Selecting Tables From A Drop Down Box With No Fixed Position On Screen?
i am designing a search engine, you select the search options from five choices in a drop down box, each option reveals a table, but the tables have fixed positions on the html page.
i need it so that if only one option is picked to search and it is the last option on the drop down list, that it will appear at the top of the page? i dont have a clue what type of function to write to do this or what techniques will be involved!

I have an articles_tbl . How do i create a select statement which only brings back the latest 3 records added to this table (the database has a field called 'date_added') so the information of when they were added is present.
I was just wondering how to bring back only THREE records and showing them, instead of bringing back the entire table content and then showing three out of them..

I am trying to set up a component that will allow events that are date sensitive. From this date to that date. What I am trying to do is use drop down menus for selecting the dates, and I am having a hard time finding out how to build these drop downs so when someone is editing an event, the existing dates are pre-selected in the drop downs. But I need to seperate year, month and day for both and then have it change the value of the correct option to selected.What is the easiest way to do this?
I am Trying to use the SQL SELECT Statment to open records from multiple tables into one recordset.
I know the basic syntax of the Select statment but I wanted to know if its possible to recive the table name from the feild or the record that I am readinf from the recordset in any given moment.
To make things more clear, my example:
-Open a connection

now, in the part that I read from the record, is their any way I can know if that record is from table1 or table2?
I have coded 2 drop down lists. For ur info, currently my 2nd drop down list's content is being retrieved from one single table in database only. What if I would like to make the content of my 2nd drop down list to be populated with data from 2 different tables?
What i mean here is that, the selected value in 1st drop down list will determine data from which table to be loaded into the 2nd drop down list. Earlier I'ved coded my SQL statement as:

where data for 1st drop down list is loaded from table x and data for 2nd drop down list is loaded from table y.
My 1st drop down list only has 2 values., which are 'English' and 'Chinese'.Now I would like to make it as, if user select 'English', then my 2nd drop down list will refer to that particular 'English' table, while selecting 'Chinese' will allow 'Chinese' table's data to be loaded into my 2nd drop down list.
So what shall I change in order to filter the 2nd drop down list's content according to the selection from 1st drop down list? Shall I modify my SQL statements?

I have an ASP-Website with a very long list (out of a SQL-Query). If I scroll down the page I can't see the list-header any more <- THATs my problem. What I need is an ASP-Website with a fixed section that can't be moved and below a common, scrollable website. The header of my SQL-Query should be in this fixed section and the datasets should be in the scrollable section.
I posted a similar problem a while ago but never found a solution. I am passing an integer value (called NoElements)from a html form (which gets created using javascript) to an asp page. The value of NoElements is used to create an asp array of that size. At first I was confronted with the following error:
Expected integer constant
I then was advised to initialise the array (to say 100) and then do a ReDim Preserve. I now get this error message:
This array is fixed or temporarily locked? What should (or at least I thought) be a simple porcedure is making my life a nightmare.
i'm getting an instance of a form field value being cut off when input into a MS SQL db. i can't figure out where it's doing it. the field datatype is set to VARCHAR with a size of 100. the data is being cut at 30 characters. here is the form field: Code:

I'm querying a table and the column has 6 positions. I need to check if the 5th position is a 2,3,6 or 7. If so I want to set a variable = "Y". Can someone help me out with this?

After I read in a value from a table i need to read in the last letter of the value and check if it has an "s" as its last letter, so that i can display either ' or 's.
Does anyone know how code to view the last letter of the value or move the variable into javascript so that I can manipulate it from their?

I have been working on this site for the last couple of weeks and i am now in the process of testing and have found a problem.
Basically it is on my jscript function. I have written that if the value is >= 2000 do something else do something else, which is fine with the exception that the value isn't always going to go up in 1000's (sometimes it will be 1-10 others 500-5000 others 1000 - 10000[these values are generated within select tags]).
Basically i am wanting to know is there any way that i can use the select tag to work out the position from within the tag. For example if the position >= 2nd in list do this else do something else.
I have put serveral panel controls within a page, each of them matching to a action defined by buttons, so I want to fix all panels in one place( they already have same size, but different left, top values), how can I do it (in code, if I do it in desgn, is there a way to put the panels in different "layers" so the contained controls will not interupt with each other)?
I use an array of elements and I want to know the position of a given element in my array I know the filter function that allows to determine if the element i look for is in the array but this function doesn't allow me to know its position.

I am having a prob with getting for example, ASP Free Forums > Programming > etc, to display properly. I can get it to work sort of but need to be able to read in a value and be able to change it before its displayed.

The code below takes the script name of a page (which is always an asp file) and substitutes the asp extension with html and then inserts the file in the <frame> tag.
This code works file for a url such as www.somesite.com/file.asp But if the url includes an index eg www.somesite.com/file.asp#position1 how do I get the #position1 added to the file name that is used in the <frame> tag? Is there a server variable for # info? Code:
How can I delete an specific position within a vector?I have a list of e-mails to be sent but there's duplicated values which I'd like to remove.I added a function that locates the duplicates and tells the vector position I can find them, but don't have a clue how to remove them.
