In the same way that you can create and alter permanent tables in Access 2000 using SQL in ASP ( CREATE TABLE <tablename> col_1(col_1 datatype), col_2(col_2 datatype....Col_n(col_n datatype)) is there any way to do this for Queries?

Using regular VB ASP (not .net) and calling an Access database using ODBC, I've generated a recordset based a query... (no big whoop, obviously)
Now I want to be able to open a new XL spreadsheet (client side - we're assuming user has XL) and export that table to it. I've seen some posts about DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet, and CreateObject("excel.application")... I've never actually used them before, so I don't know where to start.
I'd like to have a link on the page with the table to "export to XL"... and then have it open XL (client side) with that table in a spreadsheet.

I am new to ASP and I want to use a query which links one record in a table to another record in the same table to display a list of values. The query lists the names of all managers (the managers staff no is held in the reports_to field of an employee)
Set rs=Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")
rs.Open "SELECT DISTINCT p2.Surname + ', ' + p2.[First name] AS Expr1
FROM People p1 INNER JOIN People p2 ON p1.reports_to = p2.[Staff no] WHERE (p1.[Staff no] IS NOT NULL)",con,3,3
while not rs.EOF
%>
<option value="<%=rs("p2.surname")%></option>
<%
rs.MoveNext
wend
rs.Close
However it doesn't like the alias (p2). Is it possible to return a list from this type of query?

I want to do the following but am not able to do it.I have one query which is:
SQL2 = "SELECT * From totalcloser INNER JOIN zipcode ON totalcloser.zip = zipcode.zip order by totalcloser.zip"
I want to store result of this query in a temp table so that now i can go ahead and compare the results in the temp table with some other table.I know i can do this in Access..but i want to do this by coding (in my program itself) where the query runs and dumps the query results in temp table and then the second query runs and does comparisons and displays the result on screen.Towards the end ,we can flush the contents of the temp table.

I have a data entry form. If the user submits the form without entering any data, the record should be inserted with null entries for the respective fields.
But when i execute the INSERT SQL query with these null values, it gives me an error.
This is vat I am doing:
<%
.....
address = request.form("address")
if request.form("Age")= "" then
ageValue=""
.....
.....
%>
I use these values in SQL query
This is the SQL statement when the above is executed
" INSERT INTO tblStatistics (Age,address) VALUES (, aaa)"
Because of no value for age, the query is not gettin executed.
I dont want a 0, I want a nul entry (<null>).
Could someone throw some light on how to set the age field to null?

A page I'm working on contains a registration form which is supposed to a) update an Access database using ASP and b) email the contents of the submitted form to the camp administrator.
This is my first experience with ASP, and with any kind of database interfacing language, for that matter. Currently I'm struggling with the record insertion. I'll worry about email afterwards.
I'm using Dreamweaver 8, which is generating all the code for me. I have a testing server set up on my local machine (in my working directory, in fact). I've told DW to connect to the databse (located in %siteroot%/database) through the testing server using a DSN (same DSN as on the web server). Code:

I'm trying to write a page that will accept form POST method variables from another page and save them to an Access database via a DSN connection. I'm using code like this:
<%
SQL = "INSERT INTO myTable (postVar1,postVar2,postVar3)"
SQL = SQL & " VALUES ('" & request.form("postVar1") & "','" & request.form("postVar2") & "','" & request.form("postVar3") & "')"
dsnConn.execute(mySQL)
%>
I'd like to make sure that I clean up the text that the user inputs before trying to send it to the database. Can someone please give me an example of what ASP code I need use to get rid of quotes, slashes, and anything else a user could enter that might mess up the SQL insert?

I have a Dynamic product page that displays the items using "DO UNTIL rs.EOF" and I have assigned form input type to be hidden(for some) for information that I would like to retrieve. On the product page I have a "Add to Cart" button which points to my "addCart.asp".
addCart.asp is where I would insert the items into a Table called "cartItems" in the Database when the user clicks on the "Add to Cart" button.
My "addCart.asp" now generates a "Syntax error in INSERT INTO statement." which I think is caused by my inability to filter for the values from the product page and insert it into the "cartItems" table. Code:

I am using ASP Upload to upload an image to a website. I have other form fields in the form that are used to obtain data and are inserted into an access database. I've got a web-based "database admin console" that uses ADOX, etc. to query a database and return the tables, columns, etc to a form that I can then use to build SQL statements to run against that database. It's very "generic" - i.e., everything is dymanically created but pretty handy to have
If you send it a "SELECT" statement, it can print out a table on the screen showing your recordset. No big deal. What I'd also like to include is some way for users to get that output in a comma- or tab-delimited text file that they can use however they like. There are two ways I know of to accomplish thi
1) Create a big string as I step through the recordset - (strOutput = strOutput & "'" & objRS(I) & "," .....) and then slap strOutput into a <textarea>. This is probably not desirable because the user would have to copy all the content in that <textarea> and manually paste it into Notepad or whatever
2) Use the FSO. However, my limited experience with the FSO leads me to believe that I'd have to SAVE the resultant file before I can send it to users. I don't want to do that.
Does anyone have any suggestions about how else I can accomplish this? Or, if FSO is the way to go (which I suspect it is), bear in mind that my only exposure to FSO is in the context of .vbs files....are there any special tricks you need to use for ASP

Getting the SQL values is no problem. How do I go about creating, populating & sending the vcs file? its similiar to a txt file. Its plain ASP not ASp.net and I can't install any components onto the server. It has to be kept local.

I think even this forum does this type of display. Now my question is how do i start searching for the entered string and stop displaying the wait page only when the search is finished.
i.e i dnt want a wait page to be displayed simply for two seconds and then show the search page. I want to ""show the wait page after the search is started and then stop displaying it and display the search results only after the result is got""
