Fetching Http Pages

In PHP it is easy to fetch a HTTP page using syntax like:

$http_data = file("http://somedomain.com/some_script.php?some_data=x");

after successful completion of this statement, the page data is available in the variable $http_data.

Could anyone please let me know if is similarly easy to fetch a page in ASP code. I would appreciate an example of the equivalent code.

I am not working in ASP but want users to be able to programmatically fetch pages from my site.

I was hoping someone may knew what options I can have for applications (data0bound) like powerbuilder or access running on the internet, or even my own applications talking to for example a database, but not necessarily using the request response model traditionally on the internet?

HTTP 500 Internal Error When I Try To Display Asp-pages But Static Content Is Ok

When I use IIS 6.0 to display static content everything works according to plans. Now I have created an asp page even though there is no dynamic content at the moment. The web page's name just ends in "asp" and has the Code:

<%@LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" CODEPAGE="1252"%>

at the first line of the code.

When I try to link to this asp-page I get an error code saying "Http 500 Internal Server Error". I then disabled the "friendly http errors" and got this information.

"Asp error Asp 0203"
"Invalid code page"
"The specified code page attribute is invalid"

I should also add that I have enabled/allowed asp as extension in IIS manager.

Anyone who knows what I can try to get IIS working with dynamic content too?

File Fetching

I've been searching the web for hours and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. What I want is to create a function to fetch a file (in this case a PDF) from another webhost to my own server.

In other words, I would like a little bit of code that grabs a PDF file from a http website and save it to my server, all automatically.

Fetching Form Values

I came up with the new problem. I want to fetch all form values by using request.form("FormName") which is generated by javascript on runtime.

The attached zip code contains the working code of javascript creating dynamic form elements. So after generating a couple of textboxes when I click on the "Submit" button it should display all the values entered in the textboxes on the next page.

Our client wants to have a system where it display real estate listings from affiliated realtors without having to enter listing information into our database.

Affiliated realtor will provide a link to xml file containing listings information and we have to fetch the data from it and display it into our web site. The xml file will be on some other server.

Is this possible?

Fetching A RSS Feed Through A Proxy Server And Displaying It On ASP Page

I need to display the contents of an external XML/RSS feed in an ASP page. I have found a couple of scripts that seem to do the trick at:

(URL address blocked: See forum rules)
(URL address blocked: See forum rules)/ow.asp?ASP_Based_RSS_Reader

(any good alternatives will be much welcome)

However, my problem is that the ASP page is part of an Intranet site, so it can only access the Internet (in order to fetch the RSS) via a proxy server.

Can somebody tell me how can I modify the above scripts (or any other that does the same) so the IP/port/login/password parameters can be passed along with the feed URL?

HTTP

It seems to me that if I can have a regular .asp page that contains multiple <input type='file'> elements, and a user could browse to individual files and fill up all the elements on the page, that there should be a way to replicate the HTTP post data. Can
I somehow make my client-side activeX component post the same type of data?

I tried using MS Stress Tool to view the post data being sent from a regular.asp page that contained several <input type='file'> elements.I saw that there was a structure to it. The structure contained the binary data of the files I had selected for upload. But, I have not been able to figure out how I would replicate this structure in my
client-side activeX component

HTTP 404

I have certain ASP pages that are wel tested and working in many places. But there is one server (window 2000) on which some of the asp pages do not work. I get a HTTP 404 fil not found error. I checked more than a few times and made sure the file are there on the server where the IIS application is looking at.

some of the ASP pages are working fine. Only those ASP pages whose name starting with 'ETC' is not working. If I chang the name of the same ASP to some thing other than "ETC" it works fine. Do you think there is some software on the sever that tells IIS t block requests coming from any ASP pages starting with the name 'ETC'. what is going on?

MS XML HTTP REQUEST

Why ASP's MS XML HTTP request object gets another page's HTML source
without interpreting path differences. For example, if my page is:

with XMLHTTP getting source code of page:

www.test.asp/one/page2.asp

and this latter page has a CSS with path ../include/css.css, it won't
be used in page1.asp because path will stay as it is "../include/
css.css", not "../../include/css.css" as needed for page1.asp?
