View RepliesI am running win2k3, iis6, access db's, for a web app. The
problem is that asp stops working randomly. No errors in
IIS log, no errors in even viewer. It just stops serving
asp. Restarting IIS clears up the problem. This occured
under win2k but maybe once a month. Not that I switched to
win2k3, it happens 4-5 times a day. Any ideas? What would
be the difference?
I am working on a project using classic ASP. Every time I install Windows and IIS, it works for 2-3 days and then starts having problems. Specifically, things that have to do with the FileSystemObject stop working.
I have tried Win2k, WinXP, the IISs that go with them, different partitions (fresh install), turning Windows Update Off as well as doing full updates, and cannot find a solution that works for more than 2 or 3 days. Is it a worm? A virus? A windows update glitch? It is driving me crazy. Are others having problems like this recently?
On a heavily visited site, .ASP pages stop being processed/displayed, but .htm files are processed and displayed just fine. IIS appears to be running OK. No errors or logs anywhere to be found. Reboot clears it up, for a few days. Any clues?
View Replies View RelatedI've managed to construct an ASP page that reads JPG file names from a directory, then constructs a page with a table of links to bigger JPG pictures.I have a big problem.
If the page hasn't entirely loaded and I click on one of the links pictures that has loaded, then the original page will stop loading and the new popup page loads instead. I don't want the original page to stop loading. How do I do this?
I have an ASP C# web form that contains a System.Web.UI.WebControls.ListBox.
I would like to set the tabs in this list box so that I can align columns of
data. I can not find a way to get a handle to the control so that I can send
a LB_SETTABSTOPS message. If there is another way to set the tabs, I haven't
been able to find it.
I need to get the full URL of the current page in ASP. When using Request.ServerVariables("URL") anything after the filename (such as a #section1 to jump to an area on the page or data submitted from a form using the GET method) is automatically removed. I do not know of any keys for the Request.ServerVariables collection that do this, but cannot find any other objects/properties that would be appropriate.
View Replies View RelatedI'm dynamically building an SQL string to do an execute, and keep ending up with a leftover comma, so the string looks like this.
INSERT INTO Software ( Title, Version, Licensing, Total_Licenses, support_phone, support_email, Campuses_Licensed, Comments, support_web, FundingSource, Course_title, Subject, Grade_level, LocalExpert, ACTIVE, CATE, EntryDate,) VALUES ( 'Bob's Super Crappy Software', '4.3', 'labpack', '36', '555', '555', 'Alexander, Bilhartz, Central, Fairmeadows, Hyman, Daniel', 'James is testing this', 'www.bob.com', 'Campus PO', 'Math', 'Math', '4, 5, 6', 'Patrick Williams', '1', '0',)
Both commas are added dynamically and can be trimmed on the fly. I tried using RTRIM(strSQL, ",") but this didn't work.I put the fields into an array and tried to add only commas to all but the last entry, but that also didn't work.
I have a query that displays values from a db.
The problem is that the value displays like this:
R 6.5
instead of like this:
R 6.50
How would I get it to show the full value?
How is the best way to handle commas in data in CSV files? I'm currently using the following:
set fso = createobject("scripting.filesystemobject")
set act = fso.opentextfile(server.mappath("filename.csv"))
itext = act.readall
arrlist = split(itext,chr(10))
and then looping through the rows and splitting at commas. However, some of the data has commas in it, which is throwing things off.
4 months into the land of ASP and I still have newb questions.I have a simple string.
centertype = Type1 & Type2 & Type3 & Type4 & Type5
How do I add a comma to seperate this string? Keep in mind that some of the values may be blank.
i.e. Type1 = ""
or Type4 = ""
I need to create a string along the lines of "23,43,78,23" with no comma at the beginning or end of it. The data comes out of a table so i've created a loop to get the data and form the string :
StrRecip = "," & objRS("number") & StrRecip
This will give me something like : ",42,78,67,2,90"
And then I've removed the leading comma :
StrRecipRem = replace(StrRecip, ",", "", 1, 1)
Is there actually a better way ?
