I then started making script files in html, javascript and vbscript. I would run them through IIS 7 using the URL: http://localhost/../filename. This all worked fine and I was able to try most of the code that I had used on IIS 6 under XP.
I then start adding ASP server-side calls to the script. I tried several objects: Request, Response..etc. and they worked fine. The problem started when I started using the Server object. In particular when I added the line:
Any idea why this is happening? The directory exists on the FS. It's an upload script to put files in a database directory. It errors out on the upload.
Server object error 'ASP 0177 : 800401f3'
Server.CreateObject Failed
/ProspectTracking/alphatest/default/Upload/upload.asp, line 3
When you create an object in classic asp code, should you always use Server.CreateObject("ProgID")? Are there implications with stability (ie memory leaks) if you create COM objects in other ways in IIS?
We use Javascript for our ASP coding, using a mixture of Server.CreateObject() and new ActiveXObject(). The web server hangs occasionally (once every 2-3 months) and we were wondering if this might be the culprit...
I am getting the following error from my ASP application: Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a0007'
Out of memory: 'Server.CreateObject'
It always (as far as i have observed) occurs when i try to create a new ADODB.connection object in my cCon helper function (opening a connection and returning it):
Function cCon() Dim cnRet set cnRet = server.createobject("ADODB.Connection") 'This is where the error is thrown cnRet.connectionstring = GLB_CONSTR_DB cnRet.open Set cCon = cnRet End Function
The page that errors will typically call this function 6- 10times from different functions which handle their connections in this way: Code:
I am trying to create a comments form with html and have it sent to my email address from the website via ASP. I keep getting an error message that says:
Server object error 'ASP 0177 : 800401f3' Server.CreateObject Failed /myapp/email.asp, line 3 Invalid class string
I've examined my line 3, and I cannot see the problem. Could anyone tell me whats wrong with the codes, or must I have a separate database to house the contents of my forms as well?
Server object error 'ASP 0178 : 80070005' Server.CreateObject Access Error /SendZipFiles.asp, line 40 The call to Server.CreateObject failed while checking permissions. Access is denied to this object.
on my win2003 iis6 asp page when component is registered in COM+ service.
How do I solve this? How do I allow "out of process" in IIS6?
I am working on a e-commerce site for a while and few days ago I was going throuh the actual plan and checking what's can and cant be done.the way I am getting data in and out of the databse is having a mojor issue with the speed here. Can I create a static page of feature products as they are updated once every month.. basically I want to be able have the products in the dadabase and but its no point calling up to the database to get these information everytime someone visits the page.I want to create a static page so that it only changes when an administrator request it to change.like a monthly update.
When using ASP's FileSystemObject to create text files, I am unable to get user submitted text (in Hebrew) to save as anything other than "?????". The text file is being saved in Unicode and setting the CodePage in ASP proved unsuccessful. Strangely, hard coded Hebrew text in an ASP variable does add to the text file correctly.
Any ideas of why this happens and how to get it to work correctly?
Got a quick query in relation to the Server.Transfer method available in IIS 5+/ASP. I've got an issue where I want to take a portion of an online app and extract this out into a web site on its own, so I will end up having two web sites. This planned to aid problems we've been having with performance, as if the portion (which is an app in its own right) has problems we then have to restart the whole site and so bring everything down just because of the portion of the app which we're having issues with. Taking the portion of the site will allow us to run it in isolated mode in ISS and so just restrat that if needed, while not affecting the rest of IIS.
Anyways, I'm in the process of writing a jump page to facilitate the process of moving from the first site to the new second site, but as we need to reuse session info created in site 1 I need a way of passing this over to the second site.
I've been aware of the Server.Transfer but never really used it so I'm not too sure how I can actually use this. I was planning to write an ASP page that takes the required info out of session is site 1, calling Server.Transfere to send it over to the second site. I don't want to do a Response.Redirect, not wanting the client to do this and not allowing it to know what info I'm using in the session.
And so, I thought the Server.Transfer would facilitate this, but after reading some of the documentation on MSDN I'm not sure I can, ie: redirect to another ASP page in this way and tack on a QueryString holding all the session info I need, as MSDN says that I'll get an 'ASP 0173 error, "Invalid Path Character"' error if I have a question-mark '?' in the path, or any other of a list of invalid chars. But then I need this '?' char to build my QString ie: XXX.asp?sas=123&jdy=0689...
So what I'm after is some clarification that I can use Server.Transfere in this way or not, ie to redirect to an ASP page and tack on a QueryString, of if it just allows for an ASP page without s QString. So then if I want to do this I might need to use the Response.Redirect method, or some other way!!
MSDN also says: "When you use the Transfer method, the state information for all the built-in objects are included in the transfer. This means that any variables or objects that have been assigned a value in session or application scope are maintained"
....So will I have the session info from site 1 available in site 2 after the redirect or does this only apply for a Server.Transfer within the same web (which I think is what it means!).
I don't have an environment up that I can test this on yet so I'm kinda feeling may wat in the dark here, hence my lengthly post.
