I have a querystring that passes through the value 001 for example, the form on the receiving page need to display that number but with 1 added to it. i have
dim strnum
strnum = request.querystring("value")
strnum = strnum + 1
when displayed <%=strnum%> shows 2 instead of 002, and the zero's are very important, is there any number formating trick i dont know or another way of doing this?i thought about coding the first two zero's in before i call the strnum but this would mess things up when i get to 010 etc.
Am collecting numerical entries from text boxes and converting to numbers using:
F1 = Round(CDbl(Request.Form("amout1")),2) F2 = Round(CDbl(Request.Form("amount2")),2) F3 = Round(CDbl(Request.Form("total")),2) F4 = F1 + F2
If F4 <> F3 Then Session("ErrorMessage") = Session("ErrorMessage") & "- Your control amounts do not tie to the Total Deposit amount.<br>" End if
etc.
Sometimes it works, but other times, although the numbers tie out, the calculated amounts are not coming up as equal. I've written the results (F3 & F4) to the screen and they equal, although the server doesn't think so.
Is this an issue with binary number conversion or something. Should I be using something other than CRnd (Delphi has something like C$ or CCurrency)??
I've probably done this before, but for the life of me I can't remember how I did it. I need to move values from a DB table into an array to be used for other queries. The number of records will vary, so I need to make the array dynamic. Can someone remind me how I can increment the index when I write a new record? Code:
I have spent some time studying the Wrox Beginning ASP book. I'm getting the basic concepts by working the examples on PWS, but am not understanding how to utilize some of the ideas in my own web pages.Is there another book I can move on to that demonstrates these ideas in "real world" examples? I am wondering if ASP may just not be my thing. I do have some background in VB and my HTML skills are decent
I currently have a record system in ASP. However it needs to display the newest record first on a table. I currently have the records saved in my own file type that is read like any other text file, but with keywords.
if there was a way to write to the beginning of the file instead of adding lines to the end using ASP and VB.
This works fine unless the "TrackNo" number starts in 0: as in 01, 02, 03, etc.The field "TrackNo" in my database is a numeric field.Anyone know how I should format this? I tried <% "" & CInt(TrackNo) %> but that didn't work./Still the output from it was without the 0 at the beginning.
I have written to text files in the past, but always appending new data to the end of the text file. I now want to add the new data to the beginning of the file. The text file would be a record of orders placed through a web form. The text file would merely be a record of the orders but it needs to be in descending date order - each new record added to the beginning.
How can I read back info from a database into an input field (in case it's to be edited) that will preserve the zeros to the right of the decimal?The zeros are being preserved in the access database when I have a look at it there. I have the field defined as type "Currency" to two decimal places.
I want to preserve those zeros to the right of the decimal point when I read the record into an input tag on a web page.I am trying to use "FormatCurrency(request.form(exp, 2))" and "FormatNumber(request.form(exp, 2))" but it doesn't help.
i have found a problem on my webite is when i try to enter details of a new book into the DB, i input the ISBN as its uniqueID, the problem is that if the ISBN starts with a zero, (i.e. 07987654) the DB will remove the zero from the start of the ISBN (i.e. 7977654). Can someone tell me how to force the DB to store the whole number including the zero at the start?
im inserting some data into a number field but when i have something like 0000006 it chops it to 6 in the database. and not always are the same number of zeros present. why im not sure just what i have to work with.
I understand that i could make the db value varchar and just validate it by doing something like Isnumeric. But is there a way to keep my zeros but leave it a number field.
I would like to format URLS that are being retreived from a database. Here is an example:
bodytext="this is some text http://www.sitepoint.com/ this is some more text" response.write(bodytext)
how could I change the URL (http://www.sitepoint.com/) to a link? So instead of http://www.sitepoint.com/, it would be <a href="http://www.sitepoint.com/">http://www.sitepoint.com/</a>. There are going to be an infinate amount of URL's (the user can type in any one) and it is just not the URL by itself.
When i send a text string to my database linebreaks are stored, but when i call it from asp to the page all linebreaks are lost. this will reformat text to look different than i was initially typed, how can i make the text shown on webpage in orginal formating. hope im clear on this or ask and i will elaborate.
does anyone know if there is a function to format date?When my date is extracted from database, it is in decimal format (ie.38233.72078), is there a way to convert this number to date formate using asp?
I posted before about replacing special characters (esp. '). However, I am wondering how formatting can be kept when entering it into a textbox to store in a database?
When text with seperate paragraphs is entered, it comes out as one big paragraph later on.Is there anyway to address this? When I was doing my searching - somethign about chr(10) kept coming up, but I am not sure what this is.
I have an ASP page taking data from a table. I would like that the data is shown as a % (like 51.456897%) All it shows with my code below is 0.51456897.
Can someone tell me how to change the code so that my % is shown? ....
I am importing a time into a sql datetime field from a text datafile using vbscript in an asp file. The time coming in will look like 8:00 or 3:30 or some other similar thing.
Because it is doesn't have am or pm associated with it, I have to force the issue or sql will assume am all of the time, and I am sure that no judge in our county is going to hear a case in the middle of the night!
So I have to add 12 hours to anthing that could be an afternoon time before I add it to the database to keep it from looking stupid in the display screens.
I am storing dates in a mySql database in the format yyyy-mm-dd. Now, I have set up so that this field is insert by a form.
It isn't very user friendly to have to type yyyy-mm-dd, how can I set up so that the user can enter format dd/mm/yyyy and it will automatically insert into the database as yyyy-mm-dd? I am using Dreamweaver MX 2004 and ASP.
I'm trying to pull the last 5 records from my database.
<% j=5 rs.MoveLast While ((j>0) AND (NOT rs_article.BOF))%> ''Execute HTML and data insertion here
<%rs_article.MovePrevious j=j-1 Wend%>
Everytime I attempt to run this code, I recieve an HTTP 500- Internal Server Error. It tells me no more than that. I know that my connection settings are OK because when I move forward through the database (first five records), the code executes without error. And yes, my Cursor type is Dynamic.
Alternatively, I would also like to know how to add new recordset to the beginning of a database rather than the end.
I need to insert some number into database as text. My problem is if I insert the number (ie. 4.0), the value in the database only show (4). So, is it possible to convert a real number into text number using ASP?
in master batch table i have various master batch like 200701-0001 200701-0002 200701-0003
Now each master batch can have multiple final mixed batch like
200701-0001-01 200701-0001-02 200701-0001-03
and this record is inserted in to fmix table.
so i have a form in which i have a dropdown menu in which all the master batch is listed, i select 200701-0001 and that value is passed to next page where i will enter other fields data and insertion to my fmix_no will be done automatic like 200701-0001-01, 200701-0001-02 and so on,
how to achieve this
so in short each master batch will have more than one final mixed batch.
