My question is about validating emails.
I am doing validation on server side.
I have plenty of mails which seems OK or validated but does not real mail actually.
like
****@***.***
On some web sites, you enter your email and submit it. After submitting you get a mail which has a link stating that it should be clicked in order to complete the registration.
In reality is it a solution or is there any way?

I’m wanting to know if there is a free what to do an extensive email verification through Asp? Like an MX Lookup and DNS check, without looking up from an external server?
We get a lot of invalid emails and I would like to check if the email or if the domain exists before submitting the form.

point me to some resources about Email Auto Verification. I'm using ASP.What my system is doing is after the user sign up, my system need to send an email automatically back to the user's email. The user only can login after he receives that email from our system. This is to make sure the email he keys in is valid.

I have one asp page in which i ask the user to enter the path. This then transfers the control to next asp page. In the next page i want to check whether the path is valid or not. I know there are methods of FileSystemObject like DriveExists, FolderExists and FileExists but these has to be used individually.
Suppose the user enters the path as "D:" then i should use DriveExists
and if the user enter the path as "D:/test" the i should use FolderExists
i.e i have to use individual functions. How to check this using one function only
Another problem is that i want to display the message on the page for some seconds and then the control should transfer to next page. How do i go about it.

Set objHTTP = Server.CreateObject ("Microsoft.XMLHTTP")
objHTTP.open "GET", strURL, False
objHTTP.send
sHTML=objHTTP.statusText
if err or sHTML<>"OK" Then

Say I retrieve and e-mail adress from a form like this, then I know how to check that it's not empty, contain numbers etc. but I don't know how to check that the e-mail complies with some kind of regular expression or the like.
Therefore I wonder if you have any good e-mail form validation code that can be used on the server side (comparable to Java Script reg.exp on the client side).
<%
Dim mail
mail = request.form("email")
IF mail = "" or mail does not complain with some kind of reg. exp THEN
some code....
End IF

Ok.. I have a form the user fills out. An email is sent to them and one to our office with a link to the DB so they can view all the info. My form works fine, my emails work fine. The info gets inserted in to the DB fine.
What I would like to do is:
When the link is sent to our office, I would like it so when they click the link it opens the DB right to the info from the link. You know, like when you get an email from here saying someone posted your link has it set so when you click it, it will go right to that post.
So there you have it, any takers.. I sure could use this, otherwise they open the DB and have to search for the info and they do not like having to do much work..

Im running a simple mail system program which emails newsletters to a database list of 3000+ users.
The program loops through a database containing the emails and sends them out using ASPEmail.
My question is, is there some way i can validate each email address so that if there are invalid characters e.g. the space in "blah @blah.com"
it will skip the record and continue the loop.
At the moment i have a working program however, whenever the program comes across an invalid email address it stops at that record and prevents the program from emailing any further.

here is the script i use:
Set myMail=server.CreateObject("CDO.Message")
myMail.Subject="subject"
myMail.From="me"
myMail.To=request.form("email")
myMail.TextBody="hello"
myMail.Send
set myMail=nothing
this script sends emails to some addresses but not others--and its based on the email service it's sending to. for instance, hotmail email addresses get the email, but mail.com email addresses dont get the email. i have tried sending it to other email hosts, too, and still, some work, some don't. what is going on here?

Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum and appreciate anyone's help who knows how to do this. I use ASP to mainly handle email forms. I have code that validates the email format, making sure the @ and . are in the right place, but there is a frequent problem with people submitting their email address on my forms that seem to think their email address begins with "www." (ex: www.bob112020@aol.com), which leads inevitably to bad emails in our list.
Anyone know how to automatically remove "www." from a form text field when it is found?

I am using CDONTS component to send email in ASP.
The code is some thing like this:
Dim Mail
Set Mail = Server.CreateObject("CDONTS.Newmail")
mail.From = "abc@hotmail.com"
mail.to = "xyz@hotmail.com"
mail.subject = "Test Email Subject"
mail.body = "This is Email body message"
mail.send
Now the question is that this code will use the Default Virtual SMTP Server in IIS, but I want to use my ISP's SMTP server. please tell me how to do this. I have used my ISP's email server in Outlook express and it is working fine. Please do not suggest to use "CDO" or "CDOSYS" to use for sending emails because I must have to use "CDONTS".

I have a database with two tables:
Table 1: Human
Table 2: Exempt
I have created the following code for creating a record, which works fine. But what I would like to do is to check if I add a record on the "Human" table to verify if the record number already exists on the "Exempt" table. I have already created an error handler for it to check if it exists within the same table which works fine. But I can get to do the rest. I created a separate file where I created two functions, but I don't think I did it right. Code:

Using INSERT INTO, I create a new table line. Using UPDATE, I get an error on the inital creation of the table line.I am really unsure how to check to see if that line exists or if there is an easier way around this.

has anyone got a function or subroutine which will remove blank out or remove email addresses.
i've wrote a function which will remove valid email addresses, it's pseudo addresses such as "blah @ blah.com" or "blah_at_blah_dot_com" or "blah_at_blah_._com"
the function is basically to stop users posting an email address in a message.

I have a server using a webapp built on classic ASP, and I use a library that creates/manipulates a datagrid-style display on the page.
I am displaying a large chart with sufficient data that it will likely be paged, and there are several columns that are toggles (using checkboxes for these, with the entire column having the same checkbox NAME, but different values depending on the record).
I have a piece of script that for loops through the records present on the page (determined by a collection of hidden form values), and then I need to check if the collection formed by a given column contains that value, something like the following (pseudo-code):

I've created an com+ application for sending emails with multiple attachments.The component looks like this:
Public Function SendMail3(toAddr, whoAddr, docSubj, docMsg, ByVal docType As Integer, Optional cc = "", Optional bcc = "", Optional sFolder = "", Optional user = "")
On Error GoTo MailErr
Set oFlds = oConf.Fields

oFlds(cdoSMTPServer) = SMTPSrvr
oFlds(cdoSMTPServerPort) = SMTPPrt
oFlds(cdoSMTPAuthenticate) = cdoBasic
oFlds.Update
Set oMail = New CDO.Message
oMail.From = whoAddr
oMail.To = toAddr
If (cc <> "") Then
oMail.cc = cc
If (bcc <> "") Then
oMail.bcc = bcc
If oFSO.FolderExists(sFolder) Then
Set oFolder = oFSO.GetFolder(sFolder)
For Each oFile In oFolder.Files
If InStr(oFile.Name, "_" & user) > 0 Then
oMail.AddAttachment oFile.Path
FileSize = Format((FileLen(oFile) / 1024) / 1024)
SumSize = SumSize + FileSize
oFSO.DeleteFile (oFile)
End If
Next
End If
End If
End If
If ((docType Mod 2) = 0) Then
oMail.TextBody = docMsg
Else:
oMail.HTMLBody = docMsg
End If
If (SumSize > 10) Then
ErrorStrMail = "Attachment size too large!"
GoTo MailFlee
End If
oMail.Subject = docSubj
Set oMail.Configuration = oConf
oMail.Send
MailFlee:
Exit Function
MailErr:
ErrorStrMail = Err.Number & ":" & Err.Description
Resume MailFlee
End Function
When I call this component from an asp page,I don't get any error,but the mail doesn't work.....did I do something wrong?
