I need to display multi-paragraph articles from a field in my database, but every time they display, they come up as one long paragraph with no line breaks, even though there are breaks within the database field.
I am using MS Access 2000 with field "data type" set to Memo and MM Dreamweaver UltraDev. What do I have to do to get the line breaks in the appropriate spots?
I have a loads of records in an Access database relating to publications. The publications come in 3 forms, pdf, Word or .htm so I have fields for each called PDFurl, Wordurl and Publink. What I want to do is, if any of those fields contain a value then display an appropriate icon (which will link to the publication).
I'm ok with the latter part but how do I determine if any of the fields have a value and if so display the relevant icon? Rather than do a load of if then statements I was wondering is there a quicker way of doing this, perhaps using a Case?
i need to find out how I can display fields with certain words in differnet parts of a page. For instance records that contain the word "enterprise" should be at the top, records that contain "Integrate" should be in the middle and so on. Unfortunately the records don't just contain those words....the title might be "Receive & Process Oral & Written Communication - Enterprise Skills Cluster". So I'm guessing I need to use some sort of wildcard statement like:
I've run into this problem before and it's related to the order in which you select fields.but only when one is a text field.
Comes down to this,if you have multiple database fields being selected, either write your sql so that the text field is selected last yes, the right-most fieldname in the comma-delimited list OR you can use 'select *' in your queries as long as the text field(s) is/are the last/rightmost field in the table.
I've only run into this bug on ASP/MS Sql so I can't comment on other databases.
This code has worked in the past on this same page, and for some reason it doesn't want to calculate the numbers anymore. Anyone see anything that is out of whack?
Basically I am taking the input numbers for each field and adding them up on one column, then taking the totals of all of those columns and adding it up to display as an overall total. Code:
I'm using an Access database and asp to bring in a series of table contents to textarea fields so if wording wants changing in the database I can do it using an asp form. All works ok apart from a couple of records that are memo fields.
I have displayed the field contents by ..........
<%=(locationwords.Fields.Item("ftexta").Value)%>
and they are shown ok.
If i try and use the same syntax for bringing the memo field in to a textarea nothing is displayed.
I need to be able to retieve variable length (>255 characters) messages which have been saved in a memo field in an access data base on the server. I am using the following code to test this : -
<% set objconn = server.createobject ("ADODB.connection") set objrec = server.createobject ("ADODB.recordset") objconn.open "DSN=daters" strsql = "SELECT DISTINCT messages.* FROM messages WHERE messid = 305 ;" objrec.open strsql, objconn, adopenforwardonly, adlockoptimistic,adcmdtext %>
<%=objrec("text")%>
The message is found and retrieved but truncated to 255 characters as if it were an ACCESS text field not a memo field.
The message which is originally user created on another page, writes in full to the ACCESS memo field. Also, if I download the data, and retrieve the message offline via an ACCESS form, it displays fully. Seems then like an ADO issue in retrieving memo fields Probably my syntax?
I have admins who create reports with titles that my code then creates a field with that title in another databse. The admins also apply permissions to staff whether they can see that report or not.
My problem is my code doesn't know the name of these new fields, is there any way in ASP to interegate the access field names in a record set?
I have an ASP that displays two MS Access memo fields in separate table cells just fine. However when I concatenate them with SQL as in "select fld1 & fld2 as temp...." to display them in one cell only part of the first field is displayed in the table. What is causing this?
I have a commercial database written in access and I'm trying to display some images, jpegs, stored in the DB on web page. My code is as follows:
Response.ContentType = "image/jpeg"
sql = "SELECT PartImage FROM Parts WHERE ShortID='AAPTM01'" Set rs = AMConn.execute(sql) If not rs.eof Then PicSize = rs("PartImage").ActualSize if PicSize > 0 then Response.BinaryWrite rs("PartImage").GetChunk(rs("PartImage").ActualSize) end if End If set rs = nothing
All i get on the page is the image not found icon with the red cross in IE. What could possibly be going on?
i am producing a e-commerce website using ASP. My database is MS access using a database called products. But heres my problem, the database holds the images using a OLE object. But when i come to view the data on the website, i can get the data showing such as price, product id and other information but when i try and view the images from the database on the webpage it comes up all garbled like wildcards.
I know not to store images inside a Db table using the ole method, but I don't know how to call an image to accompany text in a for loop script.I can provide the unfinished script (missing is the coding of the fields: Pic1, Pic2, Pic3, Pic4) for inspection.
I am trying to better a process our dept. now uses. Currently a person updates a Word document throughout the day of of actions items, basically a list of issues with due dates, responsible parties, comments, etc..At the end of the day the file is converted to a PDF and posted on the intranet.
Seems a little stale. Is ASP and a MS access database a good approach to providing real-time reporting to ther client? i.e. a person could push a button labeled "action items" and be returned a printable, decently formatted page?
I've got a really strange problem I can't explain - when I add new values into my database (Access) ir multiplies them by 100 - for example id I enter the values:
10.50 7.50 5.50
They go into the database as:
1050 750 550
The field in Access is a Double type, nullable, and set to default to 0.
