Access Denied - Interdev 6

I am launching, for the first time, on a new laptop, Visual Interdev (version 6.0 SP5). In the "New Project" dialog box, I enter a new project name and click Open. The Project Wizard, Step 1 of 4 asks: What server do you want to use? I type in localhost, and, leaving Master mode selected, I click Next.

A message pops up that says "Contacting Web Server", and then I immediately get an error dialog box: Server Error (Error code = 80070005). When I look on the web for error code 80070005, I see that it has something to do with Access Denied.

Access Denied While Sending Mail From ASP

I searched through this forum to find a answer to my problem but
couldn't find it in any of the forums, so I'll describe the problem and
the solution here.

I am using ASP on SBS 2003 with IIS 6.0 and Exchange 6.5.7226.0. I have
a page where the user can submit a form to send email. I followed
Microsoft's sample code to use either CDOSYS or CDOEX, but I kept
getting error 80070005, which is an access denied message. Here's my
simple sample code:

<%
function sendEmail(to, from, subject, body) {
var iMsg = Server.CreateObject("CDO.Message")
iMsg.To = to
iMsg.From = from
iMsg.Subject = subject
iMsg.TextBody = body
iMsg.Send()
}
%>

Here's what I did to fix the problem: From the IIS Manager, right-click
Default Web Site, choose Properties, then the Home Directory tab.
Change the Application pool from DefaultAppPool to ExchangeApplicationPool.

No more error 80070005.

Access Denied To Wscript.shell

I need to use nslookup on an asp page. So I use the sort of code I can see
in the discussion group:

SET objShell = Server.CreateObject("Wscript.Shell")
DIM objExec
SET objExec = objShell.Exec("%comspec% /c nslookup -type=MX "&host)

but I get "access denied" on the SET statement. (It doesn't matter what
command I am using in the shell.)

On the physical IIS application directory Web sharing is enabled
I enable anonymous access
I have full control for the internet guest account.
I have permission for scripts and executables on the virtual directory
application protection low
read write directory browse

I have enabled web sharing for windowsSystem32. (I probably shouldn't have!)

Clearly there is something I have forgotten. But what?

SQL Server Does Not Exist Or Access Denied.

I have an ASP page which has commands to access a SQL Server 2000 database. Ex:

rsDatabase.ConnectionString = "Provider=SQLOLEDB;Data Source=xx.xxx.xx.xxx,yyyy;Initial Catalog=ABCDEF;uid=john;pwd=smith"

This line returns the following error:

1. There is not much load on both the web and sql server and this is the only connection which I'm trying to open with the database.

2. I have tried connecting to the database using the System DSN, but it won't connect

3. On some days and at some times, the page works perfectly with no complaints.

WinHttpRequest

I have a simple ASP page that connects to another
server, requests a page, manipulate the results
and sends it to the client.
My problem starts when the remote server sets a
cookie with no path attribute and then redirect me
to another page. The redirection is done
automatically which is great for me but WinHttp
doesn't send the new cookie.
I discovered that WinHttp will only send that
cookie for the page it was set for. I thought no
path is like stating "path=/".
Is this expected from WinHttp and how can I solve
this problem?

Winhttprequest Posting Byte() And String In Multipart Message.

posting words fine but when I want to create one multipart message
with both then things go wrong.

The binary file is converted and of datatype byte()
The xml file is just a string.

I don't know how to merge these two into the multipart message. I have
tried converting the binary to string and then concatenate but that
doesn't work as it seems to leave off the last part of the file and
the boundary.

Correct HTTP Response Status Code On "Access Denied" Page.

I have a password-protected area on my site. I'm not using any server
authentication methods: Instead I prompt the user for a username and
password using an HTML form and check these against a database of
registered users.

I was thinking that this page should be returning a HTTP status code of
"401 Unauthorized" instead of its current "200 OK". My reasoning being
that this would let search engines know what's going on when they
request a protected page and get redirected to the "Access Denied"
page.

I experimented with adding response.status = "401 Unauthorized" to the
"denied" page, but now it displays a (Windows/IE) username & password
prompt instead. The HTTP sniffer shows that the www-authenticate field
is set to "Basic".

My question: How can I indicate to the search engines that the page it
is requesting requires authentication, yet have it not display the
login/password dialog box?

Proxy Cached

We encountered a very strange problem. We host a web site:
www.[our_site].com and a large number of our users belong to an
organization group with central network control and they can only
access our web site through two headquarter proxy servers: x.x.a.7 and
x.x.b.8, which was set in security dept of the group headquarter. The
web site was working fine till recently when those user accessing via
x.x.a.7 all have problem suddently while those accessing via x.x.b.8
have no problem. The users accessing via x.x.a.7 are directed to wrong
page, very slow response, hang on some page or encounter errors, etc.
If they access the same site via another alias, like
www2.[our_site].com which points to the same web server, they will not
have any problem. They do not have problem to access any other web
sites we tried, including our other web sites hosting in the same site,
even the same server. If the users change their ie setting to use other
public proxy server, they will have no problem to access our site.
Strict security policy are applied to the user site, so we cannot ping,
tracert or do any other network testing from user machine. Since user
has no problem to access any other web site, the headquarter security
department wont handle our case and simply think it is our problem.

Are There Any Issues With ASP And Proxy Servers?

Our website works correctly for 99.9% of customers, however we have one set
of customers who access our website from what appears to be a proxy server
of some kind. i.e. The IP address is always the same no matter where the
location of the computer is.

My site is a framed site, and the specific problem is that a list of links
in one frame will not load a page on another frame. I don't believe this is
a browser compatibily problem. (I wont rule it out though). But there are no
problems as far as I can tell on other peoples computers.

My question is....Is there anything special that needs to be done to make
sure a site works through proxy servers, or is this likly to be some other
problem such as an SSL problem (the whole site is under ssl), browser
incompatibility problem, or just downright dodgy programing on my behalf?

WGET And Reverse Proxy

We have this portal that accesses content from various places on the web. The portal is SSL secured, so any content that is outside the portal and nonsecure is going to cause an nonsecure error prompt in every page within the portal site.

So, we obviously want to get away from these annoying messages. To do it, we've considered a reverse proxy, and even a tool like WGET... but, WGET can't fetch a complex URL... and reverse proxys seem like they might be a serious pain to set up along side our tomcat server
