i have iis5. windows 2k advance server. I have many http sites on iis. One ftp site with folders protected with userid and password. e.g i have folders at
now if i try to diplay image on asp page as
http://www.mysite.com/displayimages.asp
in displayimages.asp page i give url to images file as
http://www.mysite.com/images/usa/logo.jpg
i was asked to enter userid and password. I mean to say, How can i display images on asp pages from the users, whom have posted images to their ftp folder.
I have a situation which i am sure has arisen previously. But for the life of me i cant figure out how to get this to work.
I have a directory setup like this:
Site1 - www.site1.com Asp - Images - Site2 - www.site2.com Asp - Images -
The problem that i am having is i cant get site 2 to display images from site 1 using the virtual path '../' as this only takes you to the root of site 2 and wont let me out of it.
I have tried to use the full path of http://www.site1.com/Images but this seems to take an a really long time to load the images.
Is it possible to go outside of this root directory using some kind of trick? I dont want to copy the images accross to site 2 either as there are actually hundreds of sites that will be referencing site1's image folder and it is updated regularly.
I was thinking of putting a virtual directory in site1 thatpointed to the image folder in site2 but i couldnt get that to work.
I am working on a book selling website using ASP with an Access DB. Basically i would like to have an image of each book in the DB to be displayed upon request in the website. So I guess what i would really like to know is
1. Can i store .jpg or .gif files in an Access DB? 2. Does it make sense to do this? 3. Would it be better to have some kind of pointer in the DB to a place in the file system where the image is stored? .......
I am trying to upload large images ( around 4 mb) from the server to show on the client. Currently I'm using an http handler to do it and breaking it into chunks sending it 1 mb at a time. Sometimes I'm getting errors, like the page won't load. Any solutions on how this is done right?
I am trying to retrieve images from the database and display them in a random order. The order of the images is supposed to change each time page is refreshed. Below is my code, I am using an array to store the images but the images are not displayed for some reason. Code:
In the site we want to display the vehicle (obviously) and then a list (graphically) of the features that vehicle has, ie, air con, electric windows, abs, etc. I have attached examples of the images that should be displayed.
The images are kept in a separate folder on the website and they are 'called for' from an access database where the filed name (image id) has a check box.Currently we are only getting a TRUE response and the image is not being displayed. We are looking for some help in how to develop this and get only the image displayed if the check box is ticked on the database.
anyone know of an application that integrates with Dreamweaver to allow me to work with blob images from a SQL database and put them in an ASP.NET page?
I am creating a form with checkboxes that contains in the value property, the ID of the image. The filename of the image displayed above the checkbox along with the image.
On that page, I am storing the "checked" information in a cookie. When the user clicks submit, I need to retrieve the actual image that they selected on the previous page and display it along with the image name which I get from the value property.
Right now the only data being passed is the value in the checkbox input tage which is a text string and not the actual image. How do I retrieve the images my users checks off. I hope this make sense. Sort of like a shopping cart, but I only want to be able to select images and post back the ones selected.
The idea is security (the companyN folders store images belonging to the companies 1,2,3 - and never the twain shall meet - this does not matter so much). The images are stored above MySite (in the imageroot folder) so that no-one can see them - if they sat in mysiteimages, for example, anyone can see them. And to further thre security, /imageroot does not have a URL
What I need is someway that I can display an image in imageroot on a page in MySite, eg /mysite/gallery.
I need to use an absolute path from my page in mysite to the required image
just manged to get an image retireval search engine working. The ASP script works fine, my query results are filepaths of images.
i structured a query in within asp to obtain images which have similar textual values. It is more of a cosmetic issue. when i get my query results back, my script prints or displays the images from top to bottom. which means i have to scroll vertically up and down the asp page over 10-30 images. Code:
I am trying to retrieve images from the database and display them in a random order. The order of the images is supposed to change each time page is refreshed.
Below is my code, I am using an array to store the images but the images are not displayed for some reason. Any help would be appreciated.

I am trying to build a simple image gallery, that displays image form the files on web server and displays it on webpage.
