I am creatiung a track record website which displays a list of branches and how many people are available at each individual time slot.
I thought the best way to update would be to create a link which passed two variables, the branch and what time slot. This would then be retrieved int he book.asp page which then would knock one of the current count. I came up with the below page: Code:

i got a quick one for you guys. i've this session variable that is updated by calling a server method (i set this value when the user hits a submit button in my form. The server method is called when i load all my asp forms.). I know you can enter asp variable values into javascript functions
javascript_function(<%=asp_variable%>);
But can it go the other way? Can I take results from a javascript function and use them to update an asp variable? I would like to do the updating inside the function because it will be an onclick function.
I had made a form name 'dform.html' which asks idno, name and phone from the user and after the user clicks on button "save data" sdata.asp is executed. sdata.asp is written to save the values entered for idno,name and phone in dform.html into table "myfriends" in the mydata.mdb (access database). but when i am clicking on save data button i am getting error saying

how to declare session variables and use it in insert and update sql statements... the scenario is I have:

I am able to trap data from the first form into the acces table..but my second form(which is continuation of first form) has a update query....(ie...it shld update the same record the one inserted from the 1st form )..both the forms work on table in access db
its an annonymus...questionnaite...therefore i am not trapping any user name or login id...but the requirement is the survey made shld be unique....as in no user shld be able to answer the questions twice.
I was looking for thoughts on having a piece of a web page updated when a button or drop down is selected. The update would have to be via the results of a database lookup/query. Any ideas on this? I am thinking of having to do it through javascript/asp mixture but unsure.
As an example, say you have a drop down of, say, 100 names to choose. When the person chooses a name, a query is fired and the person's address is populated in a box. I'd rather not have this happen via a full-page update if possible.
I entered the data in the database table but, when I print this data on html page thro' asp script. I don't see my new lines. I tried by storing <br>(html new line tag) in the database. Then I am getting only 1st word of each line.

I have a table called WGDeliveryNotes which has a field in called TrackFlag1.I would like to update the TrackFlag1 field to contain a value of 1 when the page is loaded..... I have found out that when using dreamweaver MX 2004 to update databases, and specialy for amatures such as myself, it is easier to update one field at the time. Other wise you will get an error message on the line stringname.execute (usually line 111).
The problem is solved by updating only one field at the time. It might time a little longer but saves headaches when you don't know exactly how to work with the code.
I need help with fixing my code below. It doesn;t work correctly. It works fine when there are 4 featured records. But I want to be able to change one to not be featured (equal to 0). This is not possible with my current code. It shows the same message about me not being able to have more than 4 featured records. Can someone please help me with this?

These questions can come in many forms ie radio buttons, select box etc this is controlled by the entry in the database. My problem is how to update the database with the results entered.
