I have a web interface where I can upload images. I have two tables, one table holds thumbnail images and the other table holds the full scale version of the thumbnail image. So, in my web application, I have one form that uploads the thumbnail image and inserts all the relevant information into the thumbnail images table.
I have another form that uploads the larger image and inserts all the relevant information into the table that holds the information for full scale version of the image. The problem is how can I relate the thumbnail image to the corresponding full scale image?
I have to insert the thumbnails and larger images in the same sequence so they have the same id numbers. I'm trying to find a way to upload the images in any order and still have the correct relationship between the images.
I have big issue over here....and i seeking help from u all.....well u see I have 2 asp(dreamweaver mx) pages with contained insert data server behaveiour....the problem is the database which connected to these 2 asp pages is contained 2 table which is link relationship....so when try to insert data to the secondary form it came out wit an error stated cannot update or insert data to the table because of contained relationship
I need some help optimising my object design. Since one article has 1+ authors, I assume the logical way to represent this is for my Article object to have a Authors property, of type "array", capable of representing any number of authors.
The code I have written (below) works, but is very inefficient; if I want the asp page to fetch a list of 30 authors using GetAuthors(30), there will be a total of *31* calls to the database - one call in GetArticles(), and one call to GetAuthors() for EACH article! Code:
I want to display a kind of two-tier one-to-many relationship, for which, in the olden days, I would have used a series of nested loops and multiple calls to the db. Code:
(I include a bmp file to make sure u all understand what my problem is)..as U all can see from the bmp I supply with this message.. I got 2 Table which is Master and Child table...the problem is I kindda want to make it like a Parent Child Relationship like In ms Access.
I have just started using ASP, I am normaly using PHP but I thought ASP might be a good road to go down. I am having a few problems, I am trying to limit the number of records I take out the database but I keep getting errors.
I had made a form name 'dform.html' which asks idno, name and phone from the user and after the user clicks on button "save data" sdata.asp is executed. sdata.asp is written to save the values entered for idno,name and phone in dform.html into table "myfriends" in the mydata.mdb (access database). but when i am clicking on save data button i am getting error saying
"Error Type:
Microsoft JET Database Engine (0x80040E09) Cannot update. Database or object is read-only. /SDATA.ASP, line 9"
can please anyone tell me why i am getting this error.
I work with ASP for several weeks now and i really like it! But until now i have just used it in connection with my localhost. I made connections to a SQL Database and to an ACESS Database with using the ODBC Tool from WIndows!!
Now i want to publish my website but i don't know how to handle the connection string kind of thing. My MySQL-Database is on a different server than the website and i need a connection string where i can type in the server, a password and a username and it should then connect.
I'm current working on a project which need to upload local data to live server database.

With regardst the above many-to-many relationship:
Is there any advantage in creating seperate access databases for:
- Customer - Products
....Rather than keeping them as three tables in one database.
The reason I ask is that I have found that if I am using a ftp approach to overwriting or updating the remote database there are sometimes problems with synchronizing data .....This seems to be a better solution?
does any one know a simple free database driven website tutorial that i could learn? i need it for when someone searches a name ionformation on that name comes up along with photographs realating to them.
I have built several websites before but none are database driven so is there any dummy proof versions?
I have a Access DB with two tables (Users and tblpersons). Users are stored in table Users and their records in tblpersons. They are able to login, Enter, Search, Update their data.
I want users to be able to Enter and update only their data not other users data.
Example:User_Id 1 when logged in, is able to enter data for any user(1,2,3......) and able to modify their data.
I can make a simple database file and name it database.mdb, all I need to do is name a single field email and save it. But I dont know how to make it so that my page will become active and the emails submitted will be saved either to the mdb file or a text file, im not sure what goes on there.
They are on Windows 2000 IIS 5.0 and currently have an older version of their job database using Access hosted on a Brinkster server. The new server that they are on, when I contacted the host, they advised me against creating any new applications using Access, as the server is not meant for multi-users. So, I am thinking that they need to get their host to upgrade to a SQL database and have the job database developed using that. My question to this forum is: What do you think is the best combination for improvement here, SQL or MySQL or what, considering that their site is using asp and hosted on Win2000 IIS 5.0? Also, any recommendations on scripts that might be already available that could be customised to their site?
