What are those boxes called that you see on form pages to ensure that a
human is filling out the form?They are graphical letters and/or numbers and random?
I need to install one, but don't even know what to saerch on.

Im basically making a site that will have a homepage with links I will add everyday to graphics and movies on my server. When you click the link it will open a new page similiar to the homepage with the graphic/movie in the middle of hte page.
I know there's an easy way to do this so i can just have it call a database or something like that. Basically I want to just have to add a link to the home page describing what it is, then and add the link to the file to the database and have the coding do everything for me. I think this is asp.
Can someone clue me in. All the sites i've built up until now have hundreds of pages all consisting of the same thing and it's such a pain to keep duplicating code. I'm not looking to get too advanced. If I don't have to use an access database, i don't want to.
My problem is that the left and right panels of my website are exactly the same on every page so I made them into an include file. Yet, everytime a person clicks a link to another page, those images have to reload all over again....

View Replies View RelatedI have an ASP page working the way I want it to, no issues there. What I am trying to accomplish now is more on the graphic side. I have some hyper links on the left hand margin of the page. WHat I want to do is Color the width of that area different from the center of the page. Does anyone know how I can do that?
Can I add an image to the background adn have all the hyperlinks in the for front?
Is it just a color sertting in the form?
I've posted a thread a few days ago about a ASP.NET script that creates dynamic images.
Somebody mentioned that there is nothing similar to the System.Drawing class in the classic ASP.
Does anybody know which class could I use to create dynamic charts, like pie, or bar charts in old ASP, not ASP.NET? If yes, where can it be found? (Please no commercial components )
I dont need sophisticated charts, I need a class that allows me to dynamically create jpg or gif files, with methods similar to the System.Drawing namespace like createRectange, fillRectangle, drawLine etc.
Does anyone have any code examples on how to store a graphic image or binary file in an oracle database? One of my upcoming projects requires that I pull a file from the database and I want to experiment with this before I start on the project. I did a search on google, but nothing relivant showed up. View Replies View RelatedLooking around, theres a bunch of pre-made utilities out there for ASP that make graphs and charts. I guess they often just write binary image data on the fly, and they output the image. You can even say something like <img src="blah.asp">.
My problem is, I want to write images on the fly, but I dont need graphs or charts. I just want to have custom images created based on database data.
So my question is what are the underlying methods that these graphing utilities use to write this binary data? Can I write my own utility? I know PHP has a library to do this exact thing (GD Library). Does anybody know of an ASP equivalent?
I am looking for a way to have people enter some text, click a button and have the text show up on top of the existing graphics. I have no idea what this would be called, so if this is an existing topic, please forgive me and just point me to the topic. Is anyone aware of any sample code that demonstrates this?
View Replies View Relatedhave a question about sending HTML based email containing graphics. I am using the cdosys component to send an email from a ASP script. If the generated HTML message contains graphics, do I need to include those files as mail attachments to the email? Or as a easier solution is it possible to use a full URL to a image as a image source, if so how?

I just wanted to know whats the best way to generate 50 or say X amount of number at random without having to repeat any of the previous number...
so far I've the following:
[VBS]<%@LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" CODEPAGE="1252"%>
<%
function RandomNumber()
dim theRandom
Randomize
'RandomNumber = Int((upperbound - lowerbound + 1) * Rnd + lowerbound)
theRandom= Int((99 - (0) + 1) * Rnd + (0))
if (theRandom<10) then theRandom = "0" & theRandom
RandomNumber = theRandom
end function
%>[/VBS]
and then I've this in the body of HTML doc: Code:
We have the need to have a random token (a 16 char alphanumeric field) to be used as the key for one of our SQL tables. I have created a random token generator, however after only 3 months in production, it appears that we had an instance where a token that already existed in the tables was created. There are 3810 records currently in the database so it isn't like there are billions of records there.
I contacted an old college buddy of mine who is a mathematician, and he claims, assuming that random really does mean random, that the chances of getting a duplicate token are 1 in 79.5 septillion (79,500,000,000,000,000,000,000,000).
So my conclusion is that this was either a complete freak of nature occurance, or my random generator isn't really all that random. Here is the code behind how I am generating this: Code:
In my prototype asp page (with no javascript and no password validation, I have a registration form with the following action:
<form name="form" method="post" action="RegDetails.asp">
This works fine, the form details are collected by RegDetails.asp
I am attempting to include javascript server side validation for the pasword, which obviously requires password and password2 fields (to be verified). I have used the script available at:
http://javascript.internet.com/forms/val-pass.html
It works fine in a new blank page with the form action:
<form name=myForm onSubmit="return validatePwd()">
The final stage in this javascript demo form displays an alert box:
else {
alert('Nice job.');
return true;
When I change the first line of my original form to:
<form name=myForm onSubmit="return validatePwd()">
how do I get my original action of - action="RegDetails.asp" instead of this alert box?

