The data would be more than one line.....
I have a text file that has two lines in it, the first line gives item
labels, my second line gives values for those labels. I would like to use
ASP to present this data on a web page. I also want the page to reload every
10 seconds so that any updates to the text file would be relfected on the web
page.
I found the complete physical path to the doman by Response.Write Server.MapPath(".") and the path is: C:Inetpubwwwrootmyweb"&"gg.txt
With this, there's still error to read my text file. The error source code is place at below, please help me do correction!!! Code:
I need to load the file path of a file on a web server into a form text box. I tried using a normal form box using type=file but that just seems to return the file path from the local machine.
Ideally I'd like it if someone can get this to work with a file on a web server without using asp. If not then I suppose I'd have to use the FileSystemObject method. I can see how you can get a list of files from a remote server using FileSystemObject.
The problem I need help with is selecting a file path from the list of files into a text form box. The path of which I am then going to write to a database field.
Client said "Yea, our current host does PHP and all that" and of course they don't. I know PHP, so hopefully it is somewhat similar to ASP. Anyway...I want to know how to take information from an HTML form and write the info to a text file. It is going to be *very* basic as I only need to write one line to the text file.
It is just so the client can type in the monthly loan rate, or something like that, and save that info to a text file. Then, show the text file on all the pages.
I am working on a safetywear deduction system and i need to perform the following functions: write to a text file and read from a test file and wrute to a table in the database. I need code to write and read to a text file in asp please.

Each "subsite" has a few different session variables that are used in varying ways to display information germaine to that user. <br><br>My customer (the portal owner) wants users to be able to render any page on the site to a .PDF that is then sent via email to the user.
I can render an HTML file to PDF via a .COM object, but the problem is that I cannot figure out how to render the .ASP page to HTML. My initial thought was to use MSXMLHTTP to GET the page, but when I do this, the GET method always returns the logon page.
<br><br>What I'd like to do is have a link to a processor page that just "captures" the HTML as it's sent to the browser and writes it to a static HTML file, which I can then easily turn into a PDF. Anyone have any ideas?
ive set the permissions to the folder which the text file is in to 'Write' and 'Read', but i still continue to get:
[/CODE]
Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a0046'
Permission denied
/modules/admin/program.asp, line 197
[/CODE]
all the path leading to the file is set to allow write aswell.... any ideas why this might be happening?
I have a problem
DB:SQL Server
Field type is varchar and some data is unicode like this "•õ" It is a chinese. How do I transfer the data I retrive from DB and then I can write it into an text file with its proper chinese word using FileSystemObject. Or any other way ?
I have an asp page that writes to a text file. Can someone tell me what the
correct permissions should be on the network - so it's safe from various
users coming in to manipulate any files?
I have a form mail script that sends an email and then writes to a text file using Server.CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject").
The problem I am having is that the information needs to be saved in a Password Protected Directory. When I try to save the info it gives me a permission denied error.
I had my hosting company change the permission on the directory and the script was working ok but now it isn't.
Is there a way to pass the username and password in the script so I don't have to worry about the hosting company messing this up?
I need code please..
View Replies View RelatedI need to read a simple txt file where there are some variables. I've done
this a lot of times but in this case I have something different: the text
file is located at an ftp server.
The FTP server has anynomous access.
Anyone know how can I do this?
I currently am trying to get a form to send its data to a text file. I use the code I have found in tutorial/help sites around the web, but when I try the code out, nothing happens.
When I click the "Submit" button on my form, I am sent to the .asp file and the code in that file is displayed in the browser. There is nothing written to the text file either.
The code I have in my test.asp file is:
I have an application which was successfully writing data from submitted forms to a text file in a directory - in this case:
/data/findata.txt
This was fine because the forms lived at the root level with this directory.
Since then I have added enabled the forms to be used on subdirectories :
/subdirectory/myform.asp
I've used the same code for server.mapparth("data") etc - but instead of locating the directory at the root of the server called "data" it looks to the current directory- doesn't find it and creates another! eek!
What I need is a way to say "right, it doesnt matter what level you are at at the moment, always look at the root level /data directory"...
This has to be fairly dynamic - on the development server here its got a different file structure than on the live server (ie, it lives another level down again on the physical drive)...
Anyone got a good idea on how to look back up?
I do have one way to test which level they are at - but I feel that its a bit 'weak' - I have an ID that tells me if they are working on the upper or lower levels (ie, anything other than 1 is a lower level) - whilst I realise I could use this in the test I'm not sure if its going to be 100% fool proof to base this criteria on this ID.
Therefore I was hoping for a better way using the server.mappath etc...
Is there a way to load a text file from a remote server into a string much like using the Inet Control in VB? I am familiar with reading in RSS feeds, but what should I do if the content is a straight text file?

I'm looking to display information pulled from a database based on
information the user puts into a text box. The user will enter their
sales rep number and I want to hit a table and return their name as
soon as they tab off of the text box. Any ideas or help would be
appreciated
I need to read a SQL Server table into a Web Page and within the Web
Page to permit my users to make changes to the records, delete or add
new records and then save the entire contents back to the SQL Server
table back.
The functionality I am looking is almost the same as In the SQL
Enterprise Manager whereby I can choose a table open the table and
then return all rows and I can maintain the same and save it back to
the SQL Server table. I want almost a similar web interface to such a
functionality.
Even if not a generic functionality as the SQL Enterprise Manager
table maintenance appreciate if somebody can share the code with a
sample how I can do it in ASP pages + T-SQL if need be.

I am developing an asp.net 2.0 application using visual studio 2005 on my
computer and I am getting very inconsistent results when I test on my
computer versus from other computers.
The symptom of the problem is that the web server does not receive cookie
information from the browser after I have properly logged in to the web
server. Without this information, my session state keeps on getting lost and
the authentication logic sends me back out to the login page.
Using Fiddler, I have narrowed down the problem to what I think is the
browser not always sending cookie information (containing the session and
authentication ticket) to the web server.
This is what I have tried:
1. If I run the browser on the same computer as the webserver, I see that
the cookies are sporadically not being sent from the browser for the .aspx
pages.
2. If I run the browser from a 2nd and 3rd computer and hit the web server
on the first computer, I see that the cookies are always being sent for the
..aspx pages.
3. If on the webserver I force asp.net to assume cookieless clients, my
browser on the same computer works fine since the "cookie" information is
part of the URL.
I haven't tried installing my dev environment on the 2nd or 3rd computers
and try to see how the browser behaves when hitting the new webserver. I am
trying to avoid that for now. But from my 1st computer, if I run the browser
against a totally different web application I have seen the same behavior in
my Fiddler logs. The browser sporadically does not send cookie information
to the server.
I suspect that it may be something specific to the IE browser on my
computer. Maybe there is some security program or setting that is causing
this issue on this computer and not others. Does anyone have any thoughts or
ideas on what this problem could be? I want to find out the problem to make
sure that when I deploy my web application, this issue does not resurface on
my user's computers.
