In my database table , I have field to store the text, I am tryinf to find the length of the filed in ASP like below
response.write len(rs("cname1"))
It is displaying the value , when the data in the field is nonzero, it is not displaying anything if the filed is mty in table. I cant understand y it is displaying the length as 0 , bcaz i want to compare the length , if the length is zero , it will display one result or else it will display the value.
I need asp code for validations that needs to check if the value of the querystring variable received was alphanumeric and length of 7 characters. This querystring will be passed from another site so I am not doing client side javascript validations . If the length of the querystring variable is more or less than 7 then a user friendly error message be displayed.
so basicly if the user enters a 5, 4, 3, or 2 digit number the input will be forced to it's maxlength. I need this because I am writing to an SQL db and am combining multiple form inputs into one field in the db table ie(variable = A&B&C&D)
On a different webpage I need to display the variables. I am doing this by string manipulation functions like the one below.
when I submit I get the error message "File not found"
So a did a respnse write to write my filename and found it is now called 2006_Apr_19-83955.23.bin It seems to be the time as it changes each time I try and get the filename to write...
this is the code on my delete page
<% Dim Upload Dim FileName Dim Folder Set Upload = New clsUpload FileName = Upload("File1").FileName response.write "Here is the file " & FileName & " name <br>"
Folder = Server.MapPath("..country") & "" & strPathToSave response.write "Here is the folder " & folder & " name"
Create the following code from database but does not validate on enter - I am using ShadowWizards validation code.
<Input fields so work however I will need dropdown and radio buttons to be validated also.
I really like the work ShadowWizard has put in and would like to continue in the same neat, cleaver coded way!
I did validate the few fields with ASP but Yahoo toolbar stops people going back on forms and therefor would not work on all PC's, typically the bosses and now he seems to want it asap so any javascript solution? Code:
I'm looking for a way to check if a directory has any filenames with 'w9' in it, and if so print 'yes' in the appropriate place. My database has a field called CustomFieldFilesDir where the appropriate folder structure is already entered for each person ex. 'p:john doe'. I've searched and found scripts that look at extensions but not the file names themselves.
I have an asp page that uploads a text file, with SQL Statements inside. After I upload the file, I want to execute the statements and then delete the file from the server. The problem is: when I read the first Sql statement, it gives an error when I try to execute it I get a "Identifier that starts with 'INTO blah blah' is to long. Maximum length is 128. But when I response.write the variable it shows the whole string, all +-600 chars of it. So is this a DB Problem? (I'm using SQL Server 2000) And how would I change it, if it was?
I believe that it's possiblte to set the length of time that a visitor to a site can be inactive before their session time's out, but I don't know what the coding is or where it's placed. have never had to bother with this, but I've just started with a host, whose server seems to time-out my session after like 4 or 5 minutes
in my asp code i have a part that selects 10 products at random, and then displays in a right hand menu as links. however long titles tend to run over 2 lines, and dont look right clever. I was wondering if i can add a length to my sql for instance select * from products where prodname.length < 10 how do i do that, PS i am on mysql server
I think an url variable could be limited, maybe someone know the maximum length I can use ? (I try to send an html code with the get method, maybe some symbols could not be accepted in url).Is this length limited for a variable or for the url string ?
I have a webpage with a form and i am saving the webpage using name value pairs. So i can give the users a link which they can click on and the form will open up prepopulated.
The problem i am having is that these forms can get exteremely long (hence the prepopulation facility) e.g test.asp?name=value?name1=value1?name2=value2
is there any way to increase the url in a browser or if you know of any other way i can accomplish this id appreciate ure feedback more detail regarding the above: I am allowing useers to save their forms with the data, also save multiple versions of the form (same form with diff data).
I have a question about the Max Referer length. By default this is 256. I am not fully sure I understand this property. It this a header that is sent back to the Server by a client and is it part of the URL.
While testing our Secure IIS I ahd the error come up I increased the value to 1080 and the error did not repeat!. But through my search the Max Referer lenght is always 256. SO I am trying to get feel for what the Referer really is, is it part of the HTTP 1.1 protocol?
i have a webpage containing a textbox (textbox1) and a label(label1).As the user is typing into the textbox i want the label to show the amount of characters they have typed. How do i go about doing this?
I am passing data between ASP pages and use the Response.QueryString (I know that this is not the best method). Is there a limit or is this configurable?
i have this form to upload a document to a folder on the server. i have a field where you browse the files on your computer to upload to the server. once that field is chosen i would like another field to be populated automatically with only the document's name, without the path extension on it. does anyone know how to go about doing this?
