Updating Via An INSERT Query Controlled By Checkbox
I have a form that if a user selects a certain option from a dropdown list a checkbox will appear. This checkbox references information from another table and then multiplies a figure before it is submitted (well, that's the theory anyway!)
I can't seem to get the multiplier to work. Can someone please give me some advice to this? I've included some simplified code that concentrates on the areas that I'm having difficulty. Code:
Currently i am using this function to update the database for the values of the checkboxes. Anyidea on how to go about including the values of those not selected. 0= not checked 1=checked
MenuName | Super | IT Menu1 1 1 Menu2 0 1
Code:
for each chk in Request.Form("opt") sSQL = "UPDATE GroupAccess SET IT = 1 WHERE MainMenuID = " & chk Conn.execute(sSQL) next
Is it possible to insert values in a Database with a checkbox? Say I have a recordset and if the check box is checked I want to insert the value of the of the field in the DB.
<%=rsqa.Fields.Item("recini").Value%>
That is a persons initials, i want to insert those initials in a column if it is checked, if it isnt checked nothing is inserted..
what Im trying to do is to insert into the database the values of the checked checkboxes of the recordset fields the appear in the table I've written the following code:
I have a form that is passing a number to check box values with the same name (productID) but different values (numerical values). It is also passing a warehouseID as a hidden field.
I need to dump these values into an access table called wtbProductWarehouses with fields titled ProductID and WarehouseID. What is the code that I need to write to have it loop through all of the productID values and individually add each one to the db while also adding the warehouseID with it.
I am having problems inserting checkbox data into my database. The string data from the text files in my form have no problems being inserted in the db. Code:
A page displays the Product literature that a customer can request to receive by postal mail by clicking a check box. The literature selections are created by a dynamic record set based upon what the company enters into the Literature table (currently 10 selections). The checkbox form tags are:
LiteratureID is the Access autonumber primary key field. I can use the LiteratureName in the "name" attribute if it is easier.
The form processing page needs to Insert each selection into its own record in another table. This "requested" table also inserts the database ID for the customer that is created after first inserting the customer contact info. In other words the "requested" table needs to record the customer autonumbered db ID and each selected checkbox value.
I have an .asp page with a form to copy job responsibilites form one job to another. It is a hotmail type interface with checkboxes besides each responsibility. After submitting, it should copy the selected resp's to a different job. After that it should renumber that job's responsibilities.
This is the code I am using now to copy:
copySQL4 = "INSERT INTO jambue.RESP(POSCODE,IDCODE1,IDCODE2,RESP_NUM,RESP) SELECT '" & id & "' POSCODE,'" & dept & "' IDCODE1,'" & unit & "' IDCODE2, '999' RESP_NUM, RESP FROM jambue.RESP WHERE (POSCODE = '" & POSCODE & "' AND IDCODE1 = '" & sourceDept & "' AND IDCODE2 = '" & sourceUnit & "') AND RESP_NUM IN (" & Request.Form("chk") & ")"
As you can see the value '999' is hardcoded in there as the new Responsibility Number to go with the copied responsibility. I use this because there are no jobs with that many responsibilities. This works fine if I only select one resp. to copy over. But if I select more than one that part still runs fine but I get an error with the below. It says too many rows would be affected. Of course, this must be because there are now at least 2 responsibilites with the same RESP_NUM. Code:
I want to change the existing code of our company e-commerce site so that the pull down menues are now checkboxes (will make life easier for sales to work with).
The pull down menu's must automatically submit, as the pricing changes with each selection.
Is there a way of auto submiting when a checkbox is ticked / unticked? Have tried using the "onChange=" that I nicked from the pull down... Code:
I have a form and when you click submit it is supposed to open up the database add the stuff from the form to the database and close the database. The problem is i am getting an error that says this:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

I have a SQL Server-driven website with public and secure areas. Anonymous connection is via IUSR and authentication for the secure area is done via asp. Several pages first authenticate with asp and then use the fso to provide access to certain files for downloading or viewing via hyperlink. Up to this point, I am satisfied that I am able to control access to certain files and folder.
The problem arises that, if an internet user guesses the path and filename, he can download a file through the browser. The actual files are outside of the website tree, and are accessed via virtual directories. I have tried to fix this by limiting access to the base folder to internal users only and creating a user "IFSO" that has external access.
Where I am at this point is that I get a "File Not Found" error when the fso.getfolder method tries to execute. Can I pass userid and password arguments in the getfolder method? If not, do you have any ideas as to how to give the website access to these folders without giving the public unrestricted access to them?
I want to insert 2 values in to a database WHERE the userID=1..... The SQL below shows what I have done so far, but I want it to enter these 2 values into the row where userID column equals 1.
