I have just set up an ASP-based site to a new Windows 2003 SP1 server with IIS 6.0. Before now the site has run under IIS 5.0 on Windows 2000.
Every time an ASP page is opened, IE shows the error: "Cannot find server or DNS Error". All static page types open fine (HTM, GIF etc)
The confusing thing is - I have allowed Active Server Pages under Web Service Extensions in the IIS manager. No other extensions are allowed, other than ASP.NET.
I have tried accessing the site from the server itself, from another machine on the LAN. I have tried using the IP address, server name and localhost in the URL. I have also removed the Virtual Directory the site lives in. None of these changes made any difference. Oh yes, I have also tried rebooting!
I am to build a site onto an ASP server. Anyone here used Dreamweaver and is it just a simple matter of opening up a new ASP page in Dreamweaver and build the site like you would normally do with a HTML page and it will handle the ASP coding accordingly and you can just simply upload it onto an ASP server and it will work?
The site I am to build is basically just a standard html website, but my friend wants me to build it for an ASP server so he has asked me to make sure it is an asp site so I am presuming with the extension .asp
If I build it as a html site to begin with, will converting it to asp be hard. Could I just export my pages into asp or is there more to it?
Can a Html website be loaded and working on an asp server or host?
Is it possible to have a site mixed both html and asp, eg. the home page is html and when you click on shopping cart on the home page it goes to a hopping cart page thats .asp or do they all have to have the same extension.
I fire the following code on Index Server (different obj) and it returns a PDFs no problem, but when I change the object to use the MSSearch for Site Server I don't get any PDFs. Anything in the code that would cause this? I can see the PDFs getting crawled in Site Server, but when I try and search I don't get any pdfs .....
I'm currently migrating an ASP/SQL 7.0 site that runs on Windows NT 4 server to an ASP/SQL 2000 platform running on Windows 2003. The current server resides in Orlando, FL. The new server will reside in Miami, FL. Here's a recap.
Old Location/Server: Orlando, Florida SQL 7/ASP/Windows NT 4
New Location/Server: Miami, Florida SQL 2000/ASP/Windows 2003
Along the way, many apps are breaking (which was expected). I've successfully recoded CDONTS to CDO and I'm slowly working my way through 1999 code.
I also found out the hard way that you need to explicitly tell Windows 2003 to run ASP pages or it will ignore all calls. I also performed the User migration steps from SQL 7 to SQL 2000 which was a breeze with the help of the Microsoft knowledge base. Code:
We are looking replace site server's catalog search application. We need to crawl a public website and allow uses to search indexed pages. We need a product to index our site and index custom meta tags we put in our pages. What website crawling products are available in the marketplace?
i have recently completed and tested a site in using IIS on my desktop as a server, and everything runs fine. Upon transferring all the files up to the Real Server at work, the ASP pages are not displayed as i get an error saying that the include files caanot be found.
The include files for my ASP pages are in a folder called 'includes' which sits in the same dir as the ASP files. This setup works fine on IIS on my desktop, but for some reason, this same setup is not working when the files are on the Server. Has anyone got any ideas as to why this might be happening?
I have to make a site search function for my website. User types a keyword, and the search function searches through all the static pages for the keyword. The result of the search has to display the URL relating to the keyword, which the user can click to read the contents.
I had no idea how to go about doing it, finally I thought of using a textfile containing the word, and its related URL in the format: Code:
I have 404.asp file that catches non existing pages such as www.site.com/es for spanish version of site. Now I would like to move ahead and have es.site.com instead. I started digging into subdomains in IIS and found out that usually when creating subdomain in IIS it creates a separate sub-directory by the same name as the subdomain created. From some reason the custom error 404.asp file I already have is not called when a call to a non existing sub domain page is made.
Anyone knows why?
How do I configure 404.asp to also handle subdomain page requests?
I know that in Unix/Apache I can use .htaccess file to direct calls to es.site.com to www.site.com/es quite easily, can this be done somehow on IIS?

I have to pass form data from my site to another organizations site using POST method... how exactly do I do that? Im familiar with how to do it within a single site/domain, and cant use querystring... I dont know where to begin.
Whenever I do a site that is mostly static but with some semi-dynamic sections, I've struggled to find a good site search solution without paying for a hosted search service.
I like the FSO-based search engines, but they fail to pick up on some of the dynamic part.
I was just creating a Google sitemap and it made me wonder: has anyone created or seen a script that uses the XML Google sitemap to power a search engine for your own site?
Seems like if you were keeping it updated for Google, why not use it for your own site?
I've already unchecked the "show friendly http errors" advanced option and it work fine in one page only. The problem is when the page is in a iframe and that iframe is in a table. Got that massage.
On the other way I've another site with iframes and tables.....and this doesn't happened. Have a 50 k paint picture attatched.
I just installed IIS 5.1 and Visual Studio 2003 with .NET 1.1.
I'm having a problem starting an ASP.NET project. Everytime I select an template from the IDE I get the above message.
I set up a default.htm page and the IIS server appears to be working. It just won't let me start a new VS project. Does anybody have a clue why this is happening?
BTW, the error also occurs on another computer on the LAN. Could this be a conflict of some kind on the network?
I'm using ASP with Oracle 9i and before I was using forms 6 and change it to Developer Suite, so as soon I made the change my ASP programing started to show me this error every time I run the browser.
HTTP 500.100 - Internet Server Error - ASP error
Error Type:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle (0x80004005) Oracle error ocurred, but error message could not be retrieved from Oracle.
Then it says that the error is on the line 42 where I have the connection to the database. This is the connection that I use: Code:
I have one 3 tier architecture application running on Windows 2000 Server.
I have created replica of same machine on another machine where OS is Windows 2000 Advance Server.
But when I port same running application on new machine i.e. Machine with OS as Windows 2000 Advance Server, my middle tier (Active-X Dll, COM+ application) fails.
It throws common error Invalid Procedure Call or argument
What could be the problem? Do I need to change any settings for running application on Windows 2000 advance Server.
i am using a ASP application with following things
Server : Intel Xeon (TM) CPU 2GHz, 2GB RAM, 136GB HDD OS : Windows 2000 Advanced server. IIS5.0 Database: Oracle (Using ADODB to connect to the Database) App server running on the same machine (COM+)
after using the application for 2/3 hours i get an error message
"Internal Server Error"
once i restart the server it works absolutely fine for some hours.
After encountering the error i opened COM+ and clicked on the "Computers" node . Then got the following error
"Error Code 80010108 the object invoked has disconnected from its clients."
I've created a new table in a SQL Server db called 'LGBProdDetails' and I keep getting an error from my asp page that queries the table The error is:
Category=Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers Brief Description =[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Invalid object name 'LGBProdDetails'. COM Error Number =-2147217865 (0x80040E37)
I know I have the name correct and I can query it with query analyzer using the same query as the one in the asp pag. I'm wondering if it is a permissions issue. When I try to look at the properties and permissions for this table I get an error 'select permission denied on object 'syslogins', database, 'master' owner 'dbo'. Do I need to be logged in as 'dbo' to create a table and set permissions. The account I was logged in as when I created the table is listed in the 'roles' diaglog box for db_owner so shouldn't it have the same rights as the dbo?