My code to add it is: (the response.writes are what product the numbered output above - so I know what the form is posting, and subsequently what the database has in its fields) Code:
I have an Access database set up with a number of text fields and a hyperlink field which references a different image per record. I am trying write ASP code to retrieve allt his data and images onto a web page. I have the data but the images are causing a problem.
I've created a db field with Memo type, and I have stored some text with carriage returns (no html) So the 3 words start on a differnt line. In access this displays correctly ( each word starts on a new line). However when I display these on a web page all the words appear on the same line.
I need the words to be displayed on a seperate line.
I have a drop down list which pulls Names from a column called 'Name' from an SQL Server view.
In this view is another column called 'ref' and each person has their own unique ref no.
I have linked a drop down list to the Name column (so user can pick name from the list) but now after selecting a particular name, I want my page to also display the corresponding ref for that particular name underneath.
The ref can be displayed just as text on the page.
I am calling the values from a table and displaying them in a table, no biggie, i have not used a for loop to create the Html table, rather i have created it myself using a for loop so i can specify the table values i want.
What i am calling from the table is All of the fixtures for the football games in a season but i want to put a seperator or insert a spece of some sort just to seperate the fixtures by date otherwise it just comes out in a long list of fixtures, no nice on the eyes.
here is the code from selecting the data form the table to displaying it:
I have a search option on my website, which should perform a search on 4 fields, as follows:
tblNews headline content
tblDatabank filename description
It only needs to return matches which are an exact match of their search criteria. For instance, searching for "I am here" would return a record which contained "I am here", but not just "I" or "I am" etc.
I need to return all these records as part of one recordset preferably, as I want to be able to order them etc., though I imagine you may suggest I use an array somehow to merge two recordets etc., then reorder them?
I have a Development server that is running Win2k, IIS 5.0, and ASP enabled. I am trying to gain access to an Access 2000 DB located on a file server within my domain. I'm pretty sure I have all the correct permissions set, but I am having problems when trying to access the DB.
The error is similar to:
The Microsoft Jet Database engine cannot open the file '******'. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.
I'm looking for ways to fix this... Microsoft suggests turning off the ability for IIS to sync passwords. Unfortunately, this is not a viable solution for me.
Is it possible to create a new virtual server that is a share to my file server? Put my ASP and MDB file in there and have it work? Anyone have any other ideas?
I have 2 fields in my database. One is startDate one is endDate. I want to display records according the current date. So far I can select all records where the startDate is greater or equal to now by using Code:
SELECT * FROM items WHERE itemDateStart >= now
It seems the BETWEEN claus only accepts value, not fields. So basically I want to select * from items between itemDateStart and itemDateEnd
I have a need to be able to identify which fields within a database are key fields.I did find the Attributes property of the Field object contains information for a field in a recordset. One of those values for the Attributes property is identified as adFldRowId which should identify whether the field is used as a key, but it doesn't seem to work. I'm currently reading off an Access database.Does anyone have any insight in being able to identify key fields within a recordset?
I have set up my database with 4 fields (num1, num2, num3, sum), and have created a form with 3 fields to insert 3 numbers. That part is easy.My problem is when i submit these 3 numbers (5, 7, 6) i want the form/script to add these numbers together and insert it into the 4 field "sum".
I have a database table and I am building a search-like page which is supposed to pull information from the database based on the following. "Get records where field1 is 30% (or more) higher than field2 within a specific time period". Should these records be chosen by the SQL query itself?
Or should I get all the records within the time period using GetRows, and loop through them checking whether or not it fits the criteria? While I certainly feel more capable of the second approach than the first, I am not sure if its the best way when large numbers of rows are involved.
I'm working on a site that inserts records into an Access database and Access assigns an auto-incrementing id for the record. How can I quickly figure out what id that was just created? I seem to remember there being a function for this....
I want to create an order form for prints online... I will have up to 200 prints to be selected. What I am thinking is that I will have an HTML Form that has all the 200 thumbnails with a check box next to them. They select the ones they want and push next. Then I would like it to create a set of options for each one they selected.
That basically says the image name then has a check box for 5x7, 8x10 and a text box for the amount for each... I do I create the page what creates these selections and how to I incorporate that into a mail form going to the next page?... it seems like a simple enough idea. Am wondering how the reality of it will be.
how would you join the two felds from a table in the database so it can show the image from joining the two fields to know wherethe image is coming from Quote: <img src="<%=(rs_lprojects.Fields.Item("image_folder_path").Value)%><%=(rs_lprojects.Fields.Item("image_src1").Value)%>" />
I have been writing out the general steps I want to do in plain english before writing ASP. The values come from a customised data grid (not in .NET) that is generated according to what fields need to be recorded for that record. What I want to try and do is as follows: - Read form fields into input array (skip first three values : savevalues, userid, productcode) - Save last value of every row (add to quantity for extra info) - rest of processing Is the first one even possible using plain ASP? I remember being able to do it using Javascript, but I couldn't get it to work properly. I have tried to use Arrays in ASP before, but without much success.
is there a way to write a insert statment with out typing out all of my field names? i want to do an insert in every field but i don't want to have to write them all out.