My problem is: i need to write an ASP page which first checks whether the user has permissions to download a ZIP file, and then streams the file itself if the user is allowed to see it.
I have succeeded until this point, but the client browser asks to save the file with the original filename (and ASP extension). Obviously this would mean making the downloaded file unusable at client side, unless I tell the site user to manually rename it, but this is not a solution.
So I ask you: is there any way for an ASP page to stream data to the browser and have it saved with a default file name and extension which are different from the page's ones? Code:
I want to have a form where there is a textfield and a Browse... button to the right of it. I want the user to be able to press the Browse... button and select a file and then that filename be returned to the textfield.
I don't want it to upload it or anything like that...I just want to know the filename that the user has selected. Also, when the user presses the Browse... button, I want it to automatically go to a certain place.
I have an asp file upload facility on my website and I now want to add a timestamp to the name of each file uploaded to my webserver to ensure no clash of names. I have no idea how to code it so egfile.txt will arrive on the server as egfileYYYYMMDDhhmmss.txt (or something similar). Is it possible to do?
I've created an upload application that allows a user to upload a file a space on the web server.
What I want is when a user selects the file to upload, when the upload process takes places, a random number is generated and added to that filename.
I work out I can add the code:
intrandomnumber = Int((1000000-1+1)*Rnd+1)
but how do you do the change to the filename when it uploaded as I can change the filename name but the physical filename name would be the filename held on the user PC?
I am storing URL in a database for a 'sort of' directory type website. The <a href> is built from the recordset of URL's which is all working no problem, easy stuff. What I have found is going to be necessary in some cases is to trim the URL back to just it's www.abc.co.uk address for the link display.
I still want the actual link to go to it's long 'deep linking' location, but there is limited room for displaying a URL that could be a hundred chars long.
I'm making an error tracking system.I want to include a file (or function) at the top of each page which gets the A) current file name B) directory the file is in. In PHP this is $_SERVER( PHP_SELF )
On a side note, why is it that you can type "PHP SERVER FUNCTIONS" in google and get wonderful results, whereas "ASP SERVER FUNCTIONS" returns garbage?
One of the things I do is do my testing on an alternate address, then store the file as the regular address after it tests correctly, but since I might mention the test page in various forums when I ask questions, I leave it uploaded just in case someone later sees the link and clicks it.
So far, my kludgy way of handling it is to have a variable called "thispage" and set it equal to the page I'm working on, so when it links to itself, it links back to the page in question.
Is there a way of automatically testing for this value instead of manually defining it? I tried a quick Google search, but I didn't know what to call it. I assume it might be in the same general collection as the HTTP_REFERER item.
I coded a simple asp-script to force a file-download. (ex. dummy.doc). In IE6, NS4.7 and Opera 7 everything works fine and the file can be easily downloaded. But NS7 renames the filename in the dialogue-box to dummy.doc.asp . How can I prevent that?
I have a page that writes a hyperlink to files in a folder, but the hyperlink fails with the space in the filename. How can I strip out that space or replace with ? Code:
I have an ASP page that causes Excel to be loaded on the client PC with the text sent from within the page. An excerpt of it is shown below:
With Response .ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel" .Write(strResponse) .Flush .End End With
where strResponse is the text to be displayed in Excel. This all works fine and as expected, but the only problem is that the file is opened in Excel on the client with a filename that reflects the page from which the information originated. Is there any way of specifying the filename using MIME, for example if I wanted the file to be loaded in Excel as "myfile.xls"?
I previously had a post on a problem with the Microsoft SQL server, when I was trying to compare a record in the database with an inputed record, if the record in the database was not exactly the same length as the inputed record, it would not match. i.e. user codes = OAK,BRANT,QUYOU etc.
Unfortunately these records have already been made and they vary in length from 2-5 characters. Im programming in VBscript, does anyone know any functions which will rectify this problem?
i've tried the trim function but this has no effect, I could just change the length of the column so that they are all a similar length and thus will all be comparable, however this is certainly not ideal as an id code only two characters long is not unique, some of the records will clash.
I would like to avoid changing all the records as there are 25 different codes for about 10,000 records. im sure there is some code which could accomplish this but ideally I would like to solve the problem at source.
We have web site on IIS 5.0 for sending purchase-orders to database on MS SQL through ASP and ADO. The purchase-order is being sending to .asp script as web request, but the script recieves only the first 2088 characters of request. Is it possible to increase this parameter somehow, or to set it unlimited? Does the IE limit the request length, or IIS?
