I have one ASP page that has two separate FORMS, each that will update a separate SQL table. These tables are in the same DB with the same connection string for both.
The SQL statement seems to be writing correctly (when I test them) but neither of the tables updates when I try to update both of them. IF I try to update just ONE of the tables it does work correctly. Code:
anyone know of ways to show the dif btw two tables? if using left join . The LEFT JOIN returns all the rows from the first table even if there are no matches in the second table If there are rows in first table that do not have matches in second table , those rows also will be listed . this is not i want. i WANT to show ONLY the dif btw the two table. or can the sql statement be modified to suit my request ?
I was trying to integrate a forum software to an existing site. The site is having a different database file already. What i want to do is, copy the forum tables from forum database file to the existing site database. How can I copy the tables from FileA to FileB using ASP?
i have a page that i need to load in an iframe that is on a diff domain (sub domain), i need to get the doc height of the page so that i can adjust the iframes height (so there will be no scroll bars).the problem with that is even though its on the same sever, because it is on a subdomain the browser sees it as different and restricts access to it (makes sense).
so, what we can do is have php read in the page with curl and parse it out in the iframe. that looks like <iframe src="reader.php?page=subdomain.pagename.html">but, we cannot use php on this server so i was wondering if there is an asp solution that can do the same thing (vb script). basically, i just need that asp page to grab the page on the sub domain, read it in and then output it.
I have an query that gets value from two tables lets say tb1 and tb2. First i m tryin to insert values into tb1 and based on those values i have to update some already existing values in tb2. it gives me following error:
Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005' Cannot update. Database or object is read-only
i know my cursur types are correct as i can update without any error with a single table. This leads me to wonder if updating multiple tables in access is possible?
I have a MS Access database composed of a few related tables. I'm trying to link this with a website so that new data may be entered remotely via the website. I am using MS Frontpage, which has a simple wizard for this, but the wizard does not allow for updating multiple tables from the one web form. I have started learning ASP and VB, but all the books don't really discuss adding records to several related tables at one go. How do I do this?
Conceptually, I understand that you can't have a new record in the child table without a corresponding record in the parent record. It there a way of submitting several forms to the same record by 'indicating' which parent record each field is linked to? Is there a simple scripting code ? Any help or suggestion will be greatly appreciated, or just point me to where I might find the information I need?
I am trying to create a page where a registed user can save a search to their member page. So if they see a cottage they like they can save it to their member page.
This is what i have so far This is what passes username and prop_no over to my userupdate page:
ive got an online room bookings system working. However this uses email so someone has to update once they recieve the booking request. Whats the best way to do it so that a user can see when a room is free and book it automatically so the web page when refreshed shows this - ie it cuts out the middle man?
I have very limited asp knowledge so I just use the built in dreamweaver functions at work. I've done an update recordset before but this one as me baffled.
When trying to modify the article and update the database the upodate doesn't work, the page if succesful should redirect to the news admin. I've searched for about the last hour but no joy. The code is as follows: Code:
How do we update a single entry on a forum page without refreshing the whole page as we do on this forum with quick reply; When we type some data and press quick reply, only the text written is added to the page and none of the existing page contents are updated. I hope my question is clear.
I am trying to list data from the DB from three different tables. The first table is creditors, the second is statements and the third is payments. I don't know much about inner joins and I'm not even sure that's what I need to do. The first section on the page is detailed information about the creditor.
Below that is a section for a summary of all statements from that creditor. Below the statements section is a section for listing payments from that creditor. The 'creditors' table has a field of "credID" as well as the tables "statements" and "payments".
The "statements" table has a "StatementID" field and the "payments" table has a field of payID. What is the best way to list the statements and payments from a particular creditor?
I have a page that allow user to update their contents of their address book.
When users click on a button on the page, a new window will pop-out with all the address book contacts. User will select one of the option and i will retrieve the values on put them into the main page without re-loading the page.
To achieve the above effect, is it better to combine a) ASP with Java Script or b) ASP with VBScript
Does anybody have any experience uploading large files (60 - 200mb)?
I am having a lot of difficulty with this right now. I am using clsupload and it keeps timing out. It always just stops and says the connection has been reset.
I tried changing the aspmaxupload in the metabase.xml and using the script timeout function but nothing seems to work.
I've been building an ASP app that sits on top of a relational database (MS Access). The problem is that the data from some web forms need to be stored in different tables. Currently I am using multiple SQL Insert statements.
The problem with this approach is that it is possible that several inserts would succeed and then one would fail. This would ruin my database. Is there some way to synchronize the Insert commands or to "flush" the commands at the same time? I need the Insert statements to either all succeed or all fail.
i'm wondering if it's possible to modify the design of an sql database from within a script. I don't have MS SQL installed on my machine but i need to add a few fields to some of the tables.
