Automatically Posting Form Values When A Page Loads
is there a way in ASP to automatically submit a form and its values when a page loads ?
if not is there any way round this scenario. i want to have a drop down list of options depending on which is selected will depend on where the form is submitted to.
I've encountered is in a UTF-8 test script. Here, the input - a single two-byte Cyrillic character (as reported by Javascript in the originating form) is posted to the receiving script, where IIS or IE has expanded that to a 4-byte field. -- while the display of that character is correct. What encoding is the latter?
have one form on an html page post to another form on the same page? I would like to have the information (all of the second form) hidden until the post is sent to it. Is that possible too?
I have seen a few articles with a javascript example but it is not working for me. The server side code is processed first and then the javascript so I basically get my page loading splash screen displayed for a split second and then my page I am navigating to.
How do I display the "Please Wait..." before the server side code kicks in ...
I've got an asp page which scans a range of IP addresses and printes the response to screen.
I've tried loads of methods and ended up with using javascript innerHTML to try and fill the content
What I'd like is the value to return instantly rather than wait until the routine has completed and return ALL the results.
if i'm pinging a big range of addresses the page usually times out...... I thought if I could build the page dynamically, one result at a time, the timeout error wouldn't happen - and users would see that something is actually happening!!! Code:
I'm running win 2000, I downloaded a calender and put it into my root website folder. the calendar folder contained a file called adovbs.inc . After the insertion of this folder and creating links to it we noticed that when the web page loaded it's home page, another older page that has been deleted is displayed.
This page was located in the calendar folder. So now I've deleted the calendar folder, and restarted the server but this old page is still on display.
It all seems to work well, but takes a large amount of time for the entire page to load, I guess due to the amount of records that get displayed, or maybe its the repeat region. So, Is there anything I can do in my asp code to speed these things up. Code:
i need to get the values from the stored procedure below, basically the Name, Description, and is Active values and display them in two textboxes and a checkbox. How can i do this? Or can it be done with this stored procedure? I havent been able to find any good examples on the web... Code:
I am currently writing an online registration system for my work. When I collect data from users I ask them to submit there first and last names on different fields.
When I try to pass them as a value to our Verisign account it concatenates the names to look like this
JohnSmith JaneRoe
I would Like them to look like this
John Smith Jane Roe
Here is the line of code I use in my form. I am not sure how to put a space in between the values.
I received the following bit of code from a friend in need of help. I've done all I can do so far and need assistance with the rest. This code is supposed to get a web page and grab the necessary info from it so it can be used. After the page is grabbed I need to grab the values of 3 "hidden" input fields in a form.
The fields look like this: <INPUT TYPE="HIDDEN" NAME="VARIABLE1" VALUE="CD5E56C4E89CFBE470D8B098C6897BABB6C037FD784765B0"> <INPUT TYPE="HIDDEN" NAME="VARIABLE2" VALUE="CD5E56C4E89CFBE4B1B8B011899A4B44CCC7B734481F19ED67745C61F9EF16D0"> <INPUT TYPE="HIDDEN" NAME="VARIABLE3" VALUE="D8F1A38F99B9320B">
The code I have looks like this. I need help getting started on how to search thru the retrieved web page to get the above values.
If someone knows of better code than what I have so far please feel free to enlighten me with it. Code:
I'm trying to setup something that adds/edits records to an access db using vbscript.
I've got an html form with text, select and textarea inputs.
These values get passed to an asp page that UPDATES the record (not INSERT because it's actually appending to an existing record). Because this page is also an EDIT page, I SELECT all the values so as to:
1) display the current value for editing
2) make sure if they're not edited the value is not null when submitted
My questions:
It's no problem populating the values of form "text" inputs, but how do I do the same for
a) the "select" inputs (Make the proper value SELECTED)? and b) the textarea input?
ie. The user goes to the page for the first time and there aren't any values yet. They use the various form inputs to add values. When they come back to edit the same record I need to display current values of all form fields properly. Code:
I have a check box and I need to automatically select certain values from the avaialable selection in drop down lists when the tick box is selected. So check box is selected and then drop1 = blah1 and drop2= blah2.
