I need to be able to generate an invoice from an ASP page. Currently, the invoice is drawn in a web page and my client prints the page from their browser. This doesn't work too well in terms of graphics resolution and also requires endless positioning tweaking on my part.
Is there a way to use Word or Excel on the client, and send the invoice data down so that some sort of invoice template could be used? This needs to work on a Mac and ideally on a PC as well. The client machines have Office installed. I'm thinking this would be the best way to eliminate the positioning and resolution problems.
I am using a SQL database, and Classic ASP and trying to generate an Excel file with my results, but the table is displaying as HTML in the browser instead of prompting the user to download/open the file. below is my code (edited data table for length). Anyone know why I am not being prompted, but shown the data via the webpage?
Is it possible to use ASP +/ VBScript to automatically fill in certain fields of an HTML form with data generated from what the user typed in another field?
For example, the user needs to input 24 consecutive weeks worth of forecast data. If everything is done manually, they'll have to type in a date for each of the week. I would like the form to automatically fill in the following 23 dates (each one week later than the previous field) after the user fill in the first week's date. How do I do that?

I have just finished writing my site in ASP with Access I thought it would be useful to continue using this technology to create this invoice. Basically the details will be added to the invoice by retrieveing records from a database or creating new ones.
What I am looking for advice is regarding the end product, i.e. the printed invoice. I should be able to format the page correctly so that it prints to A4, but my concern is what about the header and footer information that the user controls.
I don't want any of this information to appear on the print out therefore I'm wondering if there are any other options that I can look at for producing this invoice. for example is it possible to create a properly laid out word document or pdf from the data?
how do i create an invoice no with addition.. sample of my code.. which is not working... Code:
if rs.EOF then invoiceno="fm1193-01" else rs.movelast lastinvoiceno=rs("Invoice Number") invoiceval=trim(mid(lastinvoiceno,3,6)) invoiceval=CLng(invoiceval)+1 invoiceno="fm1193-01" & invoiceval end if rs.AddNew rs("Invoice Number")=invoiceno rs.Update
I am trying to assign an invoice number to orders that are made on my website so that i can combine multiple order numbers into one invoice number. Here is the code i am using to insert the invoice number into the orders table.
It works if there is only one order in the table but if you try and order again it multiplies the orders by the number of invoice rows for example if there was 3 invoice fields it would add the same order 3 times into the order table. Its got stuck in some sort of loop. Code:
I have a ASP shopping cart web site with Access db. I need to assign an invoice number (1,2,3,4 etc.) to orders which have status "completed" ("invoice number" used only to count completed orders and different from OrderID, which is unique).
Also, if i change status from completed to something else (in case if it was completed by mistake) then the invoice number from that order will be available for the next completed order. I am not sure if it's possible. I need it for tax dep. they don't except a list with missing invoice numbers.
how I generate a new XML file that I can then use with an XSLT file. I am trying to use an XML file generated from Microsoft Project or even better generate an XML file from the project file (MPP File) itself. Which I can then use with an XSLT file
I am new to XML and want to create a project viewer using XML, ASP and XHTML. I have an idea of how this should work but would really appritiate any help someone can offer. Is it possible to take an XML file and generate it in ASP without using an XSLT file??
I've been trying to Google this but have been getting far too many hits to be of use. Is there a slick way to generate a CSV or other Excel-friendly format and push it to the client? I'm using VBScript (and HTML and other typical stuff of course) on the ASP pages (no .NET stuff). Just a shove in the right direction is all I really need here.

I noticed that PHP have the ability to create PDF files without using any third partty componentys. Most notably is via FPDF. It generates PDF by using "pdf markups" / or ghostscripts .
I believe the same can be done via ASP too. One has to use response.write pdf headers. Has anyone succeeded in doing that? I have the intention to go thru PHP's FPDF and try to convert that to VBScript.
I trying to generate a new XML file everytime a user post a value through a simple form. I want to create an Excel object from an ASP page. Basically, the input parameters to the Excel would be from the ASP. I know ASP and I know VBA, but I haven't used both of them together. Here's what I would like to do -
The ASP should generate an Excel report by passing 2 parameters to the Excel application (I have done this independently; without interfacing with ASP).
I know that I can create an excel handle from the ASP as -
Set MyExcel = Server.CreateObject("Excel.Application")
I dont know where the VBA code has to go? DO I have to include it in the ASP?

I am using the code below to create an excel document from data that is returned from an sql query. The formatting of the excel document is pretty and all is good unless I hit the back button and run my query a second time, or a third time (I haven't made it past 3 times). Basically what happens is every time I do this, excel does not close once I hit my back button. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Another problem is that when I run the query it just opens excel within my browser, is there any way to make it ask if you want to save or open the file?
I basically throw this code at the top of the html doc: .....

It's for an example in some documentation.I was looking for something that would error (like a mathematical equation using a string) that could be simply fixed using CInt(). However, the strings are getting converted at run time so I can't get the error to throw.
