Apostrophe Problem When Adding To DB

I currently have a simple html page that consists of a text box and submit button. A user supplies a quote in the text box and presses the submit button. When the submit button is pressed the quote is added to a ‘Quote’ table in an MS Access database.

This works perfectly well, however if a quote contains an apostrophe, such as … this won’t work… It will not add to the database. If I had typed in …this wont work… It would be added to the database with no problems. Code:

the script firstly checks that the user has filled out all the fields in the form from the previous page then the script is supposed to check the database for the username and email then adds the user if it is all ok however if the fields have all been filled out it simply adds the users anyway. here is one of the check scripts i am using VBscript and an access database .....

To do this I would like the admin screen to display all the dates in the database that the user has selected off and to have a checkbox next to each that the manager can select to approve it. However I don't know how I would do this, at present all it does is read the info in the database. Code:

Adding Info From A Form To Access Database

Except for extremely basic ASP programming that I did two years ago and have forgotten I have not touched coding since!

I've taken a look at a couple of tutorials but they all baffle me!

Can anyone tell me how I can just create a simple html form with input fields of FirstName, LastName, Email and Phone amd when the user hits submit it is recorded in an access database?

I can do the HTML part fine. And I believe I've set up access ok although Ive never used it before.

Also, if the server that the database will go on is a Microsoft one i suspect that is ok? Im not sure if all i have to do is upload the database and it will work? or do i need to talk to my hosting company to set up some kind of odbc thing that ive heard about?

My database will just be called clients.mdb and the table is called Customers.

Adding A New Entry To A List Menu Based On A Database

Let's say I have a dynamic list/menu, which gets its values from a
database table, for example a list of contact people where the value is
an ID number and the label is the name. However, if the value the user
wants is not in the list I would like to place a hyperlink which
will...

(1) open a small window, with an ASP form to allow the user to add a
new entry

(2) save the entry to the database

(3) add that value to the list/menu in the parent window and make it
the selected option

(4) close the small window and return to the original window.

I can handle the code for 1,2 and 4, but 3 is what I'm not sure about.
I don't like the idea of forcing the user to leave the current screen,
go to some other form, add the entry they need to the lookup table,
then come back; this seems like a logical approach, but just wondering
how to make it work.

This seems like a common enough situation; anyone have any code samples
or suggestions about how to do this?

How To Accept Credit Cards Online In Asp

I have built a shopping cart and have reached the point where I need to create the payment page. At the moment I have a checkout page with all the customers details i.e name, address etc, credit card details, order total, product name etc as fields in an form. It is at this point that I am not sure what happens next.

I am using a windows server (www.7host.com) with an MS Access database. I would be grateful if some one could explain to me exactly how I use the variables to take the payment and also how the information is sent back from the bank once the order has been processed.

I have read a few articles, but they just don't give you the actual practical steps involved with the asp pages/database, instead they mention payment gateways /merchant accounts in general. It would really help me if someone could explain this one.

Accept /decline Page - Session Cookies

I need help with setting up a page where the viewer has to accept terms before they can access the rest of the website.

The page will have a bit of text explaining why they need to accept oor decline the terms and then have 2 buttons. ie. accept or decline.

What I need to be able to do is set this up so that if the viewer tries to bypass the accept/ decline page they will get re-directed to it. If they have clicked the accept button then they can view anywhere on the site.

I understand that 'sessions' in IIS don't actually close until about 20 mins after the user has left the site and can live with that. But if they come back the next day they must go through the accept/decline page to get into the site. It doesn't have to have usernames or password, they just have to accept.

I understand that you set up several pages to do this, i.e. the accept/decline page, a 'checkterms' page (which sets the session cookie?) and then some code on every other page on the site to check for the presence of the session cookie and let you view if it is there. If not, redirects you to the Accept/Decline page.

The problem I have is I don't know what code to write and where to put it into the page.

Apostrophe Replacement

I know this is a very commonly asked question, but I can't find a solution
anywhere that I have looked.

I need to take the text that will be typed in paragraph form by the user
(textarea field) and do two things with it:

1. Store it in a SQL Server database field
2. Send it in an email upon page submit.

Of course, single quotes have caused problems, so I have this code:
strInternalDesc =
Replace(Trim(Request.Form("InternalDesc")),"'","''")

Problem is, it shows up like this in the email that is sent:
==============================
We''re in the process of
==============================

I would like to get rid of the double apostrophes, but not sure how. Went to
an article on ASPFAQ, and saw something which directed me to do this:

strInternalDesc =
Replace(Trim(Request.Form("InternalDesc")),"'",chr(34))

However, that just makes it a regular double-quote. I guess I could try and
find out what the character number for apostrophes are, but not sure where
that is. Besides, will that mess up my SQL Server or the email if I do that?