What we have is our own (in house) Windows 2000 Server which runs MS SQL for our data storage and we have writen our own VB6.0 Application which runs of the SQL DB to manange our stock, ordering, price's etc etc. Also we have our own Website with a Web Hosting Company which is also a Windows 2000 Server but can only Run access databases. What we what to do is somehow have the Access database and the SQL database sync together to have some of the same data in both database's. But I don't know where to start.
I have the following code to execute a SQL query.Code:
SQL = "INSERT INTO teams (`teama`, `teamb`, `pot`, `winner`, `finished`, `start`) VALUES ('" & teama & "', '" & teamb & "', 0, '', False, '" & gdate & "')" teamrs.Open SQL, conn all works fine. I just want to know what result it gives.because once i add it, the form submits, and its a blank page. I want it so it does this Code:
if sql = worked redirect else error end if so how can i make sure the query was executed successfully.
This is probably a stupid question (I'm good at those)... I would like to enable a user to be able to browse to a picture on their local machine and upload that picture to a remote directory where it can then be displayed along with it's other pertinent data. I thought it might be a good idea to use Front Page's "file upload" feature which includes a "browse" button and prompts me for a storing location - but I can't get it to work and am not even sure if that's its intended purpose. So my question is two-part, what should my insert or update page look like regarding an upload process, and then how would I link to or display that picture?
I have some questions in a database, i showed in the web page, for each questions i gave 3 (Yes, No, Not Applicable) options via select - option. when i get the variable with select name, it is showing with comma.
Example : If they select for like that
Ist question - Yes
IInd question - No
IIIrd question - Yes
IVth question - Not applicable
The variable is coming like (Yes, No, Yes, Not applicable)
I have a form that is inserting data to an access database i have it working, but when ever a user enters a name with a special character eg Tom O'Conor i get an error due to the ' character, is there anyway of over coming this problem.
i have this code that is supposed to help me out in some databse retrieval issue. however i am not aware of the dsn-less code and stuff: <% var rs = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset"); rs.Open("select * from states","DSN=IST_SQL;UID=....;pwd=....");
var n=0; while (!rs.EOF) { ... } rs.Close(); %>
i think the following is also to be included in the above code, but i am not sure of the whole connection thing.
Well Im finally getting how to do asp but I cannot seem to find where I import ms sql .sql files? I know in phpmyadmin there is a place to upload them but not anywhere in ms sql admin. Anyone know how to do this?
I just wanna know if I got a asp page in a location A and wanna connect to the SQL database in a server with IP address 144.214.87.11 through the Internet,then how can I configure in the SQL Server 2000?
I made a script that'll add a lot of data to an access database. Something went wrong during the execution of it, and i was stuck with the mdb file and the idb file. I've tried deleting both, or either, but neither will delete. I've also tried using sql DELETE and DROP, but neither will do anythying. Any way i can delete these files?
I made a database in MS Access and two ASP pages, one with a drop-down box with some options in it and the other one which then shows more data from the database about the chosen option. All of this worked perfectly on my pc but when I uploaded all of this to the server all I get on my website is an empty drop-down box. It seems that my page can't read the data from the database. I'm sure that the path to the database is correct. What could be the reason?
I have copied a MS SQL database to my local machine and am testing it with ASP pages, locally, on IIS. I have a db connect page that keeps the current connections for the live database.My question is, as the local db is named 'local,' is there another name I need to give it and thus call from the connection page?Also, when copying a db, are the permissions (username and pass) copied over with it?
I have an xml dataset.I have an html table that data is bound to and where rows of data are "selectable" with a click. I know how to get to the record in the xm dataset that I want. What I can't seem to figure out is how to move the selected row in the table on the screen so that it highlights the record I want.
Once I get that working in a regular table, I need to get it working in a paged table - that is, move to the correct "page" of data and then highlight the correct record.
