how to replace the system.web section using MSBUILD? I managed to change the appSettings and connectionStrings sections but when i tried to replace system.web i got an error message reporting missing system.web section.

I have 2 diff sections on my web page, we would like it displays section 1 when viewers are in a default.asp page, else displays a section 2, how can we do that? something like this:
If default.asp then

else
display this section 2

So say I have 2 sections of my form. I want section 1 to be emailed to person1@host.com and I want section 2 to be emailed to person2@host.com.
I already have a very crude code to send out an email for the entire form to 1 person. Can anyone help me with this?
I am trying to change a current emailer script.
The current version will run a FOR loop for each form element and will give them a label (by a variable). This label is then attached to each form element's value on the email.
However the email is pretty untidy so I would like to change the code so that groups of labels appear as groups on the email.
i have a anal client that requires my excel pages to look exactly like this one. the only problem i see is going to be the header section. It's in the center top cell and is centered.
I've never done any type of exporting to excel yet, before i get to deep into it. Is it possible to format an excel doc from asp exactly like this ?
my site (which I am currently redeveloping) has 3 different sections to the site. All which well contain different information.
What I want to know is how can I make the starting page of the site display information which the users is looking for.
eg. if the user always go to one section of the site the main page well show information relevant to that section. (I hope you know what I mean)
So I was thinking about how to do this and this is what I came up with.
Set a cookie for the site and each section has there own number value (eg. 1 to 10)
When the user hits the main page it gets the values of all 3 sections from the cookies and checks which has the most value (eg 3, 5, 10).
Based upon the highest value each section has there own .asp include which is shown to the user.
I would like to set up the following:
The web user does a search of a database and the results are returned in an
HTML table. I want to present the user with a table that just shows the
salient facts (brief item description, stock value, etc).
However, I'd like to give the user the opportunity to expand (and if they
wish to contract again) any one row of the table to display things like a
picture and an extended description of the row item, rather than have them
go to a separate page for this.
I'd also like to give them the option to expand all rows in the table (and
contract them again) if they wished.
What's the best way to achieve this? I'm not sure of the target audience,
so may have to support browsers using HTML4 (may even be Netscape...)
I have an ASP site. Now we need to define some setting on config file.
on basis of that value asp page control will switch visible true or
false. everything is working if I hard coded the value but only need
to know how could I read the config file value in asp page.
I have followed knowledege base Article 301305. I am running 2000 adv, IIS 5.0 . I have the following settings to the folder that has the asp.

Is there anything else i need to do? I installed the lockdown awhile back...does that interfere?
got things a litme more fixed here after spending another 4 hours figuring out things within the .net framework but ey it's all for the better. WHat if i wanted to start my web.config programaticly, how would i load it into my applicaion and maybe more important, where.

View Replies View RelatedI moved a site from a dedicated server to a shared hosting environment. On my dedicated I could specify the order of precedence for the default / index files. On the shared default.asp takes precedence of index.html and I can not change that.
Support told me to look into using a web.config file to accommodate my needs. What I need to do is have the index.html file show up first, not the default.asp Is the web.config file the route to take?

How do I take out double quotes before writing to database? As doing ,""",""e;" created an error.Is it something like ,chr(34),""e;" which I sort of stumbled accross when I did soem google searching... But what and where do these chr(34) etc coem from?

My form gets populated from an access database. Now in the database there are fields containg <br>. While in a normal page everything works as it's supposed to, in my listbox the <br> shows as it is. What I would like to do is replace it with a space so I've used this:

ok, this is good, but when I use it in a URL, it includes "this" but then the link dies and the rest is just text, the user must then copy and paste the whole address in the browser. Anyway to get around this?

I have a dedicated server on which I am hosting about 80 websites at the moment, all of which have been created by copying a template site. All of these sites have an identical structure and are located in the same directory on the server, C:Inetpubvhosts. Several times when I have needed to make an adjustment to the sites I have to go into the remote desktop connection to the server and go site by site, copying and pasting files. For example, as each site has the same pages, ie., map.asp, sometimes I make a change to that page and have to copy it to every site. Could I write some sort of script using the FSO and execute it from one site and have it loop through each site on the server making the neccessary change(s)?
