Is it possible using ASP to update the page display by selecting a record from a <select> box, then, search the db for the record selected and update the same page with the content of that record? Code:
strSQL = "UPDATE corp_bill SET isk = " & strNewISK & ", bd = " & DateAdd("h",+24, rsBill("bd")) & " WHERE pilot = " & rsBill("pilot") & "'" Conn.Execute strSQL
It works fine when using "bd = Now()" instead of the DateAdd thingy.

I display work request records from a db table into a .html table dynamically by cycling through the db table until RS.EOF.
To the right of each record displayed I have two checkboxes, "chk_dev_accept", "chk_dev_sendnotif". These are the only editable items on the page.
"chk_dev_accept" is clicked by the developer to assign the work request to his/herself. "chk_dev_sendnotif" is clicked if the developer wants to notify the customer that the status of the job has changed (optional and automatic - I don't have a problem with this part).
Upon clicking the "Update Record" button, I want the records with the checkboxes clicked to update.
The db record fields that would be updated are: "dev_developer" (The developer that will do the job, read from a cookie) and "dev_proj_status" (changed to 'Assigned'). These two fields should update when the "chk_dev_accept" is clicked and form submitted. I want the developer to check as many records as he/she wishes.
My problem is I'm not sure how to code that <input checkbox....> tag, and then, how to take that checked value to select the appropriate records to update.
I would like to select from drop down menu and depending on the selection display 1-3 radio buttons next to the selection box. I have tried some different code and nothing is working. What is the best way to do this?
ASP error number 13 - Type mismatch with SELECT...FOR UPDATE statement. I got ASP error number 13 when I use the SELECT...FOR UPDATE statement as below. However, if I use SELECT statement without FOR UPDATE, it is fine and no error. I also tried Set objRs = objConn.Execute("SELECT * FROM EMP UPDATE OF EMPNO"), but it still couldn't help.
I'm looking for a few methods for displaying contents of a recordSet, displaying the recordset in a table format, allowing the user to update the information they want to modify, then saving that info back to the database. I know of a couple of ways of doing this:
Create an html table dynamically from the recordset, assign the values html ids, write the info back to the recordset on form post and update the db. OK, that's the only way I know.
What I want to be able to do is create a user control that will display an entire page page within it. Does anyone know how to do this or better yet have any same code?
I like to know how to write this specifc function on ASP where the user eg: display a set of records on the webpage. Example the data are ID, Name and address.
Lets say i display the data on the webpage and i set the Name as the <a href>. So when i click on the name, it will move to another page with the id of the specific name. Code:
I've been searching the forums for a bit of code (maybe Javascript) that will help me populate a select list using a variable pulled from another select list without refreshing the entire page.
I need to pull the values in the second select list from a database based on search criteria from the first select list. I don't know how to get past the stateless nature of HTML. I'm developing this app using javascript and php for extremely low-bandwidth users and I'm stumped on this one.
I m trying to use multiple option menu using redirect function in ASP.
I managed to do a single option but I need to use multiple options can you please advise on how to do this, so both options apear in the same page. for instance, in the code below a user should be able to select uk and also selects between the other options; population, geography from the same page. Code:
After updating a record, I want to go back to the results page from a search. Anyone know how to redirect after you update a record to go back a page to see the results again. A simple click of the back button would do the trick, but that can't be done after you click the update.
I have an ASP page which uses QueryString data to determine what the user is wanting to do. It has Upload (which provides a form to enter a category, title, overview, and file), Edit (which gives user a form with the before mentioned sections, minus the file, to change the overview, title, or category), Update (which processes the Edit form), and Delete, which allows the user to delete a file.
A user can upload a file just fine, and a file can be deleted just fine. The problem is with Edit/Update. The Edit form loads fine, with all the correct information in the input boxes, and a hidden field storing the "ID" for the record. This form submits to .asp?Action=Update, where the Select statement is based on the hidden ID. When the user clicks the update button on the Edit page, the next page never loads, the confirmation never comes up.
On our Production (Live) server this caused ALL of our sites to go down, we had to restart the server to bring them back up. Now I've been testing in our Development server trying to solve, it causes this site to go down, but all other sites on the development server continue to function (so we have a different result on this server, but still the problem). Reboot is not required here though, if I wait a few minutes, I can access the page again (maybe a timeout is happening here that isnt on the other server?) Code:
I want to build a page having a list of products with their individual price, order qty, and total price.
What I would really like is that when a user enters the order qty and tabs out, that the total price is updated instantly. How would I go about doing this?
When the user has finished all his order, then he would press the submit button and not before.