I am reading about 200 records from dbf file in ASP code and inserting into a table. I fetch the records in a recordset and in the recordset loop I have to insert it into the SQL table.
How should I insert the values?
1) Should I use query in ASP page
2) Or call stored procedure (passing each record parameter) for inserting, 200 times in the loop.
Also what type of cursor should be created, Client side or Server side.
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005' [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Operation must use an updateable query. It points to the "set rs2=db2.execute(sql)" line
The sql statement looks like this: Insert into tblInCart(user, item_number, qty, price, description, taxcode) Values('EXMPLE', '100BLUERASP', 1, 3.99, 'MIX COCKTAIL BLUE RASP', 'N')
The user, item_number, description, and taxcode fields are text, the qty field is integer, and the price field is currency. The rs2 recordset was previously used for a select query, which works fine, but it is closed before this happens.
Here is my delima im hoping you can help me with. My code currently works fine. However I want to make some modifications to it to get that best possible outcome for my client(Taxi company). Here is the code logic:
The code code currently has one text field which takes a number(Taxi number) and returns all calls assigned to the taxi number inputed in the text field and returns all, canceled, and pickedup calls by said taxi number within the CURRENT DAY. Im trying to find out how i can input a taxi number and get returned calls from PREVIOUS DAYS also preferablly going back one WEEK to a MONTH. I hope im clear. If not please inquire for further clarification.
I have problem inserting value with special characters such as email address: anne.walker7@btinternet.com and creditcard:1111 2222 3333 4444 number with spaces inbetween the numbers as these special characters are reserved in MS Access. Any help
we have a query in a stored procedure that is called once a form has been submitted which inserts form data into our database. the problem we are having is that when a user refreshes the page , another record is added to the database. a way to prevent this from happening.
I have a problem with my INSERT query, I have tblDueDates, tblClient and three main forms.……..but I get errors when trying to insert payments. I have tblClient and tblDueDates and 1.frmDueDates, to insert and display the due dates for the payments ,
2.frmPayDateList in order to display the Due Dates of all clients in a list according to their due dates and 3.frmClientsPayedrecord, to see the payments of each client after the user clicked on the ‘payed’ button on the 2.frmPayDateList form. Form frmDueDates and frmClientsPayrecord are linked to tblDueDates.
But I get an error when clicking on that ‘payed’ button on the frmPayDateList. I use an INSERT query to insert the payments into that one table tblDueDates and also it should avoid duplication with this query and it’s where clause!!!!
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80004005) [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Operation must use an updateable query. /changeprofile.asp, line 44
The setup: Access database of vendors. A vendor can offer one or more services.
ASP page provides user a checkbox of services. User clicks one or more options and submits. The database should return all vendors that match the services selected.
No dice. I can of course easily pull up vendors that match one service. But the multiple options are treated as an AND search. I don't want to find only vendors that provide all the services checked, but all the vendors that provide one or more of the services selected by the user.
I have tried stored procedures in Access and SQL statements. I either get data type errors or nothing found.
I have it at the moment that on the main default.asp there is a recordset that will display all records within that table, these are a list of forums that will be available.
I have a table that will show the forum name, and the description. This table is then looped using Do while not, now what i need to do is show how many records in the Treads table are related to each forum using asp. Code:
My code retrieves a username and a password from a form. Then this information is compared to some usernames and passwords that are stored in a database. The important thing here is that the comparison must be case sensitive meaning that "passWord" is not the same thing as "password"
I have this code, working fine in access 2003
SQL = "SELECT * FROM users WHERE StrComp(username_column,'" & entered_username_in_form & "',0) = 0 AND StrComp(password_column,'" & entered_password_in_form & "',0) = 0"
but get the following error when I run it against my sql 2005 database.
[Microsoft][SQL Native Client][SQL Server]'StrComp' is not a recognized built-in function name.
I don't know the corresponding t-sql for the query.
I am running a querry on an access database and have set the number of records/page displayed at 20. if there are more than 20 records returned, then 1st page will show the first 20, the next page will show next 20 and so on....
The trouble:
the count of total records displayed is correct and the first page is displayed correctly. But when i click on *Next* to go to the next page, all the records of the database get displayed (not the 2nd page of records from the query).
is there a way of having a dropdownlist and a text field with a checkbox so that you can check a box and have the vaule assigned from a option selct list or check another box and have the value assigned from a textfield?
I would like to make an interaction with a database using ADO and SQL. I would like to display some parts of the database using checkboxes to choose the different parts. But I don't know how to build the SQL command in fuction of which checkbox is checked.
