I need to modify some code written by someone else that sends out an automated email based on a form submittal. In the form, values are set to 1 or 0 for "yes" or "no". I need to modify it so that the email changes the 1 or 0 to their text equivalents (yes/no).
I CANNOT modify the form itself to change the variables, so i assume i need an IF stmt to that converts the string to text before it sends. Can someone point me in the right direction for how to do this?
I need to insert some number into database as text. My problem is if I insert the number (ie. 4.0), the value in the database only show (4). So, is it possible to convert a real number into text number using ASP?
I am making a check writing page and was wondering how to convert a variable in the form of $1234.56 to One Thousand Two Hundred Thirty Four Dollars and Fifty Six Cents (Or something like that).
I'm reading through a txt file and using split to create an array of values. I need to convert one element in the resulting array from a string to a number.
However, none of the conversion functions such as CInt, CSng, Val work. I consistently receive a 'type mismatch' error.
Ok I am reading a text file (LOG) the time is extracted from the text file and looks like this 07:56:11 with no spaces on either end.
My problem is that the format is not time (when writtern to a varible) so I cannot write it to a table field with a time format. How do I covert the above number into time.
I have a client that originally wanted me to develop their webapp using PHP and MySql.
It now looks like I have to use ASP/MsSql to do the job.
They need to search for words in ms word documents that are to be uploaded to the server. In the PHP environment I could use a PHP class to extract the text from the word document and then put the extracted text in a database field to make it searchable (fulltext index etc). All doable from within one PHP script.
I have looked around the web to find some similar to use with ASP but with no luck.
What I want to do is this: User uploads a .doc document to the web-server. The ASP script should then be able to extract the text from that word document so I can put the text in a db field to enable fast search for matching documents.
Is this doable from within ASP script? Is there any third-party solutions available out there?
I am trying to compare a variable with a db plain text field as follows: access db has field named HFRNUM as text .... ex: 12182003-A
I create a variable in vb as follows: Dim hfr_today HFR_Today = (Month(DATE)) & (DAY(DATE)) & (YEAR(DATE)) & "-A"
Unfortuantely, I think the HFR_Today var is not text and when I look for a record that is LIKE or = the var, it returns blank.
I display my variable and see 12182003-A, yet it does not find the record that matches (except data type perhaps?) Is my variable of a different data type, and if so, how can I make it plain text?
I need to get text posted from a webpage to a image. The text needs to be displayed with fonts that I can't use in a webpage. This is to be used submitting textadds from the web, later to be published in a newspaper.
The image it self will not be published, I need it to calculate the price for the add. There for I need it with the fonts used in the newspaper. Don't now if this is the right group.
I wish to convert the message received in the text box to be replaced by the label with the same message as in the text box, After upload button is clicked this action should be carried on.
So the data in the text box is stored to the database after the button is clicked and also the textbox is converted to label with message in the text box.
Im working on a number to text conversion in ASP, just like this : 456 = four hundred fifty six. If you have any cool function, In case you don't, how can I analyze the caracters of a number one by one, and know how much caracters a string has? Ej = "1234" has 4 caracters
i have several fields in the database that the format is number. then, i have a report page that allow user to open it the ms excel. my problem is, when all data transfered to ms excel, all data that is in number format, they are located at the right of the cells and there is 1 data named noIC, suppose this data is a 12 digits number but in the ms excel, it became something like this 780945+E12....
to solve this problem, i have to change the cell's format everytime all data have been transferred to ms excel. i have to set to left indent for all fields that contain numbers and for the noIC i have to set from General to Number.
I have a text field in a web page I am working on that seems to be calculating phone numbers before inserting them into an Access database. i.e., 867-5309 will result as -4442 in the Access text field. My guess is that the webserver or client is processing it before inserting it. Is there any way to stop this other than using a validation script?
in master batch table i have various master batch like 200701-0001 200701-0002 200701-0003
Now each master batch can have multiple final mixed batch like
200701-0001-01 200701-0001-02 200701-0001-03
and this record is inserted in to fmix table.
so i have a form in which i have a dropdown menu in which all the master batch is listed, i select 200701-0001 and that value is passed to next page where i will enter other fields data and insertion to my fmix_no will be done automatic like 200701-0001-01, 200701-0001-02 and so on,
how to achieve this
so in short each master batch will have more than one final mixed batch.

When using ASP's FileSystemObject to create text files, I am unable to get user submitted text (in Hebrew) to save as anything other than "?????". The text file is being saved in Unicode and setting the CodePage in ASP proved unsuccessful. Strangely, hard coded Hebrew text in an ASP variable does add to the text file correctly.
Any ideas of why this happens and how to get it to work correctly?

I have inherited an ASP application that used MS SQL 7 for a backend DB.The original developer did an excellent job of commenting his work and the applications works fine as is. However, due to licnsing costs, the company is considering moving the application backend to MySQL.
I have looked at the DB structure and it has nothing extreneous other than FOREIGN KEYS. I have heard that MySQL does not support FOREIGN KEYS or Stored procedures. How do I get around the FOREIGN KEY support issue in MySQL?Other than changing my connection strings, if and when I do get the DB end working,do I need to redo the codes?I would like to keep the codes as is and simply redo the interface. In general what should I expect?
The Application was at the initial stages when the company changed course,so they don't mind losing what little data they have in the existing MS SQL 7 db,BUT the table structure must be kept as designed in MS SQL.
I have this one short section of code that I need to convert to ASP. Currently it's in PHP and our server does not support that. this code would be used to get someone's email address for a newsletter. Here is the code: PHP Code:
<?php $var = ', '.$_GET['var'];
$fp = @fopen("file.txt", "a") or die("Couldn't open file.txt for writing! ". $var ); $numBytes = @fwrite($fp, $var) or die("Couldn't write values to file! " .$var );