I know it's possible to create and drop tables so that is one option. ie: drop the existing one and create it again with the extra fields. the problem with that way is I'll lose all the data. so long story short. how do i modify the design of a table from within a vbscript?
I'm trying to display records from an MS Access DB (*.mdb) in an ASP page (table).. I don't want to display all the records though, I just want to display the total of these records..i.e in my table I would like to show how many calls someone has closed this year..(number)
Joe Bloggs ---> 100 Closed
Is this possible? I was thinking that I need to write an ADO that includes COUNT but I'm not too sure how to write this.. Here's what I have so far: Code:
If I want to compare time, what is the best approach to go ? Any good example ? DateDiff ( ) ?
Pseudocode ========
submitdate = rs.fields("submissiondate") -submissiondate is a date field in a table.
if time for submitdate < = 8:15am then do something A elseif time for submitdate <= 10:15am then do something B elseif time for submitdate <= 12:15pm then do something C else do something D

I understand that all asp classic vars are variants and to always make sure that you are working with the type that you want it is best to use these built-in Cxx() functions, but I'm confused about whether I should use CSng or CDbl for my calcs.
I don't think they will ever be more than say 6 decimal places (at the very most usually 2 or 3) and the value the other way won't be in the millions (chance would be a fine thing!!) so should I be using CSng or CDbl? Is there any kind of performance degradation in using one over the other? Is there any kind of accuracy degradation in using one over the other?
I need to execute different asp programs based on different values of a parameter. For example, if the user inputs ID of 1, program1 needs to be executed automatically, if user inputs ID=2, program2 needs to be executed in the background automatically. How do we do this in asp?
I want to send email with attachment. I have no problem if the file is located on the same server but i got error when attach file from different server. This is the code,
set mail=server.CreateObject("persits.mailsender") mail.host="smtp.mydomain.com" ..... 'mail.addattachment "c:attach est.txt" ' no problem with this mail.addattachment "websvrattach est.txt" ....... mail.send
I got this error, "Persits.MailSender.4 error '800a0007' Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password."
when i changed the servername to static ip address also got the same error. any idea? fyi, this user has an administrator rights to the server.
I know how to create dynamic tables in dreamweaver to display fields and records in a table of a database, but in my case I need to create a dynamic table that lists all the tables in the database, then to click on the one i want 2 edit the data in there.
Well, my script consists in check if the typed code doesn't exist in the DATABASE, but thats not the problem... the problem is that the PAGE1.ASP (that check the code) redirects to the ADD.ASP that will add those codes to the database!
That's the line in page1.asp that redirects to the add.asp. So, when the database is completed empty and, the page1.asp checks that there ins't any problem with it and redirect to the add.asp that doesn't update my database!! So, it continues without any record. But, if the database has, at least, one record, the script works normally without any problem!
Another thing that I noticed is that when I, manually, type the adress Http://127.0.0.1/add.asp?cod_1=176096, for example, and the the database is empty, the script does the UPDATE and adds the code to the table!
I have no idea that the problem is. Does any one have a clue?
I'm not sure if this is an ASP thing, a IIS thing, or a GoDaddy (where my domain is registerd and forwarded from) thing...
First I'll start by saying I run my own Windows XP web server and do all the coding myself..
I've noticed in the past (and never really gave it much thought, because the site works fine), that when I switch pages within my site, that the URL line is not always updated.
For example, I go into the pictures section, view a few pictures, then select the "Home" tab... The URL will stay with the variables that were passed when I was viewing the pictures. Therefore, if I do a "refresh", the page goes back to the pictures I was previously looking at, not the home page.
I've tried this on multiple computers at multiple sites, and with multiple browsers... And seems to happen rather consistantly...
I am looking at updating a notes part of my data base. I am calling two fields (first name and last) from the data base and putting them into read only text box (as i dont want the details changing). All of this is contained within a form. I am also calling a feild from the database called notes which originally has been inserted using a <textarea> tag. The problem i face is that you cant put values into a <textarea> (ie. i can put data from the database into the value tag of a textbox but <textarea> doesn't have a value tag). Due to this i am putting existing notes onto the page as text. Under this i have do have a <textarea> to put the new notes in. The problem i have is that i some how need to store the existing data in the notes field and then add it to the new notes that i will be adding. I just don't know how to put the data i am getting from the notes field in the database into a variable.
Having problems writing an update script because in one of my fields I'm adding a chunk of HTML that contains ' characters. Obviously this throws up an error. How do I get around this?
