Dynamic Link Breaks When Database Gets Too Large
I have an asp page that returns a table from my database. Only about 6 columns from the table are shown on this page. I have the ID column set up as a dynamic link to a 'details' page, so a user can view the rest of the record data.
My database has been growing rapidly, and now when the page is run i get the error "page cannot be displayed".
I believe this is due to how large my database table is because if i delete records the page works fine, as it did when the system was first running. Right now there are 4600 rows in the database and will be growing.
How do I fix this problem, I cannot get rid of any records.
Oh yea, and if i delete the line of code that contains the link, the page works fine and shows the entire table.

I use a QueryString request function, so when an id is called, that page loads into the current one. This is perfect, however if say the user directly types a link into the url, like index.asp?id=999, then basically the code is flawed, it breaks up.
Secondly if say a page has been erased from the database, and the link still is available, the code is equally flawed, so it would be good to have a page in my id, say id=50 that displays a page with data from the database, explaining that the page you are trying to reach did not exist or no longer exists, because so far, I get a page error:
ADODB.Field (0x800A0BCD)
Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted. Requested operation requires a current record.

I would like to build a dynamic link based upon a value returned from a db
There is data in the db because objRS("Description") returns a value.

I've a large database that I am working with. The problem is right now I've so many sample data in the datbase all the testing data in it. I want to clear the database and reset the AutoNumber so that it starts at 1 and goes up by one.I know that its possible in Access and I've done it before, problem is the tables have relationship and lots of them.
the way I know to rest the AutoNumber require me to break the relationship but it will take very long time for me to rectreate them again and I might not get them same at the end.Is there a way to rest the AutoNumber without having to break the relationship?

I have a dynamic table, with a column named "player" in this column is NBA player names - generated from a statistic database. I am hoping to be able to create a link on the players name that will direct the webuser to a profile page like the following:

I am having trouble becasue the stat page is not by the player name but a numbered ID.
I tried using a player search like follows:

principally I'm a photographer, and in the absence of any image galleries I could make sense of I created my own asp pages in Dreamweaver displaying images from a path stored in a database. These can then be paged through, all done using server behaviours in Dreamweaver. However, because I wanted to include some text next to my images, again a field in the database, I have to scale them down. I would like to give the user the option to see a larger version of the image on display, preferably in a pop-up window that is then closed by the user before they continue scrolling through the images....

after the form has been posted I want to keep the querystring the same and not have it reset, i have this:

I have a web page that lists our group's service activites we are doing thorughout the year. Curently we have abook that we write down what events we were present to but I would like to make it available online to eliminate having to type down all the information in an excel sheet or access database.
I would like to have the page somehow link to an acess database or excel sheet so that anyone can make changes to the tables and querys (by adding to their name what events they attended). Idealy whatever chenges they made would be saved.

I am new to asp pages and vbscripting and am having a problem trying to get a form in a html document to be submitted back to a asp page, then into a microsoft access database.But not sure what I am doing incorrectly. Every time I fix one error I seem to get another error.
This is the latest error, and I believe the problem exsists in the ASP page? Something to do with the connection, that it is not seeing the Nano.mdb database. It is set up correcly under the System DSN in the ODBC data source. Any ideas?

What I am wanting to do is list the last 10 submissions to a knowledge base and create a link to each one with the question text serving as the visual representation of the link.
I have searched the forums for info on how to do this in ASP and have come up empty. I will detail what I have so far.

I would like to know how to go about sending a query to a database when a certain image/link is clicked by the user.
By this I mean e.g. table in a database called cd, primary key in table id. Each image/link has its own id number which refers to its record in the table.
So when the user clicks an image or link i would like it to preform a SELECT query using the id number.
How would i go about giving a link/image its own id number? I guess this is simple as i have seen it on many sites and have seen the query string at the bottom of the browser in status bar when you hover over image/link.

I am developing a simple little application for a client that allows them to do an employee lookup. This small Access database contains only a few fields such as name, job, email address etc.
However, when the data is pulled from the database, I would like my ASP pages to create the email as a mailto command when pressed. I'm not sure how to go about this.
I tried creating a mailto: link on the dynamic text but that hasn't worked.

i have list of items as a list.Now user can select any item in that list. Now what i do is create checkboxes to enable user to check the item which has to be selected.
1. Checkboxes are dynamic.
2. I create checkboxes with one name assign value = Itemcode value so that when form is submitted i can get the itemcode value as a comma seperated list and which would be easy for me to put it in a database query.
3. the part i have problem is i have to display those checkboxes ticked back to user , ie after form submit i have to make the checkbox which are previously checked, to be in checked state.

I am rewriting from scratch some code done by previous programmer on a glossary for our website. I have a database with three fields, ID, Term, Definition and a table called glossary. I need to be able to display everything to the *same* ASP page.
I have already successfully created the db connection and the records display according to the SQL statement, i.e. where Term like 'a%'.
What I would like to do is to display each letter of the alphabet dynamically from the Term field as a hyperlink that will display the terms beginning with that letter, i.e.

I am having some problems with setting this up. Included in my main index.asp page is an iframe like below:
<iframe src="iframes/iframe.asp" width="425" height="225" frameborder="0" scrolling="auto"></iframe>
Basically I want the text in the iframe to change depending on the pid value. (pageID), I have all this set-up previously in my functions page. Except the only way I can see any action is by running the iframe directly and passing the querystring like iframe/iframe.asp?pid=4 and this works fine, but in my main window index.asp it does not change.
I have an idea that when i type index.asp?pid=3 its trying to get the querystringbased on the index.asp not the iframe.asp, so does anyone know how I connect these two up so that my content will change in the iframe held within the index.asp page.

We use an ASP application in which we send out emails using cdo for various
events.
At present the email text is hard coded into the code. for example
strMessage = "Dear " & rs("firstname")

This causes an administration overhead as everytime the text of the message
needs to be changed we need to alter the code to incorporate text or
database values.
What we want is to store the message text into a table so it can be altered
by the application administrators through GUI by adding the text through

In one of our applications we have product id field which sometime contains ' . When doing a search the sql breaks due to this. I cannot use replace function to remove this is there anything else I can do so that this works

Im developing a site for an organisation im a member of. Im trying to make updating the site a simple as possible for the organistions staff, some of which are not the computer literate. So i have made a kind of template site where the content of all the pages held in a access db. I have then made an admin backend where organisation staff can login and update the contents of pages simply by editing text in a text box and clicking the update button.
However, i've come across a problem. When users leave a line break in the text box the output page doesnt display the gap. I am using a simple response write to display the contents of the attribute on the page. Currently the only way im managing to get line breaks is to enter a '<br>' into the text box on the admin page.
How could i make it so when a line is left blank on the text box the database records this and displays it on the output page?