I have a html form, and I like to know how to capture the values in the form after the user hit the submit button. How do I capture these values in an ASP page?
View Replies View RelatedI have created a workorder form on Front Page that employees use to send in computer and other maintenance problems. In the form properties, I can choose to send the data to a database OR send it in an email, but can not choose both. We have it going to a database so we can better manage the data. But we would also like to send an email notification when a new record is added to the database.
I've tried this in Access on the database end but came up emptyhanded. The Access gurus have suggested it's something I need to do in html on the form. My html is very limited so I'm hoping someone can tell me if this is possible, and how I would go about doing it. The HTML gurus suggested it was an ASP issue.
I have a web page which has a registration form. The user inputs data in the form and I would like to be able to send the entire form contents to an email address (In the HTML format).
What is the best and easiest method to do this? Do I have to capture each element of the form and string it to the body and then send it out in the page or is there any faster way to grab the entire contents of the form entirely and attach to the body?
How can I get contents of a web form transferred to an ASP page. i.e. the form variables? I tried using Server.Transfer with the preserve form parameter set to true, but this created some wierd .NET framework error.
View Replies View RelatedI am writing a multi page form. I am using hidden input statements to pass my variables between different pages. Now I want to provide a page whereusers can update the previous entered data. The form at this point is populated through the hidden variables.
But as I submit after making any changes. the hidden values instad of updating get an extra value. Is there any way to get around it.
I have been investigating how to create a multi page form in Frontpage that
eventually will allow an emailed result. I can write the asp to "post" from one
page to the next easily enough but when it comes to the last page, I can't
figure out how to email the results. the syntax "response.write" will write to a
web page but it won't fill in the content of am email. I thought of putting the
"response.write" inside the body of a CDO.message but that leads to the next
question...
While looking at threads about the subject I keep seeing that I should use
CDO (or CDONTS) or a third party app like aspmail. All of which, from what I can
gather, use IIS SMTP service to function.
The problem I will have is that I have Exchange 5.5 on the same machine so
the SMTP on IIS won't start since ex5.5 uses that port. I have ex2k on another
machine that I will soon move the users over to so that will free up the IIS
port but I would prefer using the new mail server for this when it is running.
Is there a method for using the ex5.5/ex2k mail system for sending the asp
generated email? or perhaps another technique? I would prefer to just write it
but if I have to buy something I will.
I want to add two buttons to my page, which direct to and send query information to different result pages.

1. User fills in form and hits submit
2. Some processing is done with the posted data using ASP

From the past I have been adding records with a form with 2 pages.
One with the form and the other a add.asp page to actually take the values from that form and add to Access database.
Just for example I had the form on:
p1.asp and when they click submit it goes to
p1add.asp and adds it, but is there a way to add it with just p1.asp?
I received the following bit of code from a friend in need of help. I've done all I can do so far and need assistance with the rest. This code is supposed to get a web page and grab the necessary info from it so it can be used. After the page is grabbed I need to grab the values of 3 "hidden" input fields in a form.
The fields look like this:
<INPUT TYPE="HIDDEN" NAME="VARIABLE1" VALUE="CD5E56C4E89CFBE470D8B098C6897BABB6C037FD784765B0">
<INPUT TYPE="HIDDEN" NAME="VARIABLE2" VALUE="CD5E56C4E89CFBE4B1B8B011899A4B44CCC7B734481F19ED67745C61F9EF16D0">
<INPUT TYPE="HIDDEN" NAME="VARIABLE3" VALUE="D8F1A38F99B9320B">
The code I have looks like this. I need help getting started on how to search thru the retrieved web page to get the above values.
If someone knows of better code than what I have so far please feel free to enlighten me with it. Code:
how to get started with this project. I want a page where a
user can manually enter an order. Our users know our order# system and it's
much easier to manually enter items as opposed to using a shopping cart and
flipping through multiple pages.
On the page would be the following....
1) Billing address
2) shipping address
3) fields for order numbers
Billing and shipping seem pretty straight forward.
Because I have no idea of how many products a customer will order, I'm
picturing a new order# field being created when one is filled out. How do I
do this?Then, assuming I get all these dynamically generated fields, how do I get
them into an OrderDetails table?
I'm trying to submit a form to the same page. Eg. (page name = test.asp)
<form action="test.asp" method="post" name="testform">
<input type="text" name="testval1">
<input type="submit" value="Go">
</form>
At the very top of the page I try to get the value by saying:
newtest = Request.Form("testval1")
I got the example from here
The trouble is, my page instantly throws an error. I think it's because when I first load the page up, it's obviously not coming from a form submit! Can anyone shed any light on a way around this?
I'm trying to setup something that adds/edits records to an access db using vbscript.
I've got an html form with text, select and textarea inputs.
These values get passed to an asp page that UPDATES the record (not INSERT because it's actually appending to an existing record). Because this page is also an EDIT page, I SELECT all the values so as to:
1) display the current value for editing
2) make sure if they're not edited the value is not null when submitted
My questions:
It's no problem populating the values of form "text" inputs, but how do I do the same for
a) the "select" inputs (Make the proper value SELECTED)? and
b) the textarea input?
ie. The user goes to the page for the first time and there aren't any values yet. They use the various form inputs to add values. When they come back to edit the same record I need to display current values of all form fields properly. Code:
