if it is possible to insert and update records in a database from the data that is in an HTML table? I have a program that converts data to an HTML table and would like to be able to insert/update records to the database on the webserver.
I am having trouble getting records to insert and update properly. This is not a consistent problem. It is intermittent. The page will allow me to correctly update 2 or 3 times generally, however after that it will double up the data in the insert and update. Here is the code I am using. Code:
I have two tables. Table A has 20,000 records, Table B has 2,000 records. Table A is what needs to be updated from the data in Table B. Only some fields will be updated and of course, only some records - both tables have the same field as a ClientID so matching up records should be easy.
Anyways, been a while since I have used ASP to work on things like this but would like to work through this one. I understand the process I believe, it is just how to make it go on to the next record once it has finished updating the first.
Basically, I was thinking of having it set up to reaad the top record from Table B, update applicable data in Table A. Delete that record in Table B. Move on to the next.
I have the following code but this is inserting manually. I want to make a query from table 1 and automatically enter the records into table 2. What needs to be modified? Code:
I'm having problems inserting into a table in an oracle database. I am reading in variables from a ASP form and trying to enter these into the database. however only numbers will insert, even though I can print out the string variables on the ASP page. IF I inclose a string value in the insert statement it works ok so there is nothing wrong with my SQL code. Code:
I am right now calculating distance between 2 zip codes and storing them in a table along with extra information like a persons name and address and stuff like that.
For some reason for distance "0" ..doesnt get inserted in my table..? What do i need to do in my code so that "0" distance + information gets in the table since i need that info to be displayed later for people to make calls to those people with 0 distances.
my database is access and i'm trying to insert data from a form into the table's fields in the same order they are written in the form without explicitly having to mention the fields' names.
e.g. (this is the prototype of what i want to do)
for x=1 to request.form.count()-1 insert into table1(fields(x)) values (request.form.item(x)) execute the sql next
does anyone have an idea of the right syntax for this?
I'm trying to insert a table to format a list of options on a dynamic page using VBscript. The page currently displays the links in a list when the user chooses one from the drop down menu. I would like the links to be in three columns, rather than the default vertical list.
Can anyone direct me to a web page (tutorial) where there is an explanation on how to create a web page that connects to access database and I can enter data and update the table? I can create a page using visual Interdev that displays the table only.
i have really only been exposed to getting data from aSQL database and displaying it.I want to include a page in my application (like a form in Access i guess)with various text boxes and drop-downs + tick boxes. Then i want to click a submit button that inserts the data (providing is valid) into a SQL Server table.
I have had a search in google but nothing seems to explain this in its most basic terms (errorchecking and inserting).Could anyone give me an example of this or some background about this functionality.
I need to create a webpage with an HTML table that keeps track of certain data. I have created the table and hardcoded all the nonchanging cells.
The problem is the data I need to update the table with is FTP'd to a webshare in a .txt format. I need to take this file, parse it and update the table every morning at 745.
I have found ways to do it if the webpage receives a hit, but I still need it to do it on weekends and holidays when we are not in the office, because this file will be overwritten with the new data file the next day.
I am making backoffice manager for web-data based application. I am looking for universal technics(best technics) how to update multiple rows in backoffice.
One of solutions i found it is going through each row and update with new content. I am afraid for using long connection time for this process in case table has a lot of records. I think the best way should be one which takes minimum time for that.
I have an access database already uploaded at online-server. It has two tables which I want to update on daily basis. The most updated tables are at my local computer. And updated data need to add in uploaded database file.
I have tried to drop the tables from online database (I am successful to do this) and then I need to run a sql query to select all data from locally saved updated-table and paste them to uploaded database file. But this second task is not accomplished. Code:
I'm trying to insert into a table with foreign keys. The statement works in query analyzer but not when I do it in asp to insert the data from a form. Code:
I am doing a project for my HND for a football league and i am at the point where so far everything is goin good but i need to update the League table. For those that dont know how a league table works here it is:
For a Win you get 3 points A loss u get 0 a Draw u get 1
Any goals u score go into you 'Goals for' And any scored against you go in your 'Goals against".
Basically i already have some ASP files where the administrator of the system types in the results for games played now i need to update this league table depending on the results. I want to execute something like this:
If HomeScore is greater than AwayScore Then Add 1 to the played field, add 1 to the Wins field, add 3 to the Points field and for the goals for and against i thought it may look something like this:
For = for + "HomeScore' Against = Against + "AwayScore"
I have absolutely no idea how to do this, i dont know whether to use an Insert statement or an update Statement.
What i am trying to do is Update data in a table with data in another table but i want to update 2 fields in the destination table with data from 1 field in another table.
These are the table i have and their fields:
*CUPFirstRound* - Table1 GameId GameDate Home Away HomeScore AwayScore Winner
There are 8 rows in this table, thereofre the GameID's go from 1 to 8 Code:
I have an .asp page that contains a drop down menu, that when a selection is made, reformats the page to one of 22 different .asp pages. When clicked, the drop-down disappears and the options from it are formatted as a list on the left hand side of the page.
