Using an Access database with fields UserID and Password.
Does anyone have a good script for allowing a user to change their password?
Password should show encrypted and I think a user should have to enter their new password twice to confirm.
The Change Password script on this page does not work
correctly on our server. It goes to a blank cannot be displayed
instead of updating the password as it does in the demo.
Is anyone aware of a simple script that will allow allow a user
to update their unencrypted password?

if it's possible to allow regular windows domain users to change their passwords through an .asp page? I'm trying to figure out the best way to handle domain users to log into an .asp application tied with SQL Server 2000 on the back end since I keep reading that windows authentication is better practice to log into SQL Server.

For convenience I want to add 'tabs' at the top of the page (like a card

How do I update any changes to the data and switch to a different page - at

Is it possible (and if so, how?) to have an asp form page that based upon a user's selection on a field, would generate a input field b that the user selects?
For example:
User selects "name" in a select statement which would list the possible names to select from or if the user selects "telephone" in the same select statement then it would list the possible telephone numbers to select from.
Or simpler:
If user selects A then show P to select from or
if user selects B then show Z to select from.
When I press enter on my Password field in my asp page it submits the form. If I do this in a straight HTML page it doesn't submit the form. I don't want the form to be submitted until the submit button is clicked. Has anyone got any ideas on this please?
Also, I know that the Java code to submit a form is frmForm.Submit(). Is there an asp equivalent? Is there an alternative to using Repsonse.Redirect?
I have seen one table in which while selecting records from that table and viewing the resultset in Grid format the passwords was coming in encrypted form means suppose the password was 'super' but in the resultset set it seen as n or some other letter. View Replies View RelatedI have a form that i'm using to collect a NEW users username, password, confirm password and email address.
I cannot seem to grasp the concept of the various ways to "validate" these fields. Here is what i'm needing.
*Username field is required (cant be left empty) and doesn't match any current username records - I do have the form going to a page that does the SELECT WHERE blah blah and has the rs.eof thing but I'm not sure how this is fitting into the part where we make sure its not blank. Also when there is an error, I was hoping it would redirect them back and leave the "correct" data in the spaces. Mine seems to empty every last field even the correct ones. Is there a way to only change or blank out the wrong fields?
*Password required (cant be left empty) and both fields match.
I have something like this so if they do match, it continues on ....
I am new to asp. I am trying to setup a log-in screen and am having trouble figuring out how to set the session cookie. I found the bit of code below, and it works if I enter a specific 'email' and 'password' into the "if" statement, however we have multiple users logging into the section. How can I set it up so that if the form is successfully submitted using any of the multiple email/password combos then it creates the session?
Example found...
<%
Username=Request.Form("email")
Password=Request.Form("Password")
If email="emailaddress" AND Password="password" Then
Session("Loggedin")=True
End If
%>
I have a ton of TD attributes that have to be changed based on the
data in the DB. All TD elements are ID and runat=server.
Changing the attributes of a SINGLE TD is simple:
<td id=thisTD runat=server>
thisTD.Attributes.Clear();
thisTD.Attributes.Add("Class",reader["thisTD_Class"].toString());
Now, say we have 100 TD elements with IDs TD_1 to TD_100
I have not been able to find a way to (essentially) say:
for(int i=0;i<100;i++){
"TD_"+i.Attributes.Clear();
"TD_"+i.Attributes.Add("Class",reader["TDClass"+i].toString());
}
in J-Script, I could do it by Eval() or about eight ways through the
DOM. It seems crazy to me that if I can access the Attributes of a
specific element directly by ID (thisTD.Attributes), I couldn't also
access it by reference.
But I have been able to find NOTHING to indicate how this may be done.
Obviously, my problem is not limited to a single attribute, or else I
would have just typed them all out by now. Trouble is, there is a lot
of logic that must be applied to the data before setting the
attribute. Without being able to iterate or loop by reference, I will
be typing for ages just to change some freaking classes.
I have virtual directory where I run test.asp page with only this code inside:
<%Response.Write now()%>
As a result, if I go into the IE and browse for the test.asp page, I get :
1/22/2004 14:18:04
If I copy this page on some other(existing) virtual directory, I get as a
result 22.1.2004 14:19:06
If I create a new virtual directory and I copy the page there, I get :
1/22/2004 14:18:04
Seems like that IIS takes english date format even if my regional setting is
:
d.M.yyyy and I would like that date on the page is always like this:
22.1.2004 14:19:06
Where I can change this setting?
I have a client who wants to password protect a learning course that is set up in modules. Each module needs to have it's own password protection so users can only access them as they progress through the course.
Each user should have their own password (for each module) and, said client would like the password to expire for the user at some (predetermined?) point. Is this possible? It seems like a lot (in terms of setup), but I don't know much about password stuff.
If it is possible, can someone give me an overview of how it works (theoretically) or where to find more specific info on setting something like this up (in ASP.net)
If it isn't possible, can someone suggest what is more reasonable in terms of protecting the modules?

View Replies View RelatedI just moved my website from a Win2000 server to a Win2003 server. On the old server, we would prompt for the user name and password via the WWW-Authenticate header, retrieve the Base64 values provided by the user from Request("HTTP_AUTHORIZATION"), decode them, and validate the user against our database.However, after moving to Win2003 server, the user is no longer prompted for the user name and password. The HTTP_AUTHORIZATION comes back immediately, and decoding it reveals a very long string of garbage.
Obviously something has changed between these two version of IIS. Anyone
know what the problem may be?
