Is there any where that you know of that I can get a free invisible hit counter. I mean completely invisible to everyone but the site admin? Preferably one that only counts unique visitors?

I am currently building a website and in one of the pages, it is to return Immediate, Extended, Standdown instead of 1.Immediate, 2.Extended, 3.Standdown(in the Ms Access). I am wondering if there is any quote to help me not display the first 2 characters(eg 1.) but just the 3rd character onwards.

is there a way to keep a client page invisible for a brief moment while it is checking a few things on the client with javascript? once checked it may need to redirect to another page. currently the 1st page flashes up just before the redirection... looks a

I have two computers. One is pc for my personal use, another one is a web server. Yesterday, I got a network router from my friend, so I was thinking great, I dont need to switch around the cable modem plug all the time anymore.
Unfortunately, no one else could find my website on the internet after I hooked up the router. So here is my question, how can I hook up my two computers to the internet at the same time while my server can serve as a web server?
Is it possible to post form data and open an invisible window?
For example, in page1.as
<form action="page2.asp" method="POST"
It will post the form data from page1.asp to the server, and open page2.asp. But I dont want to make page2.asp invisible.
We've got a webserver with an ASP application on it that needs to be able to send e-mails when certain actions are performed. However, due to a funky network setup, the server is (and will continue) to be unable to send mail via SMTP, so, in the meantime, what we want to do is redirect the mail message to a formmail.cgi script on a Unix box.
Now, the e-mails have to be dynamic, so hard-coding scripts is out of the question, and there's no way the Unix box can talk to the database on the IIS box (It's a long, convoluted story, but that's the way it is). So, my question is, does anybody know off the top of your head what the protocol is for doing an HTTP-POST operation behind the scenes? Ideally, I want to write one global SendMail function, and just pass the Name/Address/Message variables into it.
I've been looking for a counting script to count the number of hits to my HTM and asp web pages on my company's internal website. So far, everything I've seen only works on asp pages. Where would I find some counter code to record hits on htm(l) as well as asp pages?
I'm using IIS 5.0.
I've got a little counter program written to log individual hits to a page
without counting the same person twice. The problem is, it's counting the
same people twice. Here's the logic:
1) Check the session to see if they've been counted.
2) If they have not been counted:
- save their referrer/IP info
- flag their session to say they're counted
- end
But it seems that some people are being counted for every page they go to
and some are not. I've included the code below just in case. Is this a
server issue, a browser issue, a cookies/no cookies issue, or something
else? Any help would be much appreciated. I want to have accurate counts and
information for where people are coming from with as little effort as
possible.
I was just wondering if ASP is free? Taking in mind that i have Windows 2000 Server (which isnt free) and i have IIS and everything else setup. If i want to setup a complete ASP server will it cost me anything? And also is there a free ASP IDE?

I'm really looking for an ASP super-blog of sorts.
i have a simple asp counter in my site, the counter uses a access db & cookies (so every visitor will be counted once).
in the past days the counter has gone wild & count goes from 300 in ordinary days to 1000.
i guess this is because of robots, crawls, worms etc. is there any way i can count only real visitors?
I have recently enetered the world of ASP. I have a counter on my site which uses a global.asa file but it doesn't seem to work. it did for a while but doesn't now. i will atttach the files tommorow when i'm on my computer at home but in the mean time, what could be wrong?
i am also datbasing a site that will, evnetually, sell computers. it will contain all the parts for the computers and i want a drop down menu to link to them and return the prices individually and add them all up. the prices need to be returned separately so thy can go in their own table row. can this be done? if so, how?

View Replies View RelatedI have built myself a little hit counter. It's just a few lines of VBScript that submit the page name and date to an SQL Server db.It executes every time the page is accessed. I am a little concerned that this method may put strain on the server given that the home page averages about 3000 hits a week.I wanted to do it this way because it allows me to use the date field to analyse the usage on a weekly or monthly basis.
Does anyone know if this will put too much strain on the server? Perhaps this post is better suited to a db forum. Really I'm just interested to know under what circumstances the db server will struggle.
I decide to put a custom Hit Counter on my page (below). Then I won't be
reliant on the standard FrontPage one which uses webbots.
It is called by:
<b>Hit Counter: </b><!--#include file="_fpclass/hit_count.inc"-->
The code it includes is below.
OK, it works - sort of.
If I go to Guestbook and then return via the Home button, the counter
increases by 3, not 1.
I can't see why this is happenning.
After returning, a refresh increases it by 2, then another refresh increases
it by 1 ??
I know that many say "Don't use them - it is a sign of an amateur", but I
would at least like to get it working even if I later decide not to use it.
I have thought to make it a conditional include, i.e. if document.referrer
is blank. Is that possible? Code:
I am looking for a free instant messanger I can add to my site.I want it to be like AIM or Yahoo's. Of course, I want it to be free, and want it written in ASP. And it needs to actually work (I have found many that don't do anything!). I appreshiate a post from anyone that has any ideas.
P.S. I want it to be web-based, no downloading things for the client
I am running the WebService / CurrentConnections performance counter.
It works fine for one site I'm looking at, but not for another.
The one it doesn't work for, the polling vertical red line doesn't even
move.
Is there a setting somewhere that controls whether a web site can be be
'polled' or not?
I am using Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition.
stumbled accross this, and thought it might be useful to someone.for a limited time MS are offering "Developing Microsoft ASP.NET Web Applications with Visual Studio.NET" , a 17 hour course for free.Thought someone might make some use of it, just copy and paste the code they give you on the page i've linked.
