View RepliesI am currently sending email using CDONTS through the virtual SMTP server on my windows 2000 server. The message-id that is created does not include a time and date stamp therefor over time I have been getting some message-id's that are not unique. I can not find where that message-id is created so that I could update it.
Instead I have set the message-id header in my ASP program when I send the email using CDONTS. Now the message-ID has everything I need in it.
I am happy with all my tests and have not seen any problems but then again I am new to this so what do I know.
Does anyone see a problem with setting the message-ID this way?
Does anyone be chance know where the default message-ID is created when using SMTP?
Can someone please tell me how to set the priority of an email message sent from an ASP script using CDOSYS as below -

With CDONTS I successfully used .importance but that fails with CDOSYS. I have searched the MSDN documentation but can't find it. BTW I find the various alternatives confusing - CDO, CDONTS, CDOEX etc.
what i am trying to do is when the database field is empty to not display the box (table) that is in my css file, whereas when there's something in the field i would like the box to display!!! I' m getting a (0x80040E2F) error, if I submit my form, with blank textboxes
to my update stored procedure. The stored procedure expect values, so how
can I detect if a form field was empty. I've tried testing to see if the
form field is null, blank and to count the characters, but I can't get it
working. My SQL table allows nulls, so it's not that.

That is how it is in my file yet it just appears empty but I know there is valid data in the cookie as I printed it on screen using:

So I figured maybe it was something to do with the script tags so I tried using the <% %> tags instead and I got an error saying something like Microsoft VBScript runtime object required.
I'm getting some errors in my .asp code somewhere but I can't seem to figure them out because all I get is a blank 500 error screen. I don't get any description of the error, just a blank screen so I don't know what the problem is.
Just wondering if there's a way to get the results easily because I do not have admin rights to the server so I can't make a custom 500 error page or i would.

okay here it goes. I made a function in asp that is suppose to send mails. First i had no clue why the email didn't reach it's destination so i tried every possible variation of the code i could think of, but nothing worked. In my frustration i tried adding and removing text inside the body of the email if i add e: to the end of the text in the body - the email gets delivered every single time... but as soon as i remove it from the text body the email doesn't arrive. I get no error (i disabled friendly error messages) the page loads as nothing is wrong. The event viewer has no errors. there's no mails inside badmail or queue.
The server is a windows 2003 with exchange 2003 installed on it as well.
if there's anything i forgot please do not hesitate to ask.
the email i try to send to is a hotmail account. If i send to an email address located on the exchange server the email gets delivered successfully no matter what's inside of the body.

Some time ago I installed IIS via an original Win-XP Pro CD-ROM and with help from instructions that I got from the web.
Basically (as per the instructions) I have a folder called MyWeb within the folder wwwroot, which in turn is in the folder called Inetpub. However when I try and run an ASP script that is in MyWeb, I get the following error message:

The 'command' that I am entering via the address bar of my browser (mozilla) is the usual way of doing it, according to a friend of mine anyway; which is 'http://localhost/MyWeb/filename.htm'