I tried, but it gives an error:
Quote: Error Type:
Active Server Pages, ASP 0113 (0x80004005)
The maximum amount of time for a script to execute was exceeded. You can change this limit by specifying a new value for the property Server.ScriptTimeout or by changing the value in the IIS administration tools.
I have written a script to update user information in the Active Directory using ADSI. Here is part of it:
Set User = GetObject("LDAP://<GUID=" & GUID & ">")
User.Department = DepartmentName
User.SetInfo
Set User = Nothing
This works fine unless DepartmentName is an empty string ("").
Then I get error 0x8007200B: "The attribute syntax specified to the directory service is invalid." This happens with all the attributes I have tried, including TelephoneNumber . Do I need to delete the value of the attribute instead of setting it to an empty string? If so, how do I do it?
My page have background image,on that image have more images and text. My problem is whenever resize browser that images are not resized and also not moved correct place .(i.e look not like before alignment).I want to do everything in dyanamic....
im brand new to ASP and all but at school they want a webpage and they wont support PHP which is what i know so i need to figure out how to show everything under a directory then if sub folders have them link to that folder
I would like to do something like this: <!--#include file="C:dbutilsdbConfig.asp"-->
Where the directory C:dbutils is OUTSIDE of the web directory and not accessible by a client web browser. The reason I would like to do this is in case somehow ASP processing gets turned off in IIS. Since "dbConfig.asp" contains a username/password for the database, I don't want this file to somehow get sent back to a client browser as plain text. Two questions: 1) is it possible to use an include file that is outside of the web directory? 2) is there even any way that ASP processing can be turned off? perhaps not explicitly, but maybe via malicious code or virus?
Does anyone know if it's possible to convert files to .pdf format through ASP? or better yet, does anyone know of a utility that can take a directory of word documents and form one pdf file with the contents?
I have an Intranet site sitting on an Windows XP server, which has IIS 6.0 installed. This Intranet site contains a virtual directory (VD), which sits on a second server and has Windows 2000 installed.
To test how a virtual directory would work for this particular Intranet site, I had previously set up the VD on the web server. Everything worked well...no errors.
Once testing was complete and the location of the VD changed to the second server, I have been receiving the following error:
Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a004c' Path not found
I understand what this error is saying, but I was wondering if anyone knows of any problems between IIS 6 being on a XP server and the VD on a 2000 server and any possible implications.
Is it possible to read the all filenames from a directory? Basically I want to grab all the filenames from a directory and make a flat file with all the values in it.
I'm trying to create my own browsing window for a directory on my webserver. I can access the root the directory and the first sub-directory but anything lower than that I get "path not found". I'm almost sure the problem is attaching the selected directories names on to the objFSO.GetFolder line.
I used the Mid function to get my selected directories. I can't figure out how to add the selected directories to the objFSO.GetFolder line. Code:
I'm trying to connect to the active directory using asp. I'm having problems with logging in, what happens is the username accepted is not the user logon name but the displayname is accpeted heres the code:
Could anyone show me a sample, snippet, code chunk ... etc of how I can get ASP to find the Active Directory username based on a supplied email address?
For example: I want ASP to query active directory and retrieve the AD username for where user email address = 'whatever@whatever.com'
Here's the challenge though: How do you get your dynamic pages to appear as a directory rather than an asp page with a querystring? I'm fairly certain that there is a workaround to this to be able to have one dynamic asp script that appears in your address bar as a directory.
Is there a way in asp to create a new default web site within IIS I am setting a content managament system and want to create a new default web site during on of the processes. So for example if people create a new site within the admin section and call it Jacinto this will create a new virtual directory called Jacinto.
This would then be accessed at http://localhost/jacinto
I haven't had a close look at the code yet but it's not in asp/vbscript
Has anybody done it in pure asp.I would like to do it on a site hosted by a third party and I am unable to install any dll's or exe's on the machine because it is a shared webserver. Both .NET and Non .NET would be good
I have a virtual directory set up and it's fine. Now what I want to do is write files into them. When I try to do that it gives me a "path not found" error. How can I do this? Is this even possible?