I need to format this so the list is in 3 columns, with the secection bold. I think I need about 4 if..then statements, but I've never done this before...here's the specific code, the code for the drop-down is first, then the code for the "quick link" list: Code:
1) I build a Html Table dynamically (Header Row, and then 2 rows with data All 2 rows have 2 cells: cell(0) contains a delete button (ASP Button), cell(1) contains a HTML Text box
2) On Form Load and get some data from a dataset and then from it's contents build the page
At this point the page is rendered and 2 rows are displayed. There is an Add button that a user can click to add another row to the table. This works fine and the row is added.
Now if the user clicks the delete button in row 2 the form is posted back, I rebuild the page, and then in the click event for the delete button remove the row from the table and the dataset. All appears to be fine at this point.
Now if the user clicks the add button again another row is added, but this time row 2's textbox has the wrong value. It appears to be related to the view state. I think the view state somehow is not getting cleared when the row is removed.
Would someone be able to explain the sql image field to me. I was reading about it a little but dont really understand.
I would like to have word documents that can be indexed and searched and i heard the image field with an accompanying char field with the file extension would be the trick. how would i actually get binary files into the image field?
I wanted to write an asp script so users could enter .doc that they could query. I understand basic asp sql inserts.
The problem concerns 2 tables, cart_products and cart_shoppingcart.
Cart_products contains all the product data (eg, prices, product's key name, etc), but most importantly, it contains the quantity of stock (prod_quantity) for each item.
cart_shoppingcart contains all of the user's items in their shoppingcart, including those that are part of an (customer) order; these have the order_number to differentiate from those that aren't in any order (their Order_number is 'no_order', the others have the order number).
Now, what I want to do is this:
For every item in the order (ie, every entry in cart_shoppingcart that matches the username and order number), take the quantity (x) the customer is ordering, then take the quantity of stock remaining (y), then subtract x from y to create the new stock level (z) and update the appropriate record in cart_products with z (all this with SQl preferably).
I was thinking of using a Do while loop, but realised that it wouldn't work as I'd have to use several SQL statements and then I'd run into a problem the minute ASP reads "objrec.movenext".
I have a project where all the links go to an intermediary page before being redirected to the destination page. For example, there is a link, say to final.asp. But final.asp only redirects the user to final_last.asp which is the actual destination.
Is there any reason for this indirection? It would seem one could save space and make things more efficient by going directly to the actual destination page. Did the author have a reason for doing things this way?
i made a little page called billing.asp. I seen on some websites where they can do somin like ie: billing.asp?id=34 and it brings up a record. How can I do that id=34 part?
I have created a form using HTML and Javascript. When I click on the submit button I need the Selected Answers to be sent to an Excel or MS-access or any database. I need to know whether this is possible using CGI/ASP. I guess ASP would be better. If not which one do you think is the best way to carry out.
My background is Crystal Reporting. In one of my Reports i had to create a Hyperlink which opens up a .asp FORM in which the user types in data and clicks SUBMIT, as soon as he does that it should get updated in the Oracle 9 database, i have the code for the .asp form and also for the .asp page which inserts data into the Oracle Database, My question is how to link these two .asp pages.
I am in the process of making an online examination system. The exam will have a total of 100 questions and each question has a time limit. I have done with coding of a question and setting time limit. Each question will get its question from a database table and also the 4 options.
Now my problem is that how i create 100 asp files for 100 questions??.. how can i link them so that when a user clicks submit button, he is taken to next asp file(question).. files are numbered as 1.asp,2.asp...etc. Is there any way i can create a template or something and files and links be automatically generated.
Now when somebody goes to the site www.mysite/allphotos.asp , it ask for the id/password and if the password is correct (as checked by another file ' password.asp' ) the user is redirected to a new page www.mysite/viewall.asp else it is redirected back to www.mysite/allphotos.asp with an error message. Now till this point all is working fine. But if somebody types in www.mysite/viewall.asp directly to their browser they would bypass the password page i have created and hence the security fails.
how can I redirect back to www.mysite/allphotos.asp if a user types in www.mysite/viewall.asp in the browser.I have tried assigning a variable (say goAhead = 0) in the password.asp file when the login is true. In the head of www.mysite/viewall.asp it checks if goAhead is not 0 it redirect back to www.mysite/viewall.asp . Now what is happening is that I can't open www.mysite/viewall.asp rightaway but even when password is correct it stll won't open and is redirecting back to allphotos.asp
Is there a way to make an image link to a field I already have in a database? Can I just simply put an html command to a link in a database in Access to an image? Or do I have to do an OLE object? I have no idea how to make an OLE object link to something.
Our company has a website in place that allows users to get information. I've been asked to call a custom made dll that returns a registration number to the user. I don't know much about dlls or coding concepts for that matter (I've built pretty basic client/server asp websites only), but I would like to be able to at least ask the right questions so that I can understand just what I need to look into to do this.
Does it depend what "kind" of dll it is and what language it's written in? Do I then just need to know the arguments it takes? How do you register a dll?