How would I go about updating a page without a form submit?when a user types the number 1 in textbox1 and the number 2 in textbox2, textbox3 automatically displays 3.
in this i get sr.no by <%=RS("cnt")%> which keeps increasing by 1. when i change some quantity how to capture in next page as i wont be knowing how many itesm are displayed in this page and which item user wants to update.
I developed an ASP page which has 2 input fields- First Name and Last Name.I used Access 2002 as database. Once I click the Submit button,
it has to perform 3 tasks----- 1) It has to update the First Name and Last Name in the MS-Access database in their corresponding fields. 2) It has to go to the Home Page(which I already did) 3) It has to update the date/time in the "Time" field in the MS-Access database.
The following is the code I wrote to connect to the database and update the fields in the Access table---
<% set MyConn = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection") set rs = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.RecordSet") MyConn.Open "driver={Microsoft Access Driver
(*.mdb)};;DBQ=c:/documents and
settings/adcguest/desktop/webpage_html ewsecurity.mdb;" rs.Open sqlqry,MyConn,2,2 rs.AddNew rs("firstname") = first name rs("lastname") = last name rs.update
rs.close myconn.close %>
Can somebody please help me in figuringout if I am missing something.
I had successfully created a update page for a registration. But now I went into a problem.
1: In REGISTRATION page (Where they submit their data for the first time), they are able to use Drop down button to choose their answers. In my UPDATE page (Where they can edit their data), I can only create textbox for them to change their data which they originally used Drop down button.
For example: In REGISTRATION page, they can choose Yes/No from Drop Down button. In UPDATE page, they need to type in Yes/No instead from Drop Down button.
How can I create drop down button in the update page with their previous answer selected?
i am updating client's table(i.e insert one new client) from one asp page and after that it is being redirected to html page on that page i have one link which selects records from client's table and then displays it in the form of list. The problem is that when a new client is added it is not shown in the list. If anyone can please guide me on how to refresh the asp page after every database updates.
I got a test asp page which connects to Northwind.mdb database. This page pulls all the rows from the Customers table. One column i.e. GoodStatus has been added to the customers table. The following is the code to display all records of the customers table with some customization. Code:
There's an access database on an iisserver and asp makes updates to it. The database got moved to a newer server. The users used to be able to open the database and use the asp pages at the same time. Now when the database is open the asp pages won't update.
I have an asp page in which I use the time() function but that just gives the time at the moment the page is loaded. I need to reload/refresh the page once every second so the seconds increase by one continuously.
I have a seperate asp page for each due of the week (mon.asp tue.asp wed.asp etc...). I need each day's page to show on the site at 3am that morning, for example... I want tue.asp to show up at 3am on tuesday morning
I'm running IIS 5.1 in Windows XP Pro. I moved all my ASP files and scripts from my backup CD to my new server. Some of the pages can't be displayed, the browser would redirect me to Http://www.perfectnav.com/....uid.... web search engine page. How can I stop this? I mean I couldn't fix the problem if I don't see actual error of the page. I open my IIS logfile and found Error 500 next to the request. But the HTTP 500 error page never get displayed. I turned off the "Display Friendly Error Message" in Internet Option and set all the 500 error page to default.
I have created an .asp page in Microsoft Visual Studio 2003, and the page consists only of html and vbscript. When I click "view in browser" the page displays and works as I want it to.But When I view it in IE7 the stucture of the page is all messed up. I suspect that IE7 has problems in enterpreting the vbscipt because the html parts looks ok. probably IIS right? I have run regiis -i (dont remember the correct syntax) so that shouldnt be the problem.
I have IIS installed on Win XP. When I type http://localhost/*.html (*.html mean any htm file) in IE, it works well. The page is displayed. But for any http://localhost/*.asp file, it always return either HTTP 500 Internal server error or Cannot find DNS server. I tried http://localhost/iishelp, it does not work also.
I'm need to open a popup window from an asp page that calculates a value. This value must be returned to the input box on the asp page. I have managed to get the popup window to open and display a value so far but I am not getting the value back into the asp page.
Microsoft has a service called SUS that allows operating system files to be updated from a dedicated server instead of from Windows Update(Microsoft). SUS is a web app based on .asp. I went ahead and installed SUS on a Windows 2000 server that already had IIS 5.0 on it.
After the installation of SUS I tried to browse to the home page,ie: http://localhost/SusAdmin, and got the error "page not found".
I was able to browse normal html files in the same SUS virtual directory in IIS and see them with no problem. Something is wrong with .asp on IIS or with the setup of SUS.
