How do I insert a record in a database if it doens't exist? For example, I need to see if the answer for a question exists and then if it doens't I need to insert a blank record.
Something like:
if questionID = 20 doesn't exist, insert blank record for questionID = 20
if questionID = 21 exist do nothing
table is Answers(QuestionID, Answer)
I need to do this in order to be able to do an update. Some questions were not in the previous form.
I allow my users to upload a picture from their machine to my website on the server. I know the exact name and the path of the uploaded picture in my server, is something like:
D:hostingmysitedbgraphicspicturename.gif
Then, I would like to insert this picture into my home page. How can I do that without manually download the picture from server to my machine? How can I insert a picture that exist in my server into my page?
I am using CDONTS to send mail to the user from my ASP application.
However, the code doenst works all the time. I am able to get mails but
nothing happnes most of the time. The code works maybe once in 20 tries.
What could be the reason?

I wrote the code for Members of Register. and i use cookie in this code, My database is SQL server. SQL server dosent support the cookies in my codes i dont know why this cause but my codes are working without any cause .

When I enter "abc" into the "zip" field on the form, I get the

Why doesn't the first statement assign the "abc" string to the
variable "zipCode"? What am I not seeing?

I'm using SQL Server and I decided to convert one of the fields from nvarchar to ntext. The transition in the manager was all right, but my ASP pages wouldn't display the ntext and there is no error message. I use Code:
<%=rs("Text")%>
to display the ntext...and there is nothing.
I have a database table with several records. Now I am filtering some data based on the "where" statement. If I run the query in analyzer then I get 20 rows. If I run the same query in asp and assign GetRows() to an array, then the array returns only 4. I am not sure if I am using the GetRows wrong. Here is a snipp of my code:

I have one field char type data length 1.. It has data either 1 or 2 in all the field tht I have checked through enterprise manager.

It display all the data except data from this field..Doesnt display anything..

What could be the problem?

Moved from Windows 2000 to Window 2003, and now receive this error sporradically. It only happens a couple times per day, so the connection string is fine.
This issue seems to be server related, becuase all the same code and database ran fine on Windows 2000.
On my local pc all goes well,when i upload it to the server i get a file does not exist error , both the server and my pc have exactly the same folder tree and the same files ( ive checked it over 100 times now ) but the error still persists.

View Replies View RelatedI'm using vbscript in ASP to loop through and rename the files passed to it in a form. When I output the text to the screen of the filenames etc it's all working fine.
However, when I try to get the rename code working, if I select more than one, ASP tells me the 2nd/3rd etc file does not exist. The first one always renames ok.

I have this sql statement which picks up the corresponding rating from the Rating table and matches it up to the artist from the Song table:
