Multiple Image Uploads Without Components
After a lot of head scratching, I've put together something I hope will be useful to others. Basically it allows multiple image uploads while limiting the type, size and dimensions of the images before doing the upload.
It uses three of Lewis Moten's classes: clsUpload.asp, clsImage, clsField.
My code (processupload.asp) is a bit lengthy, but it works together with his to allow multiple uploads while checking dimensions. (hopefully someone can cut it down) It can be downloaded here: http://www.activeice.co.za/brett/image_uploads.zip (I have included the class files for convenience)

Just reading from a previous thread about multiple uploads.
I wanted to use script to create multiple input file elements that put the path in as a default (or something like that) based on ASP code. My problem was that the input file value property is readonly and there is no default value.
The thing is you can cut and paste a path manually (ctrl-c,v) but I couldn't work out how to do it from code. I thought that anything that you could do manually you could pretty much do with code.

I want the user to select multiple files. On selecting the listed files, he can
click on open and all the selected files should appear in a textbox. On clicking a

i am coding in asp. I got a problem with uploading two image files to the server and database in a page. I got an image file uploaded in to server and the path got stored in db(MS Access). But when using two image files at a time using an upload component ,its not getting. I am using two images(small & enlarged) for a news from the admin system and uploading the images in a small and enlarge folders in the server.

Let me explain how our web site in constructed before getting to my question. We have three web servers that are a mirror of each other. So whenever I make a change to one of our pages, I have to upload to all three servers. My new task (and its a good one) is to create an image upload script that will distribute the file to all three servers.
I already have an upload script that works just fine, however I wanted to see if anyone out there has attempted anything similar to this and what methods they used to achieve their goal.

Well i have pictures in database and i display them all on the page. While i display them i put a button with them each. So that they can be deleted.
But the problem is that. as i put the button in a loop while displaying images. The name of the button is same and when i click the button to post the values to the next page where i should have the script to delete image. All the values of all the images go to the next page.
I want to bind that particular image with that button, so that when one specific button is clicked only the id of the picture binded with that will go to next page.
I can do the job by having a delete link with each image and posting the value to other page. But i have to use the BUTTON to do that. But dont know how to use it.

I have been tasked with producing a script that times the amount of time it takes to upload a file from client to server.Unfortunately for me, part of the spec is that the script must be written in ASP which is something I have about 30 minutes experience in.
I have been playing around with the script located at this address :

Which does almost everything I need, the only thing it doesnt do is tell me how many seconds/milliseconds/widgets it took to upload the file to the server (excluding time to write to disk once received)Can anybody point me in the direction of another script that can give me timings, or at least give me some pointers on how I can hack the above script to give me the data I need (I have already worked out how to get rid of the save to DB and user name option and this is now gone from the display page and the working scripts behind it)

I've got a form that allows someone to upload a file. I need to know how I can grab the filename from the uploaded file information so that I can store it in a database. I also need to be able to move the uploaded file to a specific directory.
I'm new to both ASP & VBScript but I have both of their "In a Nutshell" O'Reilly manuals. There's no mention of file uploads in the ASP book and I'm just not sure if the info in the VBScript book is what I need either.
Do I need to create a File object? If so, how can I use GetFile to retrieve the downloaded file? Do I access it via Request.Form("filename")? That should be the actual file, right? But how do I get the actual file name from that?

I have a site that i upload files to that are no bigger than 100MB. we upload about once a day, and use FTP...... we would like to be able to do it from the site itself.

The ordinary HTML <input type=”file”> don’t allow any other info than the actual file. I have spent a couple of days trying to figure out how to allow my users to upload pictures. What I want to do is simple. I want to make sure that the picture is 1) either a gif or a jpg - and 2) max. size 100 kb.
But I need to handle the check client side (IIS 4) - like when some user decides to upload 2,1 meg file my server receives the whole file - and then inform him its too big =) I would rather check the file size when he browses his own HD.
I have been looking at the MS - Posting Acceptor. This component however is impossible to find on the net (well I tried and failed, so I guess it’s not on the net *cough cough*) You have to have some VB cd-rom it would appear. Code:

I am working on getting through the book Teach Yourselve Active Server Pages in 24 Hours.
Now, I am not learning ASP.Net, but ASP. Why, because, I am getting a lot of calls for asp, but not many for .Net. And I just don't know enough as I'd lilke.