Would somebody have an example i can work on a bit, I am not sure if JavaScript is the best way of handling this, not very good with making anything work automatically.
how to create an array of checkboxes that were selected from a form on one page and pass them into hidden fields in a form on the next page? I have this massive project I've been working on and am having trouble with this.
i have setup a form on a normal http page which collects name address etc and is then passed to a https page to collect credit card details, on clicking submit on the https page the credit card details are inserted in db on secure server along with one field that was passed from the http page (the user id).
this all works ok, however i then need to pass the remaining orignal form values back to another http page that then inserts these values to another DB. ok you may be asking why.... the first forms allows the user to correct information already held on file before upgrading their listing, i then need them to pay for the upgrade before inserting the amended data in the orignal database... How..
if i have a vbscript function on a certain form and I assigned some values on an array variable on that function, is there a way for me to retrieve the values of that array on another asp page once i submitted the form?
how do i pass form values through a redirect statement to another page. I have a redirect stt. Response.Redirect "exist.asp" and i want to pass form values to be displayed from exist.asp.
I have a form I am validating on a page. Currently I have the page call itself to check the form values for validity. I want to use the form post method to send the form values to the Update page but can't because I am using the "Response.Redirect" which doesn't post the form values to the next page.
What is a good way to validate a form values then direct it to an update page if values are valid. Should I use Client-Side or Server-side script?
My employer uses an onjline application for new hires. Currently they fill out a form which goes to ../cgi-bin/formail.pl Of course this then email the application to them. Once they recieve it it looks fine but when the go to print they say it prints 4 or 5 pages of garbly gook. I havent seen this yet but i was thinking that if i could post the form to two seperat files, the fromail.pl and an asp page to insert it into an access table to later view with another asp page they could view the apps online and just print form explorer if i designed the page right i have never done anythig with pearl before. Can I post it to an asp page then to the formail.pl. instead of posting it to two pages.
I have created a form, which has hidden fields, which are to be passed to a payment gateway using the POST method.
My problem is that the variables in the hidden fields do not get passed on to the payment page when the form gets posted. The payment page comes up empty.
Posting variables from an HTML FORM, via the Request.Form function on the receiving ASP page is great. But how can you POST a Form variable to an ASP page -- without a human pushing a Submit button? An ASP page that can decide when to POST and send the Form vaiables, but out without a human in the loop.p.s. the reason I do not want to use a Request.Querysting is because I do not want the user to see the values at the tail-end of the URL (?x=private).
I have a web page, where users fill out their name and address, and I send them a free catalog.
The problem is that someone is filling my form out about 100 times a day throughout the day with peoples information, who don't want the catalog!
I have tracked the ip address (all different) and the http referrer, which doesn't really tell me much. and looked in the iis logs, which lists the ipaddresses.
I am trying to post the results of one form to another target .asp page - I do not know how to write the code. I have ran through tutorials etc., and my ISS 5 documentation - basically this is what I am coming up with. Please confirm if this is correct code used on the target page - the page that rcieves the form results.
I'm running an asp script as a background request, which doesn't allow javascript. I need to have this script call another via post. I was using javascript before, to automatically submit the form, but then we found out that it doesn't work because of the way we're calling the script, so we need another method.
My main goal is to send information to another script via POST. Can anyone help me with this?
When I post a string containing special characters (& #145, & #146, & #147, etc. for single and double quotes -- spaces added so they display correctly) through a form and write the contents on the next page via Request.Form, my special characters have been replaced with the characters they represent. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening, and more importantly, how to avoid it?
I am trying to post a large XML string to another url. I have been doing this previously in cold fusion but am trying to get all of my code up to date and it wont work in ASP. It should be very simple:
set xmlHttp = Server.CreateObject("MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP") xmlHttp.Open "POST", pingUrl, False xmlhttp.setRequestHeader "Content-Type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded" xmlHttp.Send xml
This should just be URLEncoding the xml document and posting it. I am getting a "Bad XML" response - line 0, position 0 -- but I KNOW the xml string is well formed -- have already tested that. The guy on that end who was trying to help me stated that the string MUST be in a form field named "xml" (all lowercase) and it has to be a post -- that's it! Isn't that what I am doing? I even tried adding to the end of the URL:
When a visitor enters the basket section of my ecommerce application he has to press on a button “click to view basket”. The submit button posts the users IP address back to the form. Below is the code:
I have tried to automate the submit function by placing the following code into the body of the web page:
<BODY onLoad="window.document.postform.submit()">
This works, in that the records in the basket are displayed automatically without clicking on the submit button however the screen starts going berserk and the form keeps posting to itself i.e. the “ProducsTotalBasket.asp” page mentioned above. It simply won’t stop & keeps looping and posting over and over again.
I've created a form that posts data to a script and the script checks the values. If the values are invalid, I want to be able to "post" the data back to the original page for them to be picked up. Is this possible?
I can't use JavaScript for client-side validation as the data to be compared against is in a database. I don't want to use session variables as they are server intensive and can expire. And I can't send the variables through the URL as some of the fields are textareas and could hold long values...
