Set Cookie Expiry Date Using JavaScript?

I'm trying to set a cookie expiry date but my script is JS (JavaScript). I've
tried

Response.Cookies("Test").Expires = Date();
Response.Cookies("Test").Expires = Date().toLocaleString();
Response.Cookies("Test").Expires = Date().toString();
Response.Cookies("Test").Expires = Date().toUTCString();

none works. I've seen what bothers IIS is the day name when assigning the expiry
date: "7 février 2004 11:57:57" is ok while "samedi 7 février 2004 11:57:57"
produces an error "Invalid type".

Ok, I could switch to VB Script (which I think I'll do because of the ease of
doing it in that language). But I'd like to know if there are well-known tricks
on using IIS/ASP and cookies expiry date in JavaScript. It seems IIS object
model is unable to recognize (or handle) JavaScript dates...

Might sound a stupid question but I'd like my script to be as platform
independent as possible. Why? I'm running a French version of Windows 2000/IIS5.
I might have to host my web on an English version. Or whatsoever. I wouldn't
like to triturate the date string for it depends on the current locale. If
JavaScript cannot be used without modifying the string I'll switch to VB script.

Read Cookie Expiry Date?

How does one read and write the cookie expiration date. At the moment my code is returning a value BUT a garbled value:

'//Write cookie...
Response.Cookies("Propsect").Expires = Date() + 1

'//Read cookie...
ExpDate = Request.cookies("Propsect")
Response.write "Prospect expiry date: " & expDate & "<br>"

Result: u%5Fname=k

Any ideas?

ASP Classic Session Bug, Related To Cookie Expiry

We are working on an old asp project and we noticed that some users get
kicked out of the session right after they log in.

I investigated the issue and I found the cause:
1- The user login successfuly.
2- He gets redirected to the menu screen. that's when I set some
cookies to cookie("cookie name").expires = Now. that when the session
starts to disapear, once the user tries to access other pages (or even
refresh), the ASPSESSIONID cookie disapears.

I did some debugging on the http_cookie collection and looks like the
ASPSESSION disapears once I set the cookie expiration, although I set
the expiration for cookies unrelated to the ASPSESSIONID.

Here is the tricky thing, it works on 90% of the machines, and it
doesn't on other machines, it's also random, so some users who had the
problem, are now able to work on the system and the problem disapeard.

Have you guys ever had this problem, or do you know if it is related to
IE batches or service packs?

Cookie Expire Date Question

How does the expire date work setting it server side with asp.
I know with javascript setting it client side it will be set to the clients
local time, and therefore expire when the clients local time reaches the set
expire-time.

But if it is an expire time set on my server in California, and the cookie
is put on a computer that is running on London Time, and the expire time is
set at the server as 20 minutes from now, the London computer will think
that the cookie has expired 7 hours and 40 minutes ago, right?

How does this actually work? Is it proper to just set my expire time as:

dtmExp = DateAdd("n", 20, Now())
Response.Cookies("MyCookie").Expires = dtmExp

This works fine. The problem I'm having is that when a user first enters the system there is no date selected, therefore I want the current date to be selected in these dropdowns based on the system dates Day(Now), Month(Now), Year(Now).

I can't seem to get the correct month selected, I can only get it to write the current month at the end of the dropdown which is no good cos then it's in there twice. Code:

Javascript Date Validation

I have a form that has two date fields, would like to validate both of them before proceeding. Have code that works really well for one field. Have also discovered that when doing validation that it is best to use only one javascript function, not two or more (because if one passes and one fails it will proceed!!!).

I need to call a javascript function. That function has several parts to it. On pass let the valid = true, on fail alert button. So far so good.

In the form it would look like onSubmit validform(). I dont send any at this stage. But in the function itself I need to test on field and then another. Code:

Javascript Date Retrieving From Ms-Access

I have a date field which I use var1 = new Date() to save under MS-Access field with "text" to be the data type (date/time is NOT accepting). I have tried using

var2 = new Date(oRS("field1"))
var2.getMonth() does not get the right saved month

how to retrieve the date and time using Javascript? Or I should use var2 = new String(oRS("field1")) The result of var2 would be "Thu Mar 31 11:11:11 EST 2005". Is checking the location of spaces the only way to get date and time?

Cookies On Localhost, Path & Expiry Issues

suppose i have a script which sets a cookie in this manner:

Response.Cookies("session_id") = '12345'
Response.Cookies("session_id").Expires = <future date here>
Response.Cookies("session_id").Path = "/"

and another script which clears it like this

Response.Cookies("session_id") = ""

The scripts are located in a directory "mysite" under iis root directory
and accessed through http://localhost/mysite/something.asp

When these are called repeatedly, everything works as expected
(script number 1 sets the cookie and number 2 clears it)

However, when I create a virtual directory called "mysite" and point it
to the same place, script number one is no longer able to set the cookie
after script number two has been called, even though they are still accessed
exactly the same way (http://localhost/mysite/something.asp)

But when I modify the code in script number one by removing the last two lines
("expires" and "path") it works as expected again.

Comparing A Date Field To A Date In A Form.

This SQL string returns all records from the table Businesses and does
not seem to be able to recognise Request.Form("Since_Date") as a valid
date. The Since_Date value is entered into a form field as
"01-Jan-2005" and appears to be treated as a date; when viewing the
SQL statement(with a response.write) it shows the date as 1/1/2005
even if it is entered into the form as 2005/1/1

I've also tried CDate(Request.Form("Since_Date")) with no luck,
although this was the treatment that worked when the SQL statement was
running in an .idc file.

Date_Added is a regular DateTime field in an Access 2000 database

Cookie And SQL?

On this website i am building it has password protection on certain pages. So i have a "login" portion on the right side of the page, that is shown on every page. When someone logs in is it possible to change that little section to just say Welcome so and so? Instead of having the username and password form with submit button?? Or is this something that requires some java to hide it?

Part II
When someone logs in i want them to recieve a cookie, in that cookie i want it to contain the person's name (wich i want the to be put next to the "welcome back on part I), email address, and up to four other numerical values. (some people will have greater access to sections of the site depending on who they are)

Is is possible to grab this information from the SQL database and put in the cookie? If so can anyone please show me, point me in right direction, ect?