I don't have it. I am running IIS 5.1 because I am on a Windows XP machine. And I am told I need a SDK download, but which one? Everywhere I look, its IIS 6, but that doesn't work on my machine. So, how do I get these components so I can run them.

After working for so many yrs in ASP and COM I still feel novice. I have asp
page nd a COM component (.exe) which is written in VB. For some fixure, I
have to remove my IIS and reinstall it. My ASP page is not instantiating my
component. Whereas, components which are dlls working frin in ASP pages....I
checked permissions on DCOMCNFG, file directory, folder, file.
Any clues what is missing.
Error Type:
Server object, ASP 0178 (0x80070005)
The call to Server.CreateObject failed while checking permissions. Access is
denied to this object.

I am new to using components in ASP, whilst I can see the huge benefit of using them, the big problem that I am coming up against is that my host won't let me register them on the server.
My question is simply this: is the only way around this problem to setup your own server (which is probably beyond my technical ability) or are there lenient hosting companies out there that will let you install components freely (obviously subject to their approval)?
I dont know if there exists a directory of components somewhere which have been approved by hosting companies as safe to use on servers? Im a little confused as to how I can take advantage of components if I can't physically install them. Is it possible to use a component removely without having to install it on the server?

I need to convert a dynamic (ASP) page on my site to a PDF, so I am looking for a PDF component which can open the page from a URL. Failing that it would need to open an HTML file from disk and convert.
I've been searching and there are hundreds with rather random pricing and different feature sets.

I've just been reviewing a COM component (VB6) that I wrote a while ago to
record when and where 404 errors occur; each error is logged in a DB along
with supporting information.
Looking at it now, I'm wondering why I chose a COM component rather than
just an ASP page. There is not that much code involved, so I could easily
have expanded the ASP page that calls the DLL to do the whole job....
COM Component:
Generally perform faster than an ASP page, but there is an overhead
associated with creating a new object in the calling ASP page, so more
suited to more intense apps that dont require user-interaction. Also keeps
code private of course.
ASP:
Keeping you code in an ASP page is often more efficient for smaller jobs,
where the cost of creating a COM object outweighs the potential performance
gain. Also prefered for tasks that require frequent user interaction. Code
remains public (to those who have access to server).
This is what prompted my question: At what point, does it become worthwhile
to go for a COM component as opposed to an ASP page? Is there that much
difference in it?
Are perceptions of the issues fairly accurate?
I've updated the DLL in question - it was a bit of a ball ache: modify code
& compile, reset IIS, then copy DLL to server and re-register. I know my DLL
in this example doesnt do much, and I'm certain that modifying and copying
ASP pages would be simple & efficient, but at what point does it pay to use
a DLL?

I migrated an application from NT4 (IIS4) to 2003 (IIS6).
The application only works when the components are registered with regsvr32.
One of the webpages doesn't work-- when I fill the form out and hit submit I
get "compx error '800af10a' Insufficient memory to perform operation.

I've tried going through and changing permissions but haven't had any luck.
I also tried setting the Web Site to use an Application Pool that I created
to run as System Mode but that didn't make any difference.
Everything works when I select "IIS5 Isolation Mode".
Knowing that it works under IIS5 Isolation mode how can I determine what is
causing the message so I can run it under IIS6?

I am running Sun One ASP v 4.0.2 on Apache 2.0.x on Win XP Home. I noticed that Sun One Asp doesn't come with components such as AdRotator, Content Rotator, Browser Capabilitles, etc. Is there any way I can install all these components on Win XP Home. For me upgrading to Pro is not an option.

How do I register FileSystemObject and ImageGlue component with MTS? Because the files manipulated using ImageGlue & FSO need to be recorded in the database. Without transactions, a lot of 'floating' files (without entry in the database), and entries without the physical files left around on the server.
