I have script pulling text from a databse which is just the name of a file, e.g: test and I have code which puts a hyperlink around it, for example: http://www.myserver/files/test.doc , so that when the user clicks on it the file opens up for them. How do I check that if the name of the file is a particular filename the address is different.
Basically 1: if filename = test1
address = http://www.myserver/files/test1.doc
2: if filename = EXTERNAL
address = http://www.myserver/EXTERNAL.doc
Here's my code so far:
<TD WIDTH=83 class="body"><P><A HREF="http://www.myserver/files/<% Response.Write RSEmps("fileName")%>.doc"><% Response.Write RSEmps("fileName") %></TD>

I ran into a little problem with wrapping text and found 'a' solution. The problem was when I read in text from a DB table field to populate a HTML table. I found a line of text to wrap mysteriously after column 37 even when the field was defined with a max character count of 100.
I removed the <td> tag's 'width' attribute and this took care of the wrapping problem.
I hope this will help someone else.

I cannot find any information on how to insert an image into a block of text
and have the text wrap around the image. All if the text and graphics in
the client's site are being pulled from the database using response.write.
When I write straight HTML, it is easy to place an image into a block of
text and align the image right or left, having the text wrap around the
image.

I would like to dynamically add a text as a watermark on images.
I managed to do that with aspsmartimage but as the watermark is added
when the image is sent to the browser, it takes too much ressources on
the server, due to a big number of images to diplay simultaneously.
Is there a way or an other component to do that more efficiently. I
can't add the watermark when uploading the file because it has to be
written when the image is displayed.

The image it self will not be published, I need it to calculate the price for the add.
There for I need it with the fonts used in the newspaper. Don't now if this is the right group.

On my index page I have got an area for one product to be displayed randomly from the
database. I have got it workign, but there is one problem i cant get my head around, here is the code so far:
' Initialize ASP RND() function
Randomize()
intRandomNumber = Int (1000*Rnd)+1
strsql = "SELECT TOP 1 art_Artist, art_Title, Rnd(" & -1 * (intRandomNumber) & "*cat_ID)" &_
"FROM eventDisplay " &_
"ORDER BY 3"
The code above isnt working and its when i try and draw out more that one value, as in art_Artist and art_Title.
It works fine if all I want is art_Artist, but as i said when i try to draw out more than one value the randomize function doesnt work.

I am working on a asp and sql website that I did not make. It runs an asp based content management system, where users can enter news articles. They enter the "body" into a text box/area and can add images separatly. The image will show up to the to left of the article.
This goes into a SQL database, and gets pulled out by asp for the webpage. I want to make it so a user can add in an image into the body of the article ( like in a word document ) and have it show up where they put it. What is the easiest way to do this. Both easy on me and the user.

Is there a way to prevent IE from forcing a line break? Below in LISTING 2,
you notice the table background image extention of '.jpg' begins a new line,
instead of staying on the same line as it's file name. Same happens with my

wants. I should note, the below HTML results is actually 1 table of 40 or so

I have two columns in my microsoft access database.
1st column is company_logo (jpg image)
2nd column is company_name (text)
I want to build a form, a dropdown box which I would populate with the help of a sql statement from my database. The both columns from up there are associated.
When the user clicks on that dropdown box, I need that company_logo and company_name to be shown one beside another. It should list all the companies availible (taken from that sql statement or recordset).
Does anyone knows if this could be done?
Maybe I should stick just with the textual part?

I have a recordset containing many fields from one row of data populated by an SQL query.
If I return the entire recordset in one row with the column headings the table would scroll off the right of the screen.
What I want to be able to do is to create several tables, one below the other of five columns each to display the data.
This is fine if I am returning just data, but I want the field.Name as well as the data - which is causing me problems.

I am working on a date function, which takes a YYYY-MM-DD input and splits it into dd,mm,yyyy format. e.g:
string1 = "2006-10-20"
Function stripDate(str)
str_len = len(str)
if str_len = 10 then
str = replace(str, "-","")
str_yr = left(str,4)
str2 = right(str,4)
str_mo = left(str2,2)
str_dy = right(str2,2)
stripDate = str_dy & "," & str_mo & "," & str_yr
else

end if
End Function

sample output: 20,10,2006
I then want to pass the sample output into another function, but in order to do that, the date variables must be split with speech marks as follows:
"20","10","2006"
but I can't work out how to include that in the stripDate function so that it wraps the variables in speech marks. Whenever I try to include the speech marks the code returns the usual error about unterminated string constants e.g. if I replace the final line of the above function with this:

I have a client who has had a ASP site with an Access database for several years. It stores information for the used cars on his lot. I have stored text in the database that points to the location of the image for each record. Each record will have a thumb image that is supposed to display in a list of vehicles available then the user can select an item from this list and a new page displays with the information and the regular size image. So far everything has worked fine exept for the display of the images which are stored in a separate directory called veh-photos. All I get are image place holders. I am using Dreamweaver 2004 and and Access 2000 for the database.

1.I want to show a image file of type '.tif' in the browser window; for that I'm writting as ASP code page.
2.This '.tif' type image can be shown better with 'Kodak Image Control'.
3.To have this 'Kodak Image Control' on my code page I just add it's ..ocx to tool box and then drag it from 'Toolbox' to the page.
4.Now after dropping this control to the code it's type is getting changed to 'object' instead of type 'ImgEdit'(and I think this is the
reason I don't get correct result).
5.On one button's 'Onclick' event I'm calling a javascript function with which I'm setting a 'Path'and'Display' property of a control.
6.And want to show a image at location -- '..MFTDRCMF919685173-62.tif' which get shown in new browser window but could not get shown in that particular control. That means the path is correct, then what is the problem?
For better understanding of problem I'm pasting a following code which I've tried up till now......

I am creating a dynamic ASP VBScript page, which gets data from an Access database.
In the database, there is a field which holds a URL to an image. I can get the image to display fine, but where there is no file that matches the URL (i.e. a missing image) I want to display an alternative, default image (e.g. one that says "Awaiting Image"). The field is never blank, but the image file may not exist for all records in the database.
I think what I am trying to get to is the following:
If file exists (using URL from database to get location of image file) then
display image using the url from the database as the image source
else
display default image - hardcoded in program
endif
I have had a go and come up with the attached but I get an error with my if statement...

When using ASP's FileSystemObject to create text files, I am unable to get user submitted text (in Hebrew) to save as anything other than "?????". The text file is being saved in Unicode and setting the CodePage in ASP proved unsuccessful. Strangely, hard coded Hebrew text in an ASP variable does add to the text file correctly.
Any ideas of why this happens and how to get it to work correctly?