Just curious: is there a bit of ASP code you can place in the top of a document that will force all root relative image and file paths in the HTML of this doc to expand to include the full URL?
I doubt it, but before I did it manually, I thought I'd ask. We use a template of sorts, but need one document to use the full URL, and it would better to just have it that way in the one document and not the entire template.
Using ASP/VB I need to remove unwanted commas from the end of a field
that will be use in an array. There are items in the field that are
comma separated, so I don't want to remove them, just the end ones,
could be anywhere up to 5 unwanted commas.
Any ideas?
I'm using Windows Integrated Authentication on my company intranet ASP web
site (IIS6 W2K3).
I would like to know how could I get the full Active Directory domain name
from the Logon_User variable.
I always get the netbios name of the domain, but I need the full domain name
to be able to distinguish users (because actually there is two companies on
the intranet having their AD forest linked, but also having some subdomains
with identical netbios name !).
I mean, for instance for a user login "theuser" coming from the domain is
"thedomain.thecompany.com", I need to get in Logon_User environement variable
the following content: "thedomain.thecompany.com heuser"
At the moment I only get "thedomain heuser", excepted if I switch to basic
authentication, that I don't want.
I am not sure that asp is a right place for that question, so gurus will move it to proper section. But as soon as I display images using aspupload the solution probably will be also in asp. I do not have problem to show them on asp page, so it is not a problem of aspupload. Its just a general asp question:
Do you know any techniques how to display full screen images without using popup window?
I would like image to take all the full screen without any browser menues or explorer menu bars. Something like you see when screensaver turn on.
I'm importing data from a csv file but have the following problem.
It see any comma in a specific column as the end of the current column and move the rest of the values into the next column I.E Data from column 4 display as data from column 5.
I do know that it's comma delimited but would like to know if there's no way that I can distinguish between the commas in a column and the commas that indicate a new column.
Col1 Col2 Col3 Col4 Col5
Value Value Value Val,ue Value
How do they do it in excel?
i have a string and i would like to run through this string to find a "."(fullstop), and once found put a break in so that i could continue the rest of the string on the next line.
I don't know if anyone has encountered this before. I've written ASP code to insert, update and delete records from Access and SQL Server tables before but this is the first time I face this issue -
I have a form that inserts data into an Access table. For a few of the fields, commas are getting inserted into the table. If the field is left blank, there is a comma inserted. If we enter data in the field, the comma is appended to the field value (eg: smith, )
The only thing different that i'm doing here from what I've done before is I'm inserting a larger number of fields into the table - 117 fields!!
Do you think the insert statement hasn't been written correctly?
if there is a way to do a text search through pdf documents?
If there is, can someone show me how, or at least point me in the direction of a good tutorial?
I have a text file that is called up in an ASP page. The text file is the content of a table that is built into the ASP page. My question is if the text file does not have anything in it or is equal to a certain value like "No Updates Available" how can I tell the ASP page not to display the table at all?
I figure it will be using some form of FileSystemObject. I just don't know how to do it.
I have developed a website with ASP.NET Jscript. Im fairly new to development so i used DreamweaverMX and Webmatrix which was very useful. Now I want to enhance it further by adding a search facility into my website and thus providing users to actually find contents within my webpages and display the same.

I cannot use the cutshort feature because my part numbers are different lengths.

View Replies View Relatedhow to avoid an error when calling data to a text form field that contains inverted commas? When I enter "inverted commas" into a text field on a form and save to my Access database, after save the text field appears to be blank but when I look in the database it appears as entered. The problem is when the text field calls the field it doesn't show if the text is encased in inverted commas.
For instance, in my form field 'title' I enter: Big Title "Yeah" After saving the form, all that appears within the form field 'title' is: Big Title Yet the access database itself shows: Big Title "Yeah"
I have an Access database driven website using ASP in IIS 6. On my website, I have a discussion forum, I wonder how can I add a full text indexing feature into my forum. So for example, when someone wants to search the word "fish" in the forum. All threads that contains the word "fish" should popup as the search result.
